Do you utilize this as a no till drill? Can you till the ground before you plant? Would this be good for planting hay? What kind of cost am I looking at to get a good used one?
Yes I use this drill for no till. I have to catch the ground conditions just right for planting. The ground has to have enough moisture for the blades to cut it open. I use it for planting grass seed. Most of these drills go anywhere from 1 to 3 thousand dollars.
I used a Deere drill similar to that for years as a no till drill before I bought the no till drill I have now. I think that old deere did a better job than the one I have now. Most seed only needs to be 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep
Brad, watching your channel and videos is where I got the idea of using a conventional drill for over seeding. Just one of many ideas I got from TH-cam. Thanks for sharing your videos and teaching us new things.
I lucked into this one. One of my coworkers in law's had this one for sale and lift me have it at a reasonable price. It works pretty good if you catch the ground a little wet. You guys feeling better?
Yes, my drill works pretty good for what I use it for. I can't afford a no till drill so I use what I have available to me. How did the adjustments to the disc work? Thanks for watching.
getting ready to buy same one, hopefully use for sunflowers
It should work well for sunflowers.
Can you show how the chain drive works for the small grain box?
I put up a little video of the drive chain. I hope it helps.
Nice demonstration of the 510. Never been around a grain drill, so was cool to see how they work.
