  • With the warmer months creeping up on us, I've started thinking about what I'll be knitting this spring. After the conclusion that I don't care for knit tees and tanks, I've settled on 6 sweaters I'd like to knit in the upcoming months, pulling from yarns (and patterns) I already have in stash.

    I also just love knitting sweaters so I'll knit them through spring and summer and just be really excited to wear them once it gets cold again, it's so nice to see a podcaster also do that lol because yes I enjoy seeing all the tees and tanks but I'm with you in not enjoying knitting with plant fibers

    this is the first vid of yours ive seen and i love your energy! you seem really relaxed but are still clearly a passionate knitter. i also appreciate that you know what YOU like to make and are knitting to make yourself happy rather than just following what looks good on insta. (plus i love the sweater youre wearing!! it's either noro, or a really good noro dupe. the colors are so cute!!!)

      Thank you! I think after being miserable after knitting a few cotton projects- I’ve learned my lesson that they do not spark joy 🥲 And you have a good eye for Noro! The sweater I’m wearing is knit with Noro viola 😊

    I relate so much to getting fun colors and not wearing them. I've got to stick to a winter pallet or they don't get used. My Spring knits are some 50/50 cotton/wool tees from a raglan pattern i'm re-writing to fit me exactly. The bust is always an issue and ive also given up on the circular yokes. They're beautiful and i love stranded colorwork in a circle yoke, but its gotta be wearable in the end. sigh. I raided the Happy Place yarn launch and that'll be my spring/summer/fall projects for...awhile. i went a bit overboard. but i gift baby sweaters/blankets as an ongoing background WIP pile

      @whatsmilimaking  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Happy Place sounds like the perf yarn for gift knits and transitional weather. I’ve yet to try any wool/ cotton blends but they do sound like an ideal summer fiber. Anything is better than knitting with 100% cotton 😂 I feel you re sweaters not fitting well around the bust. On the plus side, reshaping the garment to fit you is a great way to exercise your knitting and math skills! It’s such a useful skill to have 👍🏽

    Wait why am I so excited to find a NJ based podcast 😅 I would love to hear about your favorite shops for the Wool Walk!

    • @whatsmilimaking
      @whatsmilimaking  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Ooh that's really hard cause I love all the yarn shops 🫣 If I had to pick my top three, I would say Yarnia, The Local Yarn Store, and Knitapestry. I also remember visiting Rows of Purl for the first time last year during the wool walk, and realllly liking their yarn selection. I think they had a lot of Noro! I haven't been to any of the yarn stores down south but from what I've seen online, they look plentiful too

      @cupcakenormajean9974 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@whatsmilimaking thank you! I’m closer the Philly so the southernmost shops are the ones I’m familiar with. Woolbearers in Mt Holly has a nice selection based on my limited experience but I’d love to get a chance to go for a drive and check out some of the ones you’ve mentioned!

    • @whatsmilimaking
      @whatsmilimaking  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cupcakenormajean9974 they're def worth a day trip, and there are plenty of cute parks and cafes to stop at in between! I've never been to woolbearers but have bought some yarn from their booth at Vogue Knitting Live. Their hand dyed collection was so expansive, and I imagine it's even more impressive at their store front 😆

    I’m still knitting on hats like a Two by Two by Anne Gagnon and a Musselburgh by Ysolda Teague, but I need to undo the bind off on my Simple Hug cardigan because the sleeve holes are too tight on my arms. Thanks for sharing your projects and thoughts on all the yarn. Take care.

    • @whatsmilimaking
      @whatsmilimaking  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good luck with undoing the bind off! I find it to be a hassle but always worth it in the end to re-do it and get the right fit. Hopefully the second times the charm 👍🏽 Thank you for watching and take care too ❤️

      Aw thank you, your comment made my day 🥹 If you want an alternative to the spincycle, have you looked at zauberball crazy? I’ve def seen some colorways that are similar to the two colors I’m using for my shifty! I think they’re a bit more affordable than spincycle and have double the yardage 👍🏽

    • @whatsmilimaking
      @whatsmilimaking  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure-- I am currently contemplating darker shades of red and brown. But also maybe a lighter color could work? Congrats on finishing yours! What colors did you use?

      @abirthdaypony 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For my main color I used Harrisville Designs Daylights in the color Chirp, it's an off-white with hints of blue fibers mixed in. I used an old medium blue yarn from my stash for the emboridery! @@whatsmilimaking

      @@abirthdaypony that sounds beautiful! I love the idea of coordinating the colors that way. Perhaps once I start knitting mine, I'l look through my stash to find a color that coordinates with the specks of brown in the shhelter. Thanks for the idea!
