    At last a UK review on this little baby. Brilliant review and thank you Mark. My short-list went from Honda CB300R to Rebel 500 and now possibly next year's Hornet but I'm put off from the "beak" looking front end of the 750cc Hornet. Maybe this in yellow. Great work. Much appreciated.

      Yes agree with the beak thing on the Hornet. I prefer the look of of the 300 compared to the 500 and love the light weight and simplicity of the single. As a SuperMoto rider who needs to seriously slow down it could be an option.

      Bought my first motorcycle ever this spring-2022 Honda CB300R (US version, no slipper clutch, no gear indicator, no color matching on front fender). Absolute peach of a bike!! It is amazing. So much fun, cheap, reliable, all pros, no cons. 😃😃

    I had a 2019 CB300R in Candy Red with the gold forks and bronze wheels...lovely to look at and lovely to ride. After coming from a Honda NC750s, the smaller CB300 felt incredibly nimble and just plain fun nearly everywhere. The first few months of B road riding were just brilliant fun at sensible speeds. The bike makes you feel like your going faster than you are, which is a healthy proposition in the long term! After a summer I did begin to find the CB300R a bit of a two trick pony; great in town and lovely on those B roads but a trip round Wales showed up it's lack of flexibility and big A roads and motorways feel a bit dull. Although the engine doesn't mind sitting at 8K. Also, it looks beautiful from the front and sides with its high build quality and lovely modern/retro styling but it's a touch 125ish from the back. There's also just 1,000 RPM between peak torque and peak power and that translates into less flexibility than some other smaller capacity motors. I have an ADV350 (330cc) now and that feels nearly just as fun but far more torquey and way more practical. Horses for courses. Lovely review, thanks Mark.

    I'm an older rider and have owned one of these for last 2 years after riding bigger bikes. Your review is accurate and honest. This little bike gives loads of smiles to the gallon. Above 7000 rpm it's good fun, I was surprised how this little bike pulls with my 90kg on it. Over 8000 miles I've averaged 84mpg. Changed tyres to Road 5s now no complaints with handling. Can recommend this fun little machine. Thanks for review. This was needed for UK Market. Well done.

    I have had mine (in black) for about a month and a half now and a few things I can say for certain:
    1) it teaches you to be very deliberate with your inputs. It is a VERY light bike and as such every input is kind of amplified by the fact it weighs nothing.
    2) power to weight is good. My carcass sitting on top of it doesn't seem to slow it down at all.
    3) it loves to be in the right power band all the time... between 4-8k rpm is where this bike sings the best tune.. bellow and you risk chugging and above it feels like you run out of a bit of legs.
    4) it's just an easy bike to ride... I know my first point is that it amplifies your inputs but it is infinitely forgiving in regards to throttle response and braking... lean-sensitive ABS, slipper clutch and a lower power means you can mess up and all it will do is give you a jerk or a shudder and kind of wag it's finger at you when more powerful bikes would throw you into a hedge.

    I've watched this video 3 times now and I've changed my mind, there IS definitely a place for this bike between the 125s and 500s, it's like an ultra road version of the two crf300L and rally versions we can get. So to be honest, I'd have one without doubt 👍

    I have owned two of these bikes and I have always been impressed with the build, ride, and fun aspect of riding it.
    It is also a very cheap bike to own and run, giving a fun and engaging ride.
    I used mine typically for riding the country lanes of Suffolk and Norfolk and it is as if the bike was made for it. I compared this to other more powerful bikes at the time, but I personally found this a surprisingly more fun and easy machine to ride on the initial test ride, not being a fan of large CC bikes personally having previously owned a VFR 800 and a Hornet by comparison. I am 6’ tall weighing as much as 200lbs on occasion, but the bike never feels small when riding it, although having glanced at myself in a shop window I look big for the bike, of course. It also makes a great city bike, small, fast and agile. Put a box on the back and you have an untouchable city commuter, that will also offer a ton of fun on your weekend joy rides. I don’t think you can buy a more fun riding, versatile and reliable bike for the money. A great first bike for a new rider, and returning riders, you have to ride it to appreciate just how much fun this bike is.

