Hammer pre nerf was the biggest pain In the ass to fight,good dmg strong m2 and an ability to bypass BLOCKING and do slugger m2 DMG was WILD and the only way to counter it was to either have high ping or out play it Now hammer I wouldn't say fell off,I still see people using it in my servers it's just that after a few nerf it's still useable,you just gotta have a brain to figure out how to play it,and also it's a defensive/offensive style,So blocking to build bar works because the style is supposed to just be working under/against peer pressure and not go off of how you're playing, Also if I'm not mistaken,you can feint the Body blow.(I may be wrong about this don't take what I said for granted) Overall I wouldn't say hammer fell off,most people aren't using it anymore bcs it's either 1:overused 2: not meta 3:didn't get anything new And last but not least Blocking to fill bar. It also did have the same issue with old sluggers M2 being near unperfect dodge-able while u can still dodge it per say you cant get a perfect dodge from it and yeah i do agree its a more defense to offense style buildimg off of pressure to exert your own What i dont like is that needing pressure from an opponent to be able to reach your own as its mostly just personal preference a match most likely wont go too far if both players bide for the other to bite
One good way i found to counter the hammer blow is to flash my block on and off. Most times the hammer blow will fail and you will be able to easily avoid it.
I have a few ideas on making Hammer just a TAD bit better 1. Make it so that it doesn't need to get punched as often like seriously it takes a year to get Body Blow back 2. If their gonna stick with the "block punches" cooldown at least buff its block especially the regen 3. Make it cooldown based but make the cooldown super long like 20 - 30 seconds
Just change how body blow works, its a pain for both users, if the enemy has good ping it hits no matter what, if it is cooldown based even 30 seconds same issue people will stall harder and hit every m1 slow making you suffer just to get body blow back, i think if they put some special requirement to block bypassing, like in anime he missed one attack on purpose just to open the block on ippo, it could work better.
The only way to utilize hammer as of now is to play it like a counter style with good block break, whereas before u could play aggressive, passive aggressive, passive, and so on. That hammer really meant a lot with this style 😂

yeah, plus hammer doesn't have fast dashes at all, so really a rework is needed, make that punches charge it and then lower the body blow to the damage to half the m2 damage but it's a 100% hit rate, basically it's so to remove the healing hp than a high damage dealer

And once they’ve learned how the grab works they just gotta wait and dodge to the right for an easy PD
I genuinely thought the way to charge it is by punching the enemy guard And if you did guard break them, that's an instant body blow recharge & reward a fully charged up body blow (after all, look at the shield damage)
Two changes that would turn Hammer from a niche pick to a solid style. 1. Increase the block health OR give it Turtle's guard regeneration. For a style that gets a lot from blocking blows, it doesn't exactly have the best guard to face tank hits. 2. Decrease the punch requirement to refill Body Blow. It takes way too many compared to the amount of punches you need to land for something like Shotgun's Speed-o-meter. Also will they please fix that darn Ultimate bug, seriously both players are intangible for like a few milliseconds after the animation plays so you can either have your punch whiff for no reason while theirs lands, or you dash back but get pulled back in.
Can confirm that it needs a rebalance regarding its ability, because if I can't use it more than twice, people shouldn't just be able to dodge or perfect dodge it, which was something that keeps happening to me. I still manage to get the "Proof of Power" title with it, so the base stats aren't awful. It should have at least some amount of it back when you get blocked (you get frustrated by the opponent blocking, so at some point, you just open it yourself), but not to the point of replacing the "block hits".
they could just make it so you could gain the ability through hitting the block of another player(albeit having a lower rate for how much you can gain) while still keeping the getting the ability through getting hit on your block
As a hammer main even with the nerf, you dont really rely on the ability right now but hes beefiness, you need to be very aggressive since hes range is so crap, and finally when successfuly using his body blow, follow up with m2 because he will either go for an m1(some m1s are really slow) or m2 since there is some stun on the ability you can go for big counter damage

The only buff that i can think of is increasing the amount of stamina it takes from the opponent, where it can remove all of the opponents stamina with 1 body blow because that was the main point of the body blow, to lower the opponents stamina The guard bypassing was just a bonus

They should rework it and make the ability disable block for 2 seconds but allow the enemy to dash away after the body blow lands and make the body blow land 100% of the time when opponent is blocking

1:17 at least hammer style is accurate to the anime as hammer had taken a bunch of damage before he considered the body blow.
