I went thru this with my son when he was younger. I always tried to get the meds in the first or second bite if possible. Keep trying and you will find something that works for him❤️💪🏻
Emily if you do a go fund me, I suggest you get the more permanent safe bed that will grow with him for years to come , as well as the travel version. I know we can raise enough $ for both very easily if you do the go fund me. I don't think you have any idea how much we all love you and your family. I think we can raise the $$ in just a few days. I know they are extremely expensive but remember you cannot put a price on your child's safety and if we can all help, please please let us help.
Emily, maybe try something like PECS which are printed out pictures so a child can choose what they are wanting to communicate. Maybe Sawyer will get less frustrated if he can use pics for a while.
(Yes, I might have mixed in a bowl first, is there a food he likes more? I always eat "no sugar added" applesauce, it does get bland after while - maybe add a pinch of sweetener, the good sweetener, monk fruit) KNOW THIS - YES, WE WILL HELP YOU OUT, RIGHT PEOPLE??? YES.... THUMBS UP.!!!
Being a nurse I find from experience with meds in apple sauce it’s best to mix all into about one spoonful then it’s done in one bite and it’s less of a fight to try and get a whole apple sauce in.
Cheyenne Lowry as a doctor who takes a lot of medication and who has children of my own, I agree, although it might be hard to put 5 capsules in one spoonful, but even a couple would be useful.
I think you’re right he’s smart😊That’s lovely for Wyn and Harrison and your Dad to have Saturday nights.❤️And a bit of a break for you with the littles😊 I’m glad you’re thinking more that if you can’t get the bed any other way your BIG “family” will help.I hope that takes some of the worry away for you.God bless you all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Squeeze out the apple sauce into the bowl, the break the medicine, then pour it into the pouch. If that doesn’t work I would say smoothie. Kids, even kids with disabilities LOVE smoothies
From a pediatric neurology nurse: get a small medicine cup and put some applesauce in that and then add the sprinkles and stir it. Small amount so you know he will take it all.
Not sure if you have done this or not but get a letter from griffins doctor stating his bed is medically necessary/required in order for him to thrive and be safe
Please please talk to the safe bed company and get griffin the larger bed. So you don’t have to struggle to fund more than one as he grows!! I will support this cause as much as I am able and I know we have a good community here that would also! Secondly, have you tried yogurt in the pouches instead of apple sauce, to mix his meds in? Might be worth a shot Also
No offence, but maybe you shouldn't title this thing with "tantrum". As a person with autism I find it really difficult when people say "tantrum" because that makes the whole situation worse.
My son is considered verbal but he really struggles. He can’t always answer us right in the moment. He screamed a lot when he was Sawyers age. I’d be happy to help if you need someone to talk to.
Sign language might hrlp you communicate with the boyd. You could do with 3 colored cards to tell thr kids to stop wait go traffic light system. Younger Kids do understand colours and pictures more. You doing so well big huge hugs to you all. You can look up cards to help with speech is what I mean 😊❤
Emily, can Griffin eat GoGurt? I am thinking maybe to try buying those and cut one in half and use one half and stand up the other half in a coffee cup to save for the next day dosage. But Im thinking to mix up the capsules in only a half of a GoGurt in a small bowl or cup and spoon feed that to Griffin with the mixture so that he doesn't have to down as much after he has eaten dinner. Or just use various youvurt
Mix his meds in a little bit of vanilla ice cream.my son took seizure meds until he was 5 and we had to put it in ice cream we just mixed it and fed it to him it worked perfectly.
