We've done Striding Edge up to Helvellyn before, but would love to hear recommendations from others on more hikes in the Lake District that involve scrambles that don't require ropes as we thoroughly enjoyed this hike thanks to the scramble. Would you scramble across Sharp Edge?
I imagine if you see them a lot, it can make the risks seem all the more scary. I always tell myself to not worry about how goofy I look with my 3 points of contact or how slow I'm going, better to look a bit uncool and live than uncool and fall off the side of the mountain!
Great job of climbing and filming Sharp Edge. I’ve climbed Blencathra numerous times, but never had the nerve to try Sharp Edge. The route up Halls Fell Ridge is also a bit of a scramble, but less daunting. If ever you climb Blencathra again I’d also recommend parking in the village of Mungrisedale and doing the circular route of around 8 miles (including Sharp Edge if you wish).
Thank you Jon. I really must give my other half, Andy the credit for the camera work as it was him who was stopping to do most of the filming. The circular sounds like a nice hike. I can't remember if that was the way we'd considered until the thick fog rolled in or not, but we do find ourselves being pulled back to the Lake District over and over, so definitely one for the list. Thank you for the recommendation.
Caroline ~ Another amazing video. Thoughtful review of the hike, nice shots of the challenge of it, and stunning scenery. Very nice to watch ~ thanks for taking us with you!
Hi Carl, so pleased you enjoyed it, and the shots of the challenging part - as it was a challenge to film it too. I know Andy will be chuffed to read your comment.
What a fantastic scramble, with views to match, if I can ever do trips like that again it will be on my list. If you want a similar walk try Helvellyn via striding edge and down via swirrel edge. Keep up the great videos. God bless
Hi Darren. We really loved doing Helvellyn via Striding and Swirral Edges back in 2019 and it's what inspired us to do this route up Blencathra. It as so good, part of me wants to go again, but other parts want to explore somewhere new!
@@WhenAdventureKnox I'm glad you enjoyed it. There is a walk on the flanks of Helvellyn up to the Greenside lead mine, that's worth exploring. My Dad walked up the old man of Coniston and said that was a great walk. Love your vids, keep um coming. God bless
Great episode! Sharp Edge looks crazy but it's definitely the route I would have taken up, like you said at the beginning doing those kind of things will make you feel alive! Some remarkable footage of you climbing across the most advanced sections, I think we're going to see that in some future highlight videos! Love how the clouds cleared while you were heading up allowing us to see the spectacular scenery behind you - it was glorious. You timed it perfectly 😄
I couldn't get over how perfectly we timed it either - luck really was on our side that day! I know you said you'd like to visit the Lakes - Striding Edge up to Helvelyn is a scramble too, but we chose to do that before Sharp Edge as there's a path just off the top scramble part which is good as a back up if the scramble gets to be a bit too much. I'm now looking for more scramble recommendations for our next trip. St. Sunday's crag looked amazing, but I realise it's a more difficult grade and requires ropes... and I have no idea what I'm doing at that point sadly! Pleased you liked the footage on sharp edge - I know Andy will be chuffed when he reads this!
Wow, you grew up in such a stunning part of the country - very envious! I'm excited to share my other videos from the Lakes, and we loved this trip so much, we already have another booked so hopefully will have even more Vlogs to share!
@@WhenAdventureKnox Brilliant! Yes I lived just outside of Penrith and had a fantastic view of the northern fells. I was very lucky especially when the northern lights were on show.

I think it's incredible how someone has sat down and worked out exactly how to do all 214 Wainwrights in just 36 walks! I've done a few, but certainly no where near close to hiking them all - those that I have tackled seem to be some of the more popular ones and with good reason as each has been stunning!
Caroline, Wow great video, What is next week, are you flying up a mountain with a jetpack? 🧗♀Take care of your knees you don't want to have to do knee replacement. But enjoy your life to it's fullness while your young. Love 💖your channel thanks for sharing. Cheers ☕☕🧔
Thank you, I'm pleased you enjoyed it 🙏 This Sunday I'll be toning things right down and doing something that's popular with families who have young children, so don't worry, I wont be getting more and more extreme each week 🤣 If memory serves me correct, the knees situation on this hike was an unfriendly reminder to take it slower, or choose a longer, less steep route back down and I was better behaved for the rest of the trip.

I didn't realise that in other parts of the world father's day hasn't been celebrated. When I was at university, would spend my summers working on a children's summer camp in the US and the first week often coincided with father's day and it was then when I learnt we have the same date for dad's in the US, but it's a completely different date for mother's day. I've just had a quick Google and it looks like our mother's day is very close to yours - ours being Sunday 19th and yours Tuesday 21st March. Ours will always be on a Sunday as it's traditionally our 'holy day' meaning everyone is not at work (though in modern times many people work on Sunday's now). Whilst the date changes, it's always around the date of yours.

No. It looks terrifying and I've seen to many mountain rescue helicopters come from that way.

@@WhenAdventureKnox Nothing wrong with looking uncool especially when it comes to your safety.

Beautiful footage as always, Caroline. Thanks for taking us with you. Best wishes.
Thank you guys, really appreciate your kind words
Beautiful scenery, the way it is edited deserves all the praise. Narrated part is great. I enjoyed every second.
