    The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has been one of our favorite Android phones, as it ushered us in the new era of Ice Cream Sandwich -- the Android OS version that reinvented the platform and aspired it to a whole new level. Of course, almost all new Android phones nowadays come out with ICS, and the Galaxy S III is probably the brightest example at the moment.
    Being the successor of last year's hit Galaxy S II, the Galaxy S III has yet to prove that it is the ultimate Android phone, and for this to happen, one of the numerous opponents that have to go down is the Galaxy Nexus. Let's see if the S III is capable enough to win a fight against the ...

    Status bar on the S3 says it's 16 o'clock.
    Weather/Time widget on the S3 says it 9AM
    Status bar on the Nexus says it's 1PM
    Clock widget on the Nexus says it's 13 o'clock.

    Pretty much all software related issues. Multi-touch issue resolved, everything resolved. the only thing that hasn't been resolved is battery life and the cellular radios, which can not be fixed with an update.

    i was talking about the prices of the phones unlocked (i went to amazon and checked it). i live in portugal, and unfortunately we do not have those awesome deals you americans do where you can get the latest state of the art technology for a couple of bucks, and we have to pay up to 800$ for the S3, and about 500$ for the nexus. Own preferences still boils down to the end. And I go for the Nexus, better design and stock ICS. The GSIII shows up more on the hardware and some features but doesn't gave me a better reason to go for it. The GNexus just gave me more reasons why not to buy a phone in the next years. Talk about Android Jelly bean. #TeamGalaxyNexus

    Pay attention to the connectivity once the close up starts @3:35, the S III has four bars while the Nexus is struggling to even keep service at all. This is the main reason why I wanna get rid of my Nexus. Even if you can somehow prove the Nexus to be the superior device, it makes NO difference if you can't even use the damn thing...

    i guess I seem to be the only one who doesn't like the warm colors. Apart from pixel density, I much prefer the slight blue tint the ipad 2 has than the yellow tint the one x and ipad 3 have. I really can't stand yellow, but I do think the colder colors is an upside, I think it makes things look nicer. But all this is purely subjective, I like blue a lot, and can't stand cream or yellow :)

    I just bought a Galaxy Nexus yesterday from Google Play. My girlfriend chose the GS3. I prefer a phone that is unlocked and will be guaranteed to get Jelly Bean first. She might have a slightly faster phone but gets a less attractive design, ugly touchwiz apps, and will probably get an upgrade to Jelly Bean 3-6 months after me. If you are buying the gsm version save the upgrade for the GS4 or if you end up liking the GS3 better then sell the Nexus and use the money to get the S3 on contract.

    why make a vs video? the nexus was released half a year ago, i see the s3 as the hardware-succesor of the nexus and the nexus as the software-succesor to the s2. and in my opinion thats the best way to compare these phones.

  • @anagodinho
    @anagodinho 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    yea. but don't get me wrong. if we judge the two devices just by their specs and overall performance i agree that the S3 is better than the nexus. but then again, i will not pay 800$ (in portugal and probably most european countries) for the S3 when i can have a nexus for 300 bucks less. BUT if i lived in america, no doubt i would further investigate the possibility of buying the S3 if both phones are the same price, as you say (:

    S3 will be overthrowned by most phones releasing in the upcoming months. The S3 doesn't have the hardware to consider as a benchmark leader for long. The S2 had benchmarks under control for almost a year since its hardware was actually a huge upgrade. But with the S3 benchmarks it seems slightly faster than the One X. When A15 quad core comes out in Q4 your statement of the S3 being the best phone ever won't matter.

    There is no doubt that Galaxy S3 is better then Galaxy Nexus in hardware, but , for me, there isn`t diference on use. What i`d do with Galaxy S3 that i can`t make on Galaxy Nexus ? is there any app that just runs in S3 that i can`t run in Nexus the same way? The S3`s screen is just 0,15' higher ... Não tem duvida que o S3 tem melhor hardware, mas, pra mim, não tem diferença no dia-a-dia. O que o S3 faz que o Nexus não faz? Tem algum app que só roda no S3 e não no Nexus? E a tela é só 0,15' maior

    Specs are better i wont deny that, i am speaking strictly about the OS. But anyways thats why people have free will. Whatever i say, or whatever you say, we can both agree that the iPhone 5 doesnt even get close to Samsung devices. And that is good enough for me :)

    GS3 will get JellyBean (eventually). However go buy a GS3 right now and you'll see that the Nexus is the better one right out of the box... and honestly thats everything that matters. Your opinion about roms almost always being better than stock, is obviously your viewpoint and not the public's.

