Totally random but have you ever considered utilizing your decor and adding a few small elements to create a scavenger hunt throughout the store? Since you've done so much rearranging and hopefully have lots of new customers coming in, it could help people get acquainted with the new layout and just a fun new way for interacting. Prize for completion could be a unique bookmark or sticker! (Just a thought from a person who loves puzzles and wants to add them to every small business lol)
You should make some unique and cute signs for each category of books. Laminate them so they don’t tear and such. Would elevate it a bit. Maybe. I love the book store. You’re living my dream to be completely honest. 😂
I admire your restraint, Clio and Carla. If it were me, I'd be hiding in a corner somewhere in the shop, reading a book, while my partner did all the work! I'm guessing there may be time for that once everything is the way you want it and business is BOOMING. Please keep in mind that a small minority of your customers may be afraid of doggies, as I'm in that small minority. Your doggos are just adorable and very well trained (kudos to you), but please be ready to run interference as needed, just in case. I know you're aware of this but I just wanted to put it in writing. Luv you both so much!
Are there those little free book libraries people have on their lawns/curbs in your town? We have a number of those where I live and people love them, especially the ones on in-town bike trails. You could use those to drop off some of the rejects to see if other people want them, so they don't get thrown away. You never know whose trash is another's treasure.
Yes, we do have those around here! But we don’t throw away our books unless they’re falling apart or moldy. Any rejects get donated to local charities, but going around to little free book libraries is also a great idea!

Fun idea: What if you offered "Loot boxes". Essentially, you could wrap a couple of sets of books in Kraft paper, label them for a specific price, and people could buy them without knowing what's inside. Say, $5 for 5 mystery books, or $10 for 10 chapter books. Then, have a wild card. Randomly selected books of different generes all in one package.
I absolutely loved this video. It was so relaxing and calming, great editing, loved all the camera angles. I especially loved how you opened the video with the dogs waking you up and showing your mornings. It was so cinematic m, I felt like I was watching a movie 😊
