Quite a controversial subject you took on here mate 😅 As long as it stays peaceful and nobody is harmed, it is everybodys right to protest against the government and its rules and regulations. My views on vaccination, big C and the regulations may differ from yours GP (also because im not fully aware of the cultural and social implications that go with it in Canada), but I still hope that the voice of the Canadian people will be heard and government will act accordingly. 😊 P. S.: So your next video will be about religion I heard? 😉
Indeed I did 🙂 It's possible our views on vaccination differ, but I don't think I made my stance on vaccination clear in this video. Yes, I oppose the mandates because I don't enjoy seeing my fellow citizens violated in this way, but I'd rather not get into the scientific debate about vaccine efficacy. Not my area tbh, hence why I left it out of the commentary. Even if the vaccines were perfect, the mandates still wouldn't be warranted in my view. I agree that this protest must remain peaceful, despite provocation from the police, mayor, prime minister, and any planted goons. It is my hope that the protesters resist the natural human tendency to take the bait. There's a lot riding on their success. And perhaps one day I will touch on religion. Not quite ready for that yet 😂 Thanks for watching! We'll be back to our regular programming shortly 😉
Thank you for your comprehensive answer GP! I'm not keen to lead virological or medical discussions either, as these are not my fields too. Honestly, I'm also much too tired for that when I'm on your channel at 9pm 😴 I'm curious and look forward to you whisper about religion 😂 I'm sure you'll also make a relaxing ASMR video out of this topic (but pay attention, I'm an atheist 😈). Hehe, I have to thank you for always making such chilled videos and for the fact that you seem to take time for your community! 😊
I'm on work in Ottawa and I haven't been able to sleep nor been able to work with all the honking going on. It has sucked. None the less I hate these restrictions.
I have great sympathy for you and all those experiencing impediments to their daily life over in Ottawa. It really does suck that you're experiencing this. For a short time, I lived about five blocks from parliament so right now I'm picturing how it would have affected me, and I would be frustrated too. I hope our Prime Minister starts listening to the "fringe minority" of which you and I are a part. I just want this to be over already. If I sound giddy in the video, it's because I am excited to see restrictions lifted. I do not however enjoy witnessing the collateral damage coming along with the demonstration. May I ask if you have participated in the festivities in front of Parliament? What is it like on the ground there? I am hearing mixed reports, and I don't trust the legacy media one bit.
@@generalpurposeasmr5737 so I am from Toronto and here for work. I have not joined in at all. Too cold and if I went down to support it I would be fired from my job. However I did walk by some stores. I had beer thrown at me for wearing my mask. A few coworkers have been harassed as well. The fringe minority are the one doing harrassment, nazi flags, pissing on Terry Fox statue etc. Most are Peaceful. I believe the truckers are about mandates, restrictions but the politicians on conservative side I think they want something else. I want restrictions to end. 90 percent was vaccinated media, Trudeau pushed once we hit that we will go back to normal. We are still waiting. We did what you said now open it up. Haven't been able to see my dad in 2 years because of restrictions. Such a piss off.
Love your content as always but I don't really see the issue with vaccine mandates. Vaccinations have been required to cross various borders, attend school, work in medicine, for decades. If a trucker wants to preserve their bodily autonomy, they're more than welcome to find a different job.
Thanks, I appreciate you taking a moment to comment and I hope the video was relaxing despite the perhaps, charged content. This is a very multifaceted issue and not just about vaccines. The violation of basic rights needs to be demonstrably justified. As far as I am aware, this has not happened. It's possible that there are technicalities that let various individuals and organizations off the hook, but in truth, there are no technicalities when it comes to morality. When viewed from a big-picture perspective, it becomes clearer and clearer that this is more about control than it is about health and safety. If it were about health, we would have seen a very different approach to the crisis, especially now as the threat subsides and mandates are being lifted elsewhere. Discussing the border mandate in isolation from its context won't be very productive. One has to make too many assumptions about vaccine and early treatment efficacy, along with assumptions about (but not limited to) economic, psychological, and geopolitical implications of government policies. The border mandates may have been the trigger, but the problem has been brewing for some time now. As I eluded to above, I think this is a crisis of values, not medical treatments. Canada at this moment is struggling with its national identity. To the delight of many, its foundations are crumbling. I do not wish to see this happen. I see the good in the values that got us to where we are today, those of personal freedom and responsibility, bodily autonomy, unity, and tolerance, among many others. I want to see Canada return to normal, not a new normal. I believe it is utterly wrong to draw a bright line around an identifiable group of people and proceed to bar them from participating in normal life, especially without any justification for it. It's very dehumanizing, to say the least. Anyways, as I said at the top I appreciate your comment, despite our apparent disagreement.
Here's an update on what it looks like as of Friday, Feb 4th:

See you in the next video :)