    I must say the nexus is off the chain. I bought one for my wife on wirefly.com for $49.99 and it came with a free dock. I was at verizon this morning comparing phones and i got so irritating with them trying to push the new droid m on everyone. Droid razr m is boo boo!! Samsung galaxy nexus hands down with the new jell bean os. dont let the 5 megapixels fool you, it still takes great photos.

    I will agree the S3 outperforms the GNex in many aspects. but there are supposedly 5 Nexus devices debuting in the fall that will probably blow both the Gnex and the S3 out of the water. And even the Galaxy Note 2, which I don't really care for. But yeah I see what you mean but the GNex is currently one of the best devices out along with the S3 and One X, especially since Jelly Bean fixes the lag and will bring Google Now. They're all good devices to me.

  • @Alexr197
    @Alexr197 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    So what there's a physical home button or capacitive buttons? If they do their intended functions then what's there to complain about? And if there's gimmicky features then simply don't use them... I never once bought into the whole Sir/S-voice thing, so myself I won't be utilizing that feature. But sharing options like S-beam and share shot can come quite in handy, especially with my friends because we're media-heavy. I'd like to own a Nexus device, but it's simply outgunned for me.

  • @PopRapCountryFan
    @PopRapCountryFan 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not dissing the Galaxy S3. In fact, I was looking forward to buying the blue version until I took a closer look at the phone itself. And aside from the soft key placement, you actually like the physical home button? Don't you like an all touchdesign? And as for "Touchwiz Nature UX" running on the phone, it's nothing but a power-hogging POS that's hiding the true beauty of ICS. There's lots of useless, gimmicky features on the phone that are unnecessary..ahem..S-Voice. I think I'm good.

  • @Alexr197
    @Alexr197 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Let's see... I guess '2012' would have a home button, a multi-tasking button and a back button. The Galaxy S 3 has a home button, so that's one point. Accessing the SAME multi-tasking menu can be done by long-pressing the home button, so that's another point. And most applications on the market still require a menu button, hence the awkward and jumpy placement of the three dot 'menu' on-screen button. Saving pixels while providing the SAME function? That's one more point. I think I'm good.

  • @xrashids

    speaking of glx nexus vs glx 2 comparison, the only thing glx2 beats nexus is the camera, imo. No idea whats going on in other places, but in Israel GLX2 is like one of the most popular smartphones, along with iphone4. That + the design of glx nexus+ics were the reasons for me to get one.
    I think its pointless to compare glx nexus to s3, s3 is a brand new overpriced phone (s3 was out 7 month after nexus.) with superior hardware. Although have to point out that they totally copied nexuss design

  • @adphillips88
    @adphillips88 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    yes to put it bluntly. the android market is getting better every day and soon there wont be much in it but there are a few apps that you can only get on the iphone, but i prefer the android setup, the price and I've never not found an app on the android that wont do what i want. In saying that its all down to preference. the iphone is a very good phone but depend on what you like

  • @anagodinho
    @anagodinho 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    i can say to you the same as i said in my response to @qqqqqq582. im just giving my personal opinion of the two phone in terms of sofware, hardware and price. also, os wise it kinda does matter, cause due to the fact that the Nexus is basically more of a google phone than a samsung phone, even when the android 5.0 (jelly bean) comes, we will have in on the Nexus much more sooner that any other android based phones from all the telecommunication companies.

  • @anagodinho
    @anagodinho 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    indeed it is. but i said what i said as my personal opinion; and i still stand by it. its pretty clear, as you said, that the S3 is a better phone overall. however, Quad-core chips in mobile phones, right now, are nothing but a marketing strategy. Until improvements in battery life (that manufacturers are really in need of) and the level of app development come into line with this kind of technology, it’s nothing but a waste of money (again, imo). and thats why i also own a Nexus instead of a S3

  • @anagodinho
    @anagodinho 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    not only is the Galaxy Nexus better than the S3, in my opinion, but it is also much cheaper. its almost 200$ of a difference. Now if you are a part of the 10% of the population that actually wants to get a phone to use it as a digital camera and see movies in it all day long, go for the bigger screen and better camera of the S3. But if you just want an awesome phone that runs android amazingly smooth, has a fairly good camera and a TRUE 720p screen resolution, go for the Nexus... Best choice!