I find them really interesting, reminding me of my 250s back in the 80s, z250, kh250, super dream 250 all used for commuting, although the super dream was taken on some long distance runs down too the coast (aahh those were the days).All were really capable bikes in their day , but not so much traffic in those days and people more road patient.This one looks quite cool would make a cracking commute/A road fun bike.

    great review, it back's up the impression i have got from other places, and atm it's the forerunner if i decide to upgrade once i (hopefully) get my licence next year. I currently have a 2021 cb125f and i love it for touring the narrow single track lanes and b roads, but on occasion the power when lugging my ample frame uphill leaves a little to be desired, and although i avoid traffic and busy roads where possible, it would be useful if i needed it.The only negatives i can think of are that it doesnt have a centre stand, you have to remove the fuel tank to get at the battery (although i believe you can get to the terminals easily), and maybe a usb port would be nice, but these are not really deal breakers for me, as what you term a 'beefed up' 125 seems just the ticket :) GL

    I now live in Thailand where a 300cc motorbike is considered a big bike.
    In Thailand it is 152,000 baht on the road => £3,540.
    I would say it was more fun to ride than the heavy fat CB500s and more like a powerful Honda Grom/Monkey
    The good thing about the CB300R is that it is so light and really good in Bangkok City jams being narrow for filtering , short wheel base and steep forks for manoeuvring round stationery vehicles in traffic jams.

      I've had a ninja 250 and then moved up to 600,650 and 750cc bikes.
      I enjoyed them for a while and most will need to scratch that fast acceleration itch but now i'm going back to smaller and lighter bikes.
      I just find they are more pick up and go. Jump on them to go to the shops even. Less effort to ride, mentally and physically.
      I found that i didn't really ride fast anymore and the weight and speed made me not want to get it out of the garage as much. I put my back out a few times shoving them around:)
      The ninja was the best bike i owned and i wouldn't have gone bigger if i knew what i know now.
      But everyone is different. Some enjoy power and most will want to at least try a faster bike.

      I've been lusting after this blue cb300r mainly for it's looks/ergos but it's underpowered for dealing with American traffic. I have the 500, and yeah, if I could get that engine in a lightweight, stylish chassis like the cb300r, it would basically be the perfect motorcycle. Instead, you have the cb650r at twice the price. I love the styling on this thing, the same as the CB125R.
    I just wish they would make a CB500R with the same retro style as this, I don‘t need more than 48hp but 31 just seems a tad bit low. Just some more reserves for overtaking and highway riding would be nice.

    • @davejohn7805
      @davejohn7805 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fair comment but you need to ride one to appreciate how nippy these little bikes are. Also the 300r only weighs in at 143kg wet so power to weight is very reasonable. Horses for courses but in 2 years of owning one overtaking never been a problem. Drop a couple of gears and away you go. Good fun. Must admit, I do like the cb500f though have you checked it out.?

      @Watson2108 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davejohn7805 I had a Svartpilen 401, very light and nimble too so I know how good that is. It had 42hp and there was no situation where I needed or wanted more power.
      Just the perfect amount for the street, you can wring out the first three gears without landing in jail.
      Now I have an Xmax 300 with 28hp, definitely enough for normal riding but it does lack in overtaking and highway riding.
      I´m a bigger guy at 6´1" and 220 pounds though.
      I miss the whole shifting part and the sound that goes along with it so I will sell that in the near future.
      The new CB500F is a beautiful bike as well and I can sit on it comfortably, I just prefer the retro style.

      Sound like you're narrowing down your decision. Agree about the retro style. I've stepped down from bigger bikes over the years and agree that 40 to 50 hp is plenty for the road. Also much more affordable, fuel , insurance etc. Really don't think you'll regret 500f if you went for it, just shame it didn't follow the same styling as the r. All the best.

      The Honda engines are known to be bulletproof and should last well over 100.000 miles.
      As someone who uses his bike for everyday commuting this is worth considering.
      Technically a scooter is the more logical choice for that but for style and fun reasons I want to switch.
      I guess I got a lot of testriding to do...

    • @michaelcovel1720
      @michaelcovel1720 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davejohn7805 I have the 500. No comparison. The 500 zips up to 60mph in 3rd gear and navigates traffic with authority all the way to 100. The 300 is quick enough to be fun on country two-lanes, but doesn't feel safe in traffic. In America, these bikes are fairly rare for this reason. Would also love to have that power in a lightweight good-looking bike like the 300. But in order to get it from Honda, you have to step up to the cb650r inline 4.

    On my old bike it's very easy to access but this looks a right pain.
    I suppose I can have some sort of battery tender leads fitted? But would they even be that accessible?