also RE griffin's medication if he works out the side ziper on those pouches you could try what we did for mathew dumped out the powder from the capsules melted it in a tiny bit of warm water to stop clumps squeazed the apple sauce out the bag int a bowl but keep the empty bag for in a minute tip the tablet liquid you made in with the apple sauce and before hand get some big syringes from your chemist (if you can't get any i'll go buy you some new ones they arrive sterile but for this purpose can be washed and re used suck the apple sauce into the syringe and squirt it back into the apple sauce pouch (best way we found to refill it down that narrow neck then give to griffin its his usual apple sauce packet so he shouldn't refuse it he wont be able to rip open the side because the pouch the sauce comes in has no zipper sorry this is so long i hope you see it as it worked a treat for us pm me if you need anymore medicine hiding tips lol i've had to learn to be a medicine ninja xD
I have a question and you may have already answered this. Is Griffin's doctor filling out the papers for the appeal. If the doctor(S) are not putting in why he needs it, etc, they will not pass it through. They don't take our word for it. It has to be the doctor saying. Just a thought anyway. My idea on the squeeze thing for his meds. Find something that has a lot of flavor, spicy whatever that he likes and try that. That should cover the taste of the med.
💯 we will pitch in if you start a GoFundMe! I hope something gets figured out soon so you don't have to stress out so much. That's annoying to deal with
Know you pointed out some discolouration on your skin. It is probably melasma from pregnancy. It gets darker when you get a bit of sun. You need to try to treat hyperpigmentation although it's tough to do without using expensive lasers and stuff.
It is so hard to understand your kid sometimes and it is really hard but if you guys know sign language then maybe try that like say In sign language what is wrong with
Have you thought of going down the media route Emily regarding Griffin’s bed? You know we’d all help with a GoFundMe but I’m with you..Id this is happening to you, imagine the thousands of other parents it’s happening to. It’s just not right. You don’t need this additional stress right now, but I wonder if contacting a few people higher up, & writing to some newspapers might get things rolling. Regarding Griffin, have you thought of emptying his meds all onto one spoon with a big dollop of yoghurt or apple sauce, mixing it on the spoon so it’s combined (a stick of some kind? Cocktail stick? You guys call them tooth picks don’t you?) & then getting him to swallow that spoonful? I wonder if it would be easier on both of you if you done it in one full swoop rather than mixing it in a big pouch & potentially him missing some of it. Can he eat yoghurt? I can’t remember if you said or not. I know you can get little pots, so I wonder if dumping the meds in one of the tiny ones & stirring to feed him would work better? They’re only about 2 mouthfuls. Just a few suggestions my lovely. ❤️ xx
I am so frustrated for you that insurance isn’t paying for things that Griffin needs. Have you tried to mixed the medicine in water and used a liquid medicine syringe to squirt it into his mouth. I have had to use a syringe to get my son to drink water when he was sick and very dehydrated, because the hospital didn’t want to give him an IV.
Definitely call a politician to help your case Emily. I apologize if this has already been tried as I know you can't do it with all medicines, I've missed a few vlogs and I'm catching up with them🙂 Have you tried to dissolve the powder in juice and then use a syringe to give it to Griffin in his mouth? You're doing amazing Emily and our family will definitely support your Go Fund Me Page 💕
Griffin is so darn adorable! Maybe try to distract him with something else while giving him the medicine? It’s always a hassle to give lil kids medicine.
Definitely need much less applesauce. Mix pills in a tablespoon of applesauce in a bowl and then give him his pouch. You're right; kids are very smart and he knows what you're doing.
please can you not film your kids for your YT channel. Can they consent to this? No. Do you know how are they going to feel about this as adults? No. Is this going to stay on the Internet forever? Yes. Film yourself and do whatever. Kids shoul not have a camera in their faces for money. Oh you are doing it to help other parents? Professionals do that. YT will ban all family vloggers soon because in my line of work - law on childrens rights - we cannot alow this. In case of doubt of how or if it will negatively impact any of the kids filmed by parents that show daily routines etc. we choose the conservative route, in favour of children, always. Please reconsider and best of luck.