  • @KrizTm21
    @KrizTm21 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Because they are still very close performance wise despite their hardware differences. QuadCore chipsets will mean nothing to like 90% of users. You can check other videos clearly showing the difference in speed at launching apps and browsing the web between the two are super negligible. Only things actually worth talking about are the slightly better camera and Smart Stay.. S-Voice? lol.. Siri anyone? Just a beta gimmick.

  • @CRutgerX
    @CRutgerX 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    i agree on most parts, but i dont think they'd cripple the g-nexus, since its a google phone more than a samsung phone. the nexus line has always been in the hands of google and companies like htc and samsung are all in line, hoping they're granted the possibility to make a nexus phone. S3 is def. better though, no doubt about it, same tech just a generation later. but worth upgrading? meh, waste of the money spent on the nexus which is still awesome even though its ranked 3rd instead of 1st now

  • @skratch77777
    @skratch77777 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    This video is by far the best one Iv seen for people that have a nexus and are thinking of getting the s3,its honeslty not really worth it but just from the new radio I might get the s3.
    If we could get samsung to give us a vanilla s3 with 2gb ram it would be the best cell hands down but there is to many things that one cell has and the other dosnt to make nexus users upgrade to.
    now I know why the nexus got the 5mp camera,they crippled the nexus just enough to save the upgrade for the s3.

  • @museapex
    @museapex 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I own a Galaxy Nexus and I'm not completely satisfied with it. It seems a bit rushed like for instance the battery life is atrocious and doesn't last very long and when you install a few apps and the phone starts to have a little bit of its space taken up, it lags like hell. Although it could be the fact that the Phone companies aren't releasing google's updates as ICS 4.0.4 is out and I've only got 4.0.2.

  • @everybodylovesps3
    @everybodylovesps3 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's true that the S3 hardware is far ahead of the GNexus (and probably everything else out there), but superior user interface and pool of options??? I love Samsung, but they don't know jack shit about designing UI. Touchwiz is fugly. Stock ICS is beautiful. And that physical button is a huge turnoff for me.
    That said, it's either this or One X for me. Still haven't decided... If I do get the S3 however, the first thing I'm doing is putting CM9 on it.

    there are so many people who are telling that galaxy nexus will get updates before s III. yeah, it's natural! because nexus is pure google phone. but samsung use their own stuffs after the update released! so it became late for getting a update! with Galaxy Nexus's horsepower, there's not much customization you could do. Even if you can, the performance will be less than stellar. With Galaxy S3's horsepower, there's no limit to what you can do. And you sound like a noob when you say only the Nexuses can be rooted and customized. The most customized Android phone ever with tons of custom roms and tweaks is for Galaxy S2, not the Nexus line.

  • @Asrar29
    @Asrar29 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    People preferring Galaxy Nexus over Galaxy S3 obviously hasn't got their hands on the latter. And Nexus always having the upper hand with the updates? I could care less, I prefer a superior user interface and pool of options offered by Samsung rather than the Google-controlled Nexus which obviously has inferior hardware than even the Galaxy S2, let alone S3. S3 is going to be the best Android phone ever, although I have to say it does not appeal aesthetically. But that's not going to stop me.

Another thing, the capacitive keys on the SGS 3 hide perfectly when not lit so it makes the phone look a lot more minimalistic. jelly bean is the lastest and fastest android operating system which basically makes your galaxy S3 run as faast as possible with a constant 60 fps(frames per second) so it does not lag and loads internet content like sites and videos far faster with far more customization on the menu and apps and thats about all i can tell you for now :) hope this helps!

  • @DirrtySwan
    @DirrtySwan 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    thats because its not necessarily true. All the nexus devices still don't have jelly bean. Like verizon, or sprint (who is just now getting it). So basically, if you want the LTE version of the Nexus, it will get the updates much closer to the S3, which is also coming soon.
    ofcourse, you could flash ROMs, in which case both devices already have Jelly Bean.

    The galaxy S3 is almost a year newer than the galaxy nexus, of course Samsung would fine tune more of its qualities, however the price difference between the S3 and the nexus is also quite significant considering how most stores sells the S3 for almost $200 more. it also seems that there is not much difference in quality. Is the quality difference really worth $200 more?

