The poor girl had braces on her teeth and was very self concious about them. But the group, and especially Johnny, singing brought out a smile regardless of them. I'm sure she grew up to be a beautiful woman with great memories of this moment. Sha Na Na is the best.
I'm a grown man (straight) and this video brought tears to my eyes.......so sweet and touching. I was lucky enough to see Sha Na Na over 20 times since 1971, and they always will be the greatest in my book. Truly professionals and they ALWAYS gave their all. I had the opportunity to work security at a Sha na na concert during a local music festival. I was assigned to be just outside the dressing room where they kept their many costumes. I got to watch the entire concert from just off stage. When one of the members was not performing he would stand off stage and visit with me while waiting to go on. Greatest concert I've been fortunate to see.
This is so sweet. This girl is now a woman but I bet she remembers this as a high point in her life. I know I would be telling my grandkds about it and I bet she will too.

I remember seeing this show! I was so jealous! I was about 12 then, I would've given my right arm to be in that girls place! Such a beautiful performer! I missed him so much after he left Sha na na.

So agree Shawnlynn..growing up in the early 60's I had no reason to question that the good times would go on for ever..music reflects those times, and sadly the musical garbage we are force fed every day now is reflective of the times we now live in. I found that I am a cousin to the writer of this song, Jimmy Duncan wrote this song in 1957, I am related through my great-great grandparents Joseph and Carrie Duncan. I re-watch this video because it is good!!

Well, just listened to Bobby Helms version, beautiful, Bobby Vinton is the artist I remember doing this song and he was great. However, to me Johnny is the best version.
I asked Johnny Contardo for a kiss after one of his concerts. I wasn't expecting that kind of kiss but, it's a great memory especially because it was my first kiss. Glad I didn't ask for an autograph.
