Yes! Make a MIDI track and as it’s Input you select the chord or melody track, then set that midi track from “auto” to “in” and record arm, then hit record and the generated arp or chord progression should be recorded in a midi clip :)

parameter randomizers like in ableton is exactly what is missing in bitwig, but unfortunately the bitwig developers only like generative music, but not generative parameters
You can actually do it in Bitwig using the grid in a lot of different ways. You kinda have more controls as well. I stumbled into the concept of stochastic randomization long back and decided to do it in the grid. Turned out to be better than the one implemented in Ableton.
@@paraciteofficial8155 you might be right about that, but in my opinion the moment you need to use the Grid to accomplish something in Bitwig it's already a worse workflow than just loading some dedicated plugin and the whole point of Virtual Riot's randomizers is that it's really easy to just hit the hotkey that will generate new patterns of sound. Also it needs to be saved as plugin state and not depend on the seed of the randomizer too much, so that reopening the project doesn't generate a new preset. Another problem with the Grid is that you can't make a grid patch and then load that as a module of another Grid patch, so you can't really exceed a certain level of complexity without losing the overview over your project completely. I personally just find that pretty discouraging. I rather wanna use just the routing workfows of normal effect chains in Bitwig. They are far superior to similiar workflows of other DAWs and the only real thing they are lacking is parameter randomization, like in FL Studio and Ableton.
@@Beatsbasteln I understand not wanting to use the Grid. But the version I did you can use a Hotkey of your choice and you can save it. Once you set it up it's pretty much works the same way as it does on Ableton and then you can save it as a preset as well.
huh? One of the ways to generative music is generative parameters. So, I'm not sure what that claim is about as Bitwig allows to randomize almost anything. On the topic of workflow, -while arguably "worse" (heavily depending on experience and insight) using Bitwig's Grid devices, I believe there's something truly valuable to say for creating the generator yourself instead of dl-ing someone else's' stuff to generate things you had next to no influence on apart from choosing chords or scales. The workflow argument is also relatively subjective/personal. As for seeding randomized stuff and reloading those: If you want more control you should either implement that, design your patch like that, -which is totally possible with grid devices... Or just don't bother with randomized parts. You can totally adopt almost any grid patch into almost any other patch in Bitwig btw. The Grid's audio signal flow works like any other signal flow in audio, which is very similar -if not the same as Ableton's or almost any other DAW. You can also combine devices, racks and grids if you wanted to. Its' possibilities are pretty much endless. So much so that the argument against using the grid should be that of needing to limit yourself in order to not get overwhelmed and being able to get shit done as opposed to it being limiting or discouraging. The grid isn't perfect, but either way it should be fun to use, learn (fail and succeed) and experiment with for you. If its not then just don't bother. No one actually really cares. Not to say btw, that these VR racks seem pretty amazing.
@@adirsab That's not entirely true. Some peoples brains are really just nerfed hard. Everyone has their limits, no matter how hard you push or how badly you want it. But, I do think a lot of people could achieve way more than they think they can/are achieving. Most just give up to early, don't have enough passion, and many self-sabotage, like bringing themselves down, or like here in America, destroying their bodies with processed foods and toxic chemicals (it has a real impact on your brain's cognition, gut, and endocrine system, so it is a legit point I'm making not joking). I see a lot of people who drink Ethanol heavily and start having mental decline, it is sad, or doing drugs too, and becoming less grounded in reality or also experiencing mental decline. Lots of different things you can do to achieve those things like eat healthy, fix bad mindsets, do little things to expose your brain more to whatever it is so you're more likely to have the motivation to do it, etc. Virtual Riot is just a straight up genius when it comes to music. Not everybody can get on his level because your brain has to quite literally have the capacity for it/be wired correctly for it to even be possible. No unfortunately they can’t be synced to the scale/key awareness in Ableton because there are specific key/note/transposition devices in the racks that you can use to select the key you want. So technically you don’t need them to be “scale aware” or key synced to the project. :)
Just make sure the transposition device in the rack is set to the root key of the project you’re working on and it’ll stay in that key until you change it:)
