I think your misunderstood it is actually a fully operating concrete truck at its full size but the only thing unusual about this is how big that giant is building this sculpture
@@gardenman3 actually that depends During the construction of the hoover dam they likely used the railroad to deliver the concrete then used the cranes to pour it

Being a civil engineer myself, I was in awe looking at the details of the selfweight dam. The spillway ,dissipators everything was there where it supposed to be. Reminds me of Sardar sarovar dam.

@@nyetloki hi , it's called end sill or baffle and the flat part between the gate and sill is called apron together they are called dissipators. 🙌

Really hard
Like they need to see if the bedrocks are strong enough, then build a diversion channel, then build two cofferdams from either side of the place where the dam will be constructed, then the concrete pouring( it should be not too hot when being poured to the mould because it can cause cracks to the dam itself, then before filling the dam reservoir, remove the coffer dams before you fill it with water. But before all of this you need to plan on what places will be affected by the dam downstream and the places affected by the dam reservoir filling.

If only they remembered the sluice gates, which feed water to the river from the lake. Without them, the flood gates would have to be up every moment of the day. Those are the tainter gates he installed.

Simply because it’s the same sort of engineering skills but on a different scale! One is mini, the other is real world size! Same type of engineering skills apply though..
@@vladimator1842 I’m not insulting this guy’s intelligence. He’s very smart, but there is a big difference. You have to look at structural support and the force’s exhibited on it. You also have to take into account the elements it’s exposed to. Also it’s on a much larger scale, you can’t just make stick some cardboard onto a frame and pour it. You’re an idiot if you think you need the same intelligence levels to do these.

It's not cardboard they stick together or wire it's sheets of wood and long lengths of rebar, it is the same thing, but on a different scale with different material (except for the concrete). True, this guy doesn't have to worry about weather, but he's still following the same plan as an actual dam, and besides, it holds back water and won't be coming down anytime soon, so it's a dam. Silly.

Love it when he says "we are building a miniature dam" I just came looking for the original
Why do you still watch DIY and life hack channels? The tutorials are at garbage levels of creativity and safety of you and when they make it it's an epic thing but when you make it it's pure garbage. Why? That's because they use other materials more than the one mentioned in the video, and with the case of 5 minutes crafts, they outright make dangerous stuff and fool their viewers. Such as in the case of one video, they put strawberries in bleach for absolutely no reason at all, and people fell for it. They consumed the strawberries, got food poisoning, and then died. Oh and also they couldn't make a lawsuit because they were dead.

The craftsmanship behind it makes it so entertaining to watch
I would be just as impressed, but when I saw the end product I was very disappointed. There are no sluice gates on this tiny dam. They allow the water to continually flow through the dam from the lake which makes up the river on the other side. Without them, the river will be dry. The only gates I am seeing are those used for flooding, the tainter gates.
I am wowed by the video, yes, but not nearly as impressed since this person forgot about the most important part...!

Damn amazing! The most amazing part is the construction of pillars to cast it in concrete. I mean most models is often styrofoam that is painted. This is real materials. Again amazing!

The wire frame method is exactly the same as in real construction. I salute you for this incredible amount of detail.

the frame is needed so it doesnt collapse on itself, its not really detail its a necessity

As I do renovations and construction, two things. This guy has quite a bit of time on his hands. Impressive that he built it that well. Kudos well done.

If you are an engineer, you'd notice they forgot the sluice gates, which provides water for the river.
Building miniatures are more tough then building big one's
