Customer service failed big time. Don’t buy this knife. Since I do not trust customer service I am no longer going to purchase any more of these Swiss tech knives.
I would certainly give them a call because that is absolutely a heat treat problem, chances are it was overheated during the sharpening or even the grinding process causing it to be weak. I thought they were a little proud of these knives, considering what all is available on the market today. 🤷
A year ago, I bought a cheap Swisstech fishing tool set via Aliexpress. It's working, but the quality is pretty low as expected. This knife looks much better. But it isn't. Thanks for the heads up!
Thank you for the heads-up, Brother !!! If you need to take a break, take it. We'll all be here, HOLDING THE LINE, when you return. Keep up the great work !!!
No matter how much uniform heat treatment is performed on mass-produced knives, there will always be defective products. Therefore, the question is what kind of customer service is provided to the customers who are hit by defective products, and this is where the quality of the company is expressed.
I saw the letter you posted Gruggs that they sent. What a stupid thing for that company to do!!! Not backing a "defective" product, especially to an actual "popular" knife reviewer to me, is the kiss of death! I have one Swiss Tech knife, that number isn't changing! If you don't back the tools you sell (especially a knife that you could actually need), then you have no business in that business! And thank you for the heads up...
My Haltbar is fantastic, besides the sheath. Why didn’t they make this knife from VG10? They should have recognized the problem during pre production of this D2 stuff.
I'd say the odds are in your favor regarding the total number of good knives vs the total number of bad knives you've tested. You've got a low fail rate. Still, it's a bummer getting a defective knife. I hope you'll get a positive resolution.
Thank you for sharing this video. It’s nice to know that some knives have fatal flaws. I was considering buying this knife until you showed this video and spoke of the other guys blade with a rolled edge. I really like the lynxgear video! 🫡
Brother take a break. Never let your hobby turn to toil. You do amazing job. Relax we aint going anywhere. I thought the benefit to swiss tech was Walmart warranty. Most Walmart will take back anything. I don't worry so much when a $30 fails. The way they make production knives everyone is eventually gonna get a lemon. Coldsteel has amazing knives and you can find videos of some of their well-known products failing. I haven't seen many problems with swisstech yet. Then again very few people are doing testing nowadays. Anyway most importantly take care of yourself. We'll be here.
@@fiathedge1795 100 percent but its how customer service handles the situation for a product under warranty. And they blew it. Smoke and mirrors, bread and circus.
Definitely 100% metallurgical issue. Should have been covered under warranty through customer service. Laughable that they sent you back to Wallyworld... returns on products, exchanges, refunds count against them in the next ordering/purchasing review. At least with Ww, you get 90 days no BS money back or exchange... I have knives in my collections from all over the globe. Chinese knives have come a long way since the old days... they are utilizing better steels, learning better heat treatment methods... I mean WTF!? Who do you think makes the "high end" Reates!? Or The Microtech SOCOM's!? Some Spyderco, BEGG, KaBar, among other fine company models are being produced in china. We supply the material and the training... they learn and create copies that are just as good and dare I say sometimes better than the high cost originals. Truth hurts sometimes, but those are facts.
Stabbing a stump is considered an accident by these guys?🤡 Hope you can clear this issue with Wallyworld. Either way this doesn’t do anything for the diminished confidence in their products.
