  • macmost.com/e-2721 The magnifier on your iPhone is a hidden app that you can use to read small text on medicine, food items, menus and more. You can also temporarily save images so you don't need to keep the iPhone pointed at the item.

    Great, Gary! Thanks for letting know about switching the cameras. Nice use of magnifier as a makeup mirror!

    Another really useful video, Gary! I kind of knew that this feature was available but I didn’t know how to access it or what features were available. Thanks!

    Love the magnifier! Being able to read the teeny-tiny print on teeny-tiny ear drops or similar feels like a super power! I always learn something from your videos; in this case, the ability to remove those different-colored filters from magnifier. Well-said, well presented. Lastly, reading menus in a darkened restaurant is great, but I would caution about the light use. It can be distracting to other diners while being very helpful to you. Either using the light momentarily or holding the menu and light below the table should alleviate the situation (and your friends finding you in the fetal position reading the menu under the table should provide hours of hilarity🤣). Thanks Gary!

    Another really useful one, Gary! I've had the magnifier in my Control Centre for ages, and use it sometimes, but hadn't taken advantage of all the possible refinements. (Until now... 😉) Thank you!

    That's it Gary I've had it! Why has Apple not hired you to share all of the goodness that comes with their devices that they never promote? I have learned so much from you especially when it comes to the MAC. While many tout what third party apps can do you have saved me from spending unnecessarily by having me first see what my device is already capable of. You would be perfect for an alternative to the "There's an App for that" advertisements that Apple use to have. Your's would be "We've already got that (built-in)" LoL. While I love what you are doing, I really wish that Apple would hire or sponsor you and have MACmost as a division where they teach the average joe and seasoned vet all the things that are hidden within their awesome operating system that gets neglected at WWDC.

    I’ve been doing this for a while. Recently received my Samsung M8 monitor and needed help from their help desk to set it up. They asked for the serial number from the back - every time I got the phone close enough to it to take a photo / magnify it, the phone screen went black even with the monitor’s power cord removed. Couldn’t understand why. Very odd! I never got the number, the guy eventually accessed the screen remotely. Great video, thanks.

    I usually use the button in the Control Center to start the Magnifier or just say “Hey Siri open Magnifier"

  • @husamejle

    I tried to use it every each update but it has the same problem, when you magnify/zoom it's very clear but shaky, and when I take picture it suddenly becomes much less quality and blurry.

    Hi Gary; just discovered your channel ; I'm struggling with using my iPhone 13 Pro Max since I have only used Android. At 71, it's a bit more of a challenge! I appreciate how you explain the steps.
    Do you have an "intro to iPhone "video? Thanks again

    Thank you I had no idea what this application is, but I’m why did Apple make that it’s just the camera or are the magnifications more powerful or something

    • @macmost
      @macmost  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The magnifications are pretty extreme at the high end. But it depends on which iPhone you have.

    Gary, how can you make a transparent picture in picture in iMovie? And, is there a way to apply a filter on the movie but just over the area of the picture in picture?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd make the picture outside of iMovie and use it inside of iMovie. See th-cam.com/video/4vKCIWLEY2U/w-d-xo.html

    Is there a way to program macros on the mac os keyboard? The multiple key presses to use a keyboard shortcut are impossible for some people (like me, a quadriplegic with limited hand use).

    • @macmost

      There are a lot of things you can investigate. Try the Accessibility Keyboard in System Preferences, Accessibility, Keyboard, Viewer.

      You can't. Those are there supposed to be temporarily for reference use. If you want to take photos and save those, use the Camera app instead.

      Should have mentioned that different iPhone models use different buttons for the feature.
      On the iPhone SE it's the home button.

    Rats! It looks like my I Phone 11 doesn't have this option. My Accessibility Shortcut screen has fewer options than what's in this video, Magnifier not being one of them. Good video, though.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This has been around for a while, and I'm sure the iPhone 11 has it. Maybe you are also on an older version of iOS? Even so, it should still be there in some other form. Look in Settings, Accessibility, accessibility Shortcut.
