Radiohead has been my favorite band for over 20 years. This version of weird fishes is so fucking gorgeous I bet Thom and the rest of the boys are flattered by such a beautiful rendition. It leaves me in tears every time. Bravo 👏🏼.
I still get chills at that initial change in the tempo from what sounds like the original speed of the song to this more relaxed version It such a slight change but it deliberately makes the rest of the song sound warmer and more atmospheric, accompanying Lianne's voice even better She's truly one of the best singers/musicians out there right now
Ok. Props to Lianne but what a band! So tight!!! From the backing singers to the rest of the ensemble these are people at the very top of their game and right there in the middle of them our Goddess!!! Fantastic stuff. X
Okay. Drummers. Take note what this guy is doing. That drum sound is huge, especially in those climactic sections (like around 4:17) and the guy is not playing very hard at all. He's playing for the tone and balance which, once you hit it with that compression to bring out all that thickness, is enormous. Remember this. Now of course this isn't only good tone and there's absolutely a place for hard hitting. That's another tone. But sometimes the bigger sound in some mixes comes from softer playing coupled with heavier compression. Awareness of tone production and how it interacts with the room, microphones and processing. This is the stuff that distinguishes good studio drummers from great studio drummers. It's why drummers like Aaron Sterling and Matt Chamberlain are so in demand.
It's a nice move for sure. Not sure if it came from Dan See or if it was Jay Sikora, the touring drummer. They've been playing this cover for a while now.
Ok, I have to ask because I don't know anything about it. Is the drummer starting faster and "slows" down? I can't really remember if I heard something like that before (maybe just because I spend less attention on it), but this time... it's kinda... dunno. Cool? At least it made me keep listening again and again to the Intro with the drummer :D
Thanks for your kind words! Jay Sikora came up with this but I was lucky enough to record it on the album. Clever little nod to the original he came up with.
I swear, for the last 5 years every time I find something I love it ends up being from the UK. Unbelievable talent over there. Arlo Parks, Jordan Raquai, Tom Misch, Michael Kiwanuka, Yussef Dayes, and on and on and on…….
I'd love to hear Lianne and Jon Batiste work on a song together. The composition, the velvet voices, the energy. Ugh. Her voice has this bowed violin quality that I just cant get over
This is my favorite Radiohead song (from my favorite Radiohead album), and this version is absolutely amazing. I love your work, Lianne!! You are an inspiration!!
Yes, what a tough year, 2020. Such a warm, mellifluous tone to her voice, just gorgeous, what an angel. Such a great band, backing singer too. Just so ethereal. So uplifting to hear. Can't wait until she tours x
I briefly met this talented superstar backstage at the Crossroads festival. 3 mos. later I met the love of my life(my Twin Flame) Ms. LaHavas' music was like a soundtrack to our journey. Unstoppable, being the main theme song for us. Then in May , only 5 mos. later, for whatever reason , the love of my life died. I still struggle to understand why she died. Then I heard this song and it resonated so hard with me. My love had the most amazing eyes that drew me in to her, everytime. I've struggled many times with why her and not me, etc. Lianne, please don't ever stop making music. I know the world has gotten 'weird', yet your music has been carrying me through some really personal dark times. Thank you so much for letting me know I am not alone, and for bearing your soul to us. Its quite exquisite and beautiful to hear it in musical form.
So sorry to hear that when my wife died suddenly in 2015 Radiohead really helped me get through it there is something about their sound that is very cathartic and helped me grieve when i was still in shock.

What a gift to us all. Discovered her performing with Prince on his SNL appearance and have been under her spell ever since. A true 21st century siren.
From the ambient tones of the keyboard, to the background full and precise drums, to the tonality of the guitars, bass, and singers. And then there's Lianne. Perfection.
Easily the best cover of this song ever, probably one of the best Radiohead covers ever. Love that she and the band clearly love the song, and are willing to truly respect it by making it their own.
Lianne is putting a band together: "I need excellent musicians. And they have to be nice people. And, oh yeah - they all must be able to sing, the drummer, the bassplayer, everyone!"
Agreed - excellent musicianship all around However, there was clearly a bass player in the recording, but why were they not part of the video??? Man if I was that bassist I would be pissed..........
How can someone improve a truly masterpiece? I think this majestic cover from Liane La Havas and her musicians represents a perfect answer to that question ... THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Absolutely awesome. I had never thought of weird fishes a song about a romantic relationship. Thanks for taking a song I love and giving it a spin as good as the original. Love it!
its refreshing to see someone actually SINGING without auto tune and over-engineering and the live performance sounds like a person with real talent and done with emotion. I Love the creative lyrics that come from real life experiences . I hereby dub thee... A True Artist!
She deserves all the attention! Such a beautiful souls and amazing voice. Meshell Ndegeocello on the other side of the ocean, and Lianne on our side are the most mesmerising and beautiful female artists nowadays. I'm getting a vinyl!
Wow what a renewed sound, artist and being... this is exactly what we were waiting for.... a spiritual experience. It is an honor to be alive during your artistic heights.
I just gotta say I love how you turn that room into a place of magic. And thanks for editing it down so exquisitely good. Would love to be a fly on the wall
That drum intro going from the original beat and then switching it up and slowing it down was so dope.
Radiohead has been my favorite band for over 20 years. This version of weird fishes is so fucking gorgeous I bet Thom and the rest of the boys are flattered by such a beautiful rendition. It leaves me in tears every time. Bravo 👏🏼.
same bro, same
Love LLH. Nice cover but this just reminds me how good Radiohead are #peerless.
I'm with you Bryan. Who would have believed someone could have done a cover worthy of the best band in the world
I thought this sounded like Radiohead lol
Funny - yesterday, a guy in a pub said this was a 'remix'. I said, no mate, it's Lianne La Havas.
That acapella harmonising gave me the chills!
Radiohead would approve. Prince loved Liane and he knew a good thing. She is just so uniquely beautiful.
Radiohead would definitely approve. I hope they've heard this masterful version.
Prince knew she was an awesome singer
(and uniquely beautiful because she sings this way)
Well they're not here to contest so to hell with it; why not. Radiohead think I'm a genius, too.
@@hypnoboutique No, Radiohead said that I'm the genius and that you're my underling.
And of course Prince was no stranger to legendary Radiohead covers

