    I hope that, more than anything, episodes like this show you that you’re capable of performing good analysis. Critical analysis isn’t a superpower, it’s a skill like anything else. If you trust yourself, and take your time, you can do what I do 💫💫

      Thank you bliss.I don't have a key to the metrics of fashion but I somehow doubt People of Color have much say in this business. Please understand this is a social criticism not aesthetic or design criticism. There has been a rightful push to be inclusive with model. But to what end?. Does that really doesn't add up to much. Not the people on the front row. or the buyers on the next row and so on and so on. I believe we need to move our target to where it really makes a difference. Ideas? Yes. there is nothing better than a Martine Rose or Gypsy Sportor Pyer Moss that I believe have a depth of an ecosystem - buyers stylists, pr, and so on - that matters. But how many of these guys makes it on the pages of vogue runway. Thanks

    thank you for these videos on Virgil,,I'm new into the fashion world and I've been using your youtube channel as a way to learn new things and get to know the history of this industry. Seeing the mark that virgil made and the different door he opened for people of melanin has did nothing but boost my confidence. I know it wont be tomorrow or next week but I'm stocked about the journey im about to go on to get to the same position virgil was once in. Hopefully one day I can pay tribute to him and show others that it is possible for them.

    Maaaan everything about this video was beautiful. It was way more than I had expected. And I can’t lie, I began to tear up towards the ending. Thank you bliss and the people who contributed to this. And thank you for all the work you put into this channel, it’s truly amazing, I’ve learned so much from it. Not only fashion wise, but also what the fashion you talk about teaches

    I rewatched this today, I had some new thoughts.
    The figure 8, infinity symbol and many of the looks use the hourglass shape.
    The hourglass is a timing device, it’s finite, and requires a conscious turn to reset and to restart a new passage of time. This feels like a symbol of the end, but the start of something new.
    “The hourglass, sometimes with the addition of metaphorical wings, is often depicted as a symbol that human existence is fleeting, and that the "sands of time" will run out for every human life….” - Wikipedia.

    Everyone did a great job and had wonderful ideas.
    Virgil did a fantastic job.
    I’ve never cared for LV and I skipped almost every show for years but he made the brand more relatable to me.

    this video is a bit old, yes, but i'm just seeing it. I started becoming interested in fashion only a few weeks ago. My knowledge on most things is, of course, vague. So far, ive mostly watched runway shows (Especially Versaces, since they capture my eyes the most), and i still dont know a whole lot about modern fashion history. I heard about Virgil's passing through social media as some celebrities i followed payed their respects to him, so i only know his name. This video was like entering in the middle of chemistry class without understanding anything they were talking about, but the remarks, connections, and references made were just brilliant and mind blowing. I still dont know a whole about fashion as a more "artful" thing rather than "aesthetically pleasing". My analising abilities dont go that far, but this showed me how even the tiniest little details as shoes can represent something important and creativce and genius. This was truly mind blowing. This made me want to look more into Virgil and his works (and thats what i´ll do!!)
    All and all, since i started my journey only as little as days ago, ive already stumbled upon your channel lots of times and you have truly been super helpful. The fashion world feels as a giant ball of things, references, concepts and a million tiny details to unpack and it looks quite overwhelming, but i cant wait to learn as much as i can!

    In the wake of Virgil’s sudden demise it is no contest that Virgil is the blueprint for how to approach creativity with love and a sense of WONDER that is almost child like and honing one’s creativity to create a polished and well thought out work. Rest easy soldier you’ve served well. 🕊

    The sheer amount of historical and cultural references, easter eggs and playful elements amaze me. We truly do stand on the shoulders of giants, thank you Virgil. It is up to us to continue his legacy by embracing our childlike wonder and making art the child or 17 yr old version of us would love.
    Thank you bliss and the community for contributing to this amazing video. I'd love to see more of these.

    on the post that Tyler made to commemorate Virgil's death, he said '' but Virgil was ALWAYS a cheerleader. For everyone.''

    In look 45 13:22, the model is wearing in their waist what looks like a chalk bag, which is used in gyms, but specially, it is used when climbing. I guess it could be a reference to the bag you talked about earlier, and the climb to heaven idea. Which could also hace to do with the look being all blue, like if it was in heaven

    thank you so much for making these videos they never fail to put me in a state of awe. everything from virgil's sentiments, skill, to identity as a poc is truly an inspiration for kids like me who want to use their creativity to their fullest potential; making art you love, representing your people and being a good role model. love from india

    • @shinichibaadkar79
      @shinichibaadkar79 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the way virgil bought a part of black culture to his work we need to bring our indian culture to our work

    • @rwitabina
      @rwitabina 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shinichibaadkar79 yess oml, there are a few prominent designers and creatives but it isn't done enough on an international level where its more about symbolism and empowerment. huge factor would be ofc the culture denying a lot of creative occupations but we're taking baby steps into reclaiming that power (also like our creative heritage is so rich we need more people embracing it).

    One thing I think about the see through bag is in reference to the invisible woman Air Force one’s from 2006. They were a phenomenon and many bootlegs were made using the same see through design sake which became extremely popular in the hood. It was an important time for sneakers and is an interesting piece of history I feel Virgil would pay homage too.

    Honestly, watching these videos on V, has made me feel more and more towards him as a person, a human and a designer. I feel as I never really looked into his work the way you look into his work or anyone of that matter of fact. I think it reminds me of the time we have and how we can do so much with it, V done so much in the time he had and it really showed through his runways, references and his heart for what he was passionate about. Towards the ending, brought my emotion out which I thank you for and V, especially the poetic reading. life is limitless, do the best you can.

    The bag attached to the belt in look 45 as well as in a few other looks reminds me of the chalk bags climbers use (when climbing you use chalk so that your hands don't sweat and you have a good grip to the holds). The bag ist usually worn either clipped directly to the climbing harness or on a small belt around the waist. This would also be a reference to climbing.

  • @shinichibaadkar79
    @shinichibaadkar79 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Firstly Yes miss you virgil. Secondly just realized while watching this and can be wrong but the cover looks like instagram's default story background which may be paying homage to the fact that he build his entire brand offwhite though ig and he was soo engaged with the community on instagram.
    Other than that I really hope tyler would get a chance as the creative director someday because that man is a genius in his depiction of art.
    For the LV blurred out bag which looks for me it seems like seeing something while closing your eyes where stuff starts to blur out. He was working hard at LV and on this collection even during his final stage.

    Wow this is a very amazing way of putting this show into words, to all the people that came up with there own interpretations , I thank you a lot for giving up the bigger picture and realizing the references Virgil may/may-not have made every one of them made so much sense in this show, Virgil is truly the embodiment of " one of a kind" because what he did was so amazing he opened door for a lot of people and inspired the colored, I wanted to meet Virgil one day bit unfortunately that won't happen anymore nonetheless I will always aspired and love his work good or bad because he truly was a creative genius and I don't really care of what people say about it because everyones work is unique to them and there story, I want to thank him for truly inspiring us to reach our creative goals and dreams because they'll never be another Virgil. I you read this I hope your doing well, I hope you reach your dreams and never give up no matter how hard life hits you. Keep it pushing keep it moving because eventually your dreams will get tired of running from you. 🙏🏽 💫🧠
