I realize that I mispronounced several names in this video, please realize that even in a video that took me 3 weeks to make like my Jury Duty video, I still said the main character’s name was “John gladden” instead of “Ronald gladden” several times, I’m a perpetual mispronouncer and just mix things up in my head sometimes no matter how many times I try to tell myself the right way to say it, it’s not that I don’t care about the subject at hand ❤️

This isn't the only time she's s*xualized her kids, either. She's also done it on a podcast. There's a term in abuse communities (I'm a survivor): "covert incest" where parents blur the lines of s*xual appropriateness with their children. Yes, it's a form of abuse. Here's an example from psychcentral: "When I started to get breasts, my father would comment on them all the time. He pretended he was joking, but I could tell he was really examining them." It sounds similar to some of the things Colleen does.

    • @starfiresreign
      @starfiresreign ปีที่แล้ว +305

I had no idea that was a term. my father would do that sort of thing to me as well but he would outright comment on my body and want men would want to do to me.

People who have been twisted by pedophilia as a child have a very specific kind of humor.
This. And they have no age boundaries because there were none when they were kids. Not to excuse it because they still KNOW what is socially inappropriate and what aged ranges are off limits. Just saying, this woman was clearly twisted up and has no business having an audience if children.
How parents didn’t grab their kids and get up and walk out is beyond me. Makes me wonder if there is a subset of the population that is low key into this stuff because of a similar upbringing and actually want their children exposed to it.

The same exact reason parents take their kids to pageants. This is pageantry, and we all know the kind of parents that are into that, and the kind of adult viewers these events attract. Also it's a very dangerous thing to assume that every predator is an SA victim. Especially in her case I don't believe any of it, that she doesn't understand age boundaries, and I very much doubt she's been abused herself. She's a narcisssist and faking ignorance and innocence is their bread and butter.

I didn't know she had her live shows on Netflix. And it just gets worse. She bleeps out curse words but thinks joking what is pr0n is appropriate for her audience (then again she wants to believe her audiences aren't mainly children). She's teaching them about slutshaming in the worse possible way.
It blows my mind that she got away with this for over a decade. I remember looking up what're kid friendly TH-camrs for my little cousins and she's always on those lists, written by parents. And seeing her material, how could any parent think that was age appropriate for kids! Yet drag queens doing story time with kids is seen as "dangerous and unsafe", when they're actually age appropriate and read kid friendly books. It makes me mad that there's so many anti-lgbtq+ bills that's outlawing drag queens for being "inappropriate" for kids and then Colleen Ballinger literally had no backlash for almost all of her career until a few weeks ago for her inappropriate humor.
Edit: Oh man, the homophobes showing up in the replies.
Edit 2: lots of "Tell Me you're a homophobe without saying you're a homophobe" in the replies here

Good point about the drag shows for children. Men have been dressing up as women in comedy movies since forever, idk why they're so upset about children's drag shows.
But yeah... Colleen's special was a big yikes. And is it that she doesn't want to believe her audience is made up of children or that she thinks it's okay to say inappropriate things around them? I think it's the latter.

@@50toinfinityatleastYou're entitled to your opinion and I respect it because you aren't being disrespectful to anyone. But, drag is only a specific type of entertainment. It's not inherently bad. For example, there are adult comics and comics for children. All comics were once demonized and thought of as negative influences on children, and that's because adults didn't think that they could be age appropriate and educational. Now look at where we are.
It's the same thing with drag shows. They are not inherently bad. And after all if parents don't want to take children to a show...they don't have to. It's not being forced on anyone as far as I know. 🤷🏾‍♀️

And it'll be advertised as kid-friendly or not, at least you're told. Unlike with Colleen Ballinger where you're told by listicles, made by parents, that she's child-friendly.
My main point is lgbtqi+ entertainment are and can be child-friendly. And the fact that a cis-het woman is able to get away with her inappropriate material and still be labeled as child-friendly for over a decade. While anti-lgbtqi+ bills are being introduced and passed despite it bring child-friendly and age appropriate.

She makes incest jokes, everything is weirdly sexuality even though her audience is kids, a character has a disability fetish and it’s played for laughs. One of the characters says they have a real disability then seconds later it’s confirmed they say it for attention. The inspiration for that quirky character was apparently from Colleen’s own fan with said disability, and Colleen thought they were being over dramatic.

This joke flew over my head as a kid, and I didn’t know what p*rn was because…. I was a child. It’s such an adult joke to make, this kinda style of bit and character is why I’m so confused she didn’t adapt this character for an adult audience. the background of Miranda clearly was something that would except from your standard corny annoying millennial comedian, but she did things like go to the kids choice awards and actively engage with a young audience…. which makes her behavior all the more clear on her real intentions