Take a bow for that one.
Lianne's voice is calming. All her music is my go to for rough times.
Just found her today!
Yeah I agree her voice is very good at communicating with my nervous system at a very deeper level.
One of the greatest musicians living today.
Thinking so too!
TOTALY AGREED ❤❤❤
You said "living". I know that's right! Respect
Nope!!!
Yeah Radiohead are amazing!
This is not just a song. It's an experience.
Those are the words I’ve been trying to find about this…magnificence!
I still get chills at that initial change in the tempo from what sounds like the original speed of the song to this more relaxed version
It such a slight change but it deliberately makes the rest of the song sound warmer and more atmospheric, accompanying Lianne's voice even better

I cannot explain how many times this song has been on repeat since it came out a few weeks ago...
You may like hearing her sing it here live too.

Its been the first song on night relax playlist since it dropped
It's been out for years.
Same here
Ok. Props to Lianne but what a band! So tight!!! From the backing singers to the rest of the ensemble these are people at the very top of their game and right there in the middle of them our Goddess!!! Fantastic stuff. X
Finally. Someone with the guts and talent to do a live video. No trendy crap,no over and over music, awesome!!
The drum slowing the beat is beautiful, like saying "Ok, we know this is the song, but this is our version of it" I love it
The saddest thing is not being able to see and hear this live... I can’t wait until this pandemic is over so we can start going to concerts again. 😩

Weird Fishes by Radiohead is absolutely my favourite song of all time, and this cover is sublime.
Was legit watching her tiny desk when this dropped!!!
That sounds like an intense day😉
What 🥺😭😭 one of my favourite songs covered by one of my top artists. Blessed!!

Damn she ate this cover, her style fits well with this song
"YEAAAAAAAAHHH" at 4:27 for all the feels
this moment when Lianne's guitar sets in and prepares the climax of this song, phenomenal.

Haha! Yeah the bass is heavy on the audio in this. I'm sure they loved it, who couldn't?
Same
Man. When they hit that acapella “I get eaten by the worms” part, it’s so beautiful it chokes me up a little. Music is powerful.
It’s like she’s saying to Radiohead, “let me show you how deep this thing you created goes.” Beautiful brilliance.
Poetically said…..
Nah, Radioheads original isn't any less deep than this. This is just a different take on it. It is beautiful, but so is the original.
I'd love to hear Lianne and Jon Batiste work on a song together. The composition, the velvet voices, the energy. Ugh. Her voice has this bowed violin quality that I just cant get over
Yes this is speaking so many languages. Voice of a generation ✌🏿
Lianne La Havas singing Radiohead is just what I needed to go through this sleepless night ❤️
You never disappoint. Progression of this performance is beautiful. Very well done.

In the deepest ocean
The bottom of the sea
Your eyes
They turn me
Why should I stay here?
Why should I stay?
I'd be crazy not to follow
Follow where you lead
Your eyes
They turn me
Turn me into phantoms (yeah)
I follow to the edge of the earth (yeah)
And I fall off
Oh yeah, everybody leaves (yeah)
If they get the chance (yeah)
And this (yeah), this is my chance
I get eaten by the worms
And weird fishes
Picked over by the worms
And weird fishes
Weird fishes
Weird fishes
Yeeeah
I hit the bottom
The bottom and escape
Escape
Yeah
I hit the bottom
The bottom and escape
Escape
Yeeeah
Hit the bottom
The bottom and escape
Escape
Hit the bottom
And escape
I love how they tease us with the groove from the original at the start. I really enjoyed this subtle transformation!