You are the most wonderful parents
God bless you sweet Emily! You are a WARRIOR Mama!

Try giving Griffin his medicine at dinner. So it is not to early in the day and so he’s not expecting it then and he’s not the only one eating.
I’m using an aac device right now I talk on it play games and watch TH-cam on it
Bless; Sawyer reminds me of my Jack. It’s so hard Mama but your doing AMAZING!!!
I know where sawyer got the looks from , he looks like harrison
Squeeze out the apple sauce into the bowl, the break the medicine, then pour it into the pouch. If that doesn’t work I would say smoothie. Kids, even kids with disabilities LOVE smoothies
Emily at 15:02 was Griffin saying "no more"? Wow...And please stop making yourself crazy and just set up a Go Fund Me. We want to help.
Its overwhelming what u manage day in day out think most people would collapse with exhaustion good job u r young enoughxx
Poor little man, maybe more sign language? TH-cam videos for everyone? He is so cute.
Katie Turley Aren’t there sign language app’s ?
I second sign language, it has worked wonders with my asd girl
Also picture cards that he can choose from can be helpful

I’m new to this channel. Have you tried communication photographs to help Sawyer make choices? He certainly tries to let you know what he wants!
Elisabeth Weathers Hi I was definitely thinking about getting him some of those cards I’m gonna talk to speech therapist about it this week thank you.
No offence, but maybe you shouldn't title this thing with "tantrum". As a person with autism I find it really difficult when people say "tantrum" because that makes the whole situation worse.
I cannot imagine having your patience, I hope you can get a good helper and the financing for it. I admire your skills as a mom

Yogurts that is that you find he likes the taste of so to switch up the flavors.
What about a keto smoothie for the meds? It could go into the pouch

Griffen looks so little 😢in this episode
Does he like pudding or even ice cream? Can you hide it in other foods? Keep trying girl!! Your doing AMAZING!!!
We’ve tried sugar-free pudding he hated it and he doesn’t like cold things so ice cream wouldn’t work 🙁
I would of mixed in water and then dissolve it in a drink or mix in a bowl first so you know it’s all within the apple sauce x
Try mixing meds and. Applesauce with a blender. A few pulses and then add to container.

I'm sure that 5 capsules makes whatever he's eating taste bad/weird. Poor Griffin. 😟😘
Know you pointed out some discolouration on your skin. It is probably melasma from pregnancy. It gets darker when you get a bit of sun. You need to try to treat hyperpigmentation although it's tough to do without using expensive lasers and stuff.
if all else fails do a gofund me we will help I know its easier said than done but don't stress out griffin will get his bed one way or another xxx
How about mixing into part of his dinner and giving him that Portion later In the day so hes hungry still
It is so hard to understand your kid sometimes and it is really hard but if you guys know sign language then maybe try that like say In sign language what is wrong with

Isn't it possible to maybe give his meds before dinner when he's hungry? Love from Namibia ❤️
I don't know how you cope. I'd have got in the car and gone for an hours drive to have some silent time.
Griffin reminds me of my dog when i try to hide his worm tablet in food. Even thing's he shouldn't really have. xx
Definitely call a politician to help your case Emily.

I know its hard
Hair looks great
Hope your doing better your self
Definitely need much less applesauce. Mix pills in a tablespoon of applesauce in a bowl and then give him his pouch. You're right; kids are very smart and he knows what you're doing.
You can also use sugar free ice cream!
Have you tried putting Griffins medicine in some sugar free pudding or with a little ice cream? He may like that better.
I was going to suggest that! I believe they even make ones from almond milk if cow's milk is an issue with Griffin.
They have tried pudding and he hates cold. I am the same
Go fund goforit. Emily. The bestway
Chocolate pudding with medicine?
Let us all know what we can do xx
Mine 2 kids have always slept in . From day one. They take after me. They love sleeping in like me lol.
Love your smile.
Griffin refuse spoon? Always? Why insurance refuse liquid médecin? Good luck I send you a bunch of energy
Would love to help Emily!
Would your community do a fund raiser? Like a race or something
Talk to six blind kids they may be able to help
Look to Jesus.life is hard but GOD is good!!!Jesus loves you and your family.💖🙋
Maybe try putting it in a drink that he loves. Or put little in food and little in drink.
I would try pudding at this point with the meds
Try it again because maybe he wasn’t hungry
If only the pouches were smaller, for smaller amounts
Maybe Griffin would take his medicine with syringe/ injection like you give ibuprofen syrup to the kids.
Sawyer said me so maybe that means sesa(me) street, that’s what I’m thinking. It’s like he said the smaller words from the bigger word.
Oh and griffin can taste the medicine, I think that could be why he is refusing it or he is just being a kid lol.
Maybe make the applesauce in smaller portions, a couple of bites and he is all done!!
God bless you Emily and that. 🍎 sauce. Feeding. Yes he is smart. Stress fuli no it!!!!
PLEASE! Go Fund me!
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Have u tried sugar free pudding for Griffin. May work.
💯💜🇨🇦⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you Karen. So glad you were appointed judge. Having freshly lost her mother, your criticism is appreciated.
🧐 I'm sure she's here making millions with these videos. If the older children didn't want to be filmed they would tell her.