    Dude, the answer is simple. Get the S3 and ROOT THE DEVICE. I just ordered my S3 and I can tell you there is no way I would ever run the stock OS. The first thing I do is root the phone then download Cyanogenmod 9. That way you will have a customized, no bloatware ICS rom.

    the galaxy s3 has been out for two weeks and it already has aosp. and jellybean is an incremental update 4.0 -> 4.1 I doubt it would take a month tops. regardless the s3 is already a more popular phone there's been many more sold, I would just like to see it in person and judge it. it has the hardware, and the software is coming in really fast with dev support.

    For my Galaxy S2 AOSP is kind of harder on my eyes. Something just looks funny. Plus, on stock, you have support for TouchWiz apps and mods, like S Voice playing music for you, selecting a song from the (TouchWiz) Clock app because you have the (TouchWiz) MyFiles file-explorer, or installing JKay Deluxe Settings (which is fantastic!).

    Same here, i personally like that the Super Amoled screens completely blow the contrast in colours, it looks much more eye-catching, and "natural colours" just look boring, and why would you even want that on a phone, i want my phone to look eye-catching, if someone needs a camera, then dedicated cameras are still the way to go

    as a samsung supported , personally i think the nature sound and other cool features of the s3 is just pretty darn gimmick . s-voice ( how often do we use them) , pop-up vid ( you wont concentrate much on the vid when doing other task ) . they could have done something which is more more needed rather than just cool

    @acondie13 touchwiz didn't ruin the phone for millions of users it enhanced it . That's why it's the number 1 selling android device.I love stock but touchwiz is very user friendly.

    Well if the Samsung Galaxy S III is only a bit better after being a year older than the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and if it might sometimes cost 200$ more, then i think the Nexus is the better phone, and i think that the S III needed a bit more refining so it can actually be called "better"

    yeah I agree on that s voice doesn't perform as well as siri or the others, but the talk to type thing when you want to text someone is a feature in the keyboard its self and its a software used by Google and has nothing to do with s voice. lol watch at 2:00 /watch?v=pd1j1mBQjQQ

    the galaxy nexus is really amazing I just got it a week ago and I'm so glad I didn't choose to get the s3 instead! They forgot to mention how the nexus has all the voice typing and stuff and mine has been really accurate so far! I would totally choose the nexus!!

    true 720p screen? Both of them have pentile. The Galaxy S3 beats it on essentially every category except for OS. If you prefer stock android, the Nexus is miles ahead of every other phone. But for any other feature than that, the S3 pretty much beats the nexus

    the s3 has a 720p screen. i got rid of my nexus due to screen quality banding issues. if they fixed it i woulda kept it, just got to see if the s3 has the same issues. i don't really care about software because ics is already out for the s3 so they would both be running the same os

    "Nexus" is a brand name by Google which is Android flagship phone for the year. Just like how Apple launches an iPhone every year, Google launches a Nexus every year. The next Nexus phone would probably be out and ready to by in the Fall, because that is when Google always releases Nexus phones.

    You can´t compare these two phones. The Galaxy Nexus is a dual core 2011 device, and the sIII has got a quad-core processor, and, in general, much better hardware. The prices are totally different in addition. I´ve got a nexus and I love it, but is uncomparable to the Galaxy sIII.

    O.o it doesn't he even said in the video that there both the same but the S3 is brighter and slightylt better. The only thing better on the GNex is pixel density, but you cant see pixels on the screen so thats just a useless fact that nerds use to help justify their phone being good :P

    5:00 The S-Voice on the S3 is now almost a non-factor because Google has their own version with Google Voice which seems to work as good as/better than Siri and S-Voice.

    @JOJOXXP4 Beauty's in the eye of the beholder. I like TWiz actually. Its a very quick, fluid interface w/loads of customization. It really has no flaws & never lags at all.

    compared to the phones that will be out in 2 years? no. but it has specs better than a lot of laptops. so its still going to be a remarkable piece of technology. 1.2ghz dual core processor and 1gb of RAM? my first gaming computer had worse specs.

    Now with the new jelly bean, the nexus is THE best phone ever! and i had iphone and gs2.
    The android is much more beautiful than the ugly android on the SG3 and 2.
    Super fast and it just really really WORKS. Apps never crush like on the other galaxies.
