Hi Jeff, I've been to the Chicago O'Hare Tower and number of times and here's some advice on how they coordinate arrivals to cross the departure parallel runways: [Tip #1] When the aircraft lands on the arrival runway, TOWER tells them to "stay with me" and TOWER is responsible for getting them across the departure runway. Once they cross the active departure runway, THEN they hand them off to GROUND. This prevents the coordination and delay between TOWER and GROUND of trying to see when there is a good time to send an aircraft across. Which is why you were always asking Buggs if it was clear to taxi an aircraft across. Keep the arrivals with Buggs and once he taxis them across his departure runway, he can hand them off to you! [Tip #2] Also, another way ORD prevents delays with parallels is Intersection Departures and have the taxiing arrival aircraft taxi BEHIND that intersection to cross the active departure runway without any delays. Hypothetical example, if you send them to depart Runway 27R at intersection [S], then you could taxi arrival aircraft from Runway 27L via [N6] [N] [D] [M-to the ramp]. That way you don't even have to coordinate with the Tower. Just offering some tips on what I've seen in the real world! Love your videos!
Well that went South pretty quickly. LOL. Couple tips: -Create a traffic flow game plan before starting. -Every time you issue a taxi instruction, it causes the plane to pause its movement. Keep that in mind. -Gotta get planes off the gates as soon as they call if at all possible. This should be Ground’s priority at ATL. -Listen to readback of instructions. Otherwise, you miss some “negative” or “my gate’s blocked” responses. -Keep planes with Tower until runway crossings are done, safer and more realistic at very busy airports like this. Plus you don’t waste time talking between tower & ground when it’s busy. -Use consistent taxi routes, especially for arrivals, even if the route is really long for the plane. This keeps planes flowing in same direction and avoids head-to-head collisions. Plus it’s hard to keep track of multiple planes each on their own customized taxi route.
Tip for ya Jeff: I own this game myself and I discovered a command you can use to tell the planes to exit at different taxiways, before they land you can tell them "{CALLSIGN}, EXIT AT TAXIWAY {TAXIWAY}". For instance, if I wanted to get Delta 229 off the runway at N2, I'd tell them "DAL229, EXIT AT TAXIWAY N2". You need to give them clearance to land beforehand though... If it worked, they'll repeat the instruction back to you just like normal, if it didn't work, they'll tell you "Unable to land, the runway is too short" because you're basically only giving them part of the runway, and the part you're giving them is too short. Just choose a different taxiway if that is the case. :) For DAL852 and DAL72, you were telling them to continue taxi, but you haven't given them taxi instructions to the ramp. Pretty sure that's what happened. Plus, the follow company command is for departures only, it doesn't work on arrivals otherwise it'll direct them to a runway where a plane of their company is taking off.
Jeff you gotta give them taxi instructions to the gate. The map is you're best friend to see the route you gave them. Also DAL29 was an arrival. Use the STRIP on the side to verify that. Other than that you're amazing.
Planes are hanging up because you’re telling the, to continue taxiing but in the craziness you’re forgetting that you never gave them taxi instructions in the first place so they have nothing to continue.
I noticed a couple things in the future you should know. When telling a plane to Continue Taxi, make sure they have a highlighted path first. If they don't have a path, they wont move. When you said Follow Company, you sent arrivals to takeoff again. Also, after a plane lands, they need to reach a specific point of the first exit ramp before you can tell them to taxi any further. This is why you had a backup on Runway 28 because the planes never reached that checkpoint.
Hey, Jeff and Buggs sorry I didn't see this sooner. I play out of KATL all the time and there is a trick to Runway 10/28. Just like the real Airport RWY 10/28 has 2 hold points.. 1 right off the runway to get the gate assignment (or taxi to ramp in tower3d) and 2 is the hold point to get clearance on Taxi Way SG. Reason being is SG is a narrow Taxi Way from the off-ramps of the runway. So here is the trick, the plane will stop first right off the runway, this is where you tell it to taxi to ramp etc. The second one is the plane will then hold at the numbers on your ADIRS ( SG2 - SG16) this is when you have to tell the plane to continue to taxi. If you follow that you should have no issues. Also In real KATL, the ATC puts planes in order on Arrival Runways. So try keeping them in order and you will have a good Plane separation pattern. Example start from RWY 26L and work your way down (26,27,28) or (8,9,10) and just keep doing it. Hope that Helps, Hope you see this and keep up the great Vids, love you guys.
I think you identified the issue with why there was a bottleneck of aircraft not moving. The Tower was turning them over to Ground before they had finished their landing, meaning before the message popped up that the landing was successful. So you have a bunch of aircraft that technically were still in the air and under control of Tower, and the hand off was not registering. If he would have waited until AFTER the successful landing message, then Ground would have been able to give the command and it would have been carried out. Other than that, I can't think of why those aircraft would not be responsive to commands.
To be really technical, at ATL, taxiway D is actually called "taxiway Dixie" because of Atlanta being a major Delta Airlines hub. I guess it's to avoid confusion between Delta Airlines and Taxiway Delta.
Those planes like Delta 755 at 19:05 aren't taxiing because they haven't been told to taxi to ramp. They just came off runway 27L holding on the exit ramp. Same with most of the others that got deleted. I think 1 was super bugged though, set the precedent that this was a game issue.
Thanks to you Jeff I'm addicted to this game know LOL..... I don't know how you guys can keep up with this, I'd be really lost. By the way I think that when the planes don't move even after you tell them "continue taxi" try telling them instructions (sometimes again) on what taxi ways to take. In other words, when you click on the planes and they don't have a blue line leading to their gate they won't move.
I think the reason they won't move off the rapid exit taxiways is because you're saying "CONTINUE TAXI" ... I think it would work better if you say "TAXI TO TERMINAL" or "TAXI TO RAMP" or give them an entire taxi route.
when the planes refuse to cross some runway's and just cause a trafficjam, it is because you didn't designate a taxi route for them. when you select them they will show their designated route. if you select them and there is no route, that's when they block.
Those lost deltas were never given taxi instructions... Check the blue line. When they come off the runway, they never have a route Also, you don't lose points for deleting, you only lose the opportunity points
Bravo, Gents! You are a great trainer, Jeff, as Buggs is so much better at the game. Please do more, maybe not ATL, only because traffic this heavy requires more than 2 controllers. Like LAX, there would be 2 locals and 2 grounds. Even so, you guys are a great combo, no matter the game.
I love these LOL! You guys should do KPHL together. I think the problem with the exiting aircraft not moving was because you told them to continue taxi before you told them to taxi to ramp/terminal
I think one of the reasons planes were stuck on the taxi way after they landed was because you didn't tell them to taxi to the ramp / terminal. If you only tell them to continue taxi after they exit the runway, they will not move.
Jeff, you having the planes taking off with the wind to their backs. Should they be taking off into the wind? Or that the wind too low to worry about wind angle for east take off? Also..... They not moving if they don't get the command to ramp.
@Jeff Favignano I believe that the airplanes at the exit ramps won't move is due to the fact that they have no taxi route so when you give them a continue taxi instruction, the airplanes have no route to continue taxi.
I like these guys when they play this game but crazy things is the stress level increases each time a different plane doesn't listen to them the same thing in real life
I’ve been to the Atlanta airport so many times I can’t count it lol 😂 I’ve took delta international to go to the Bahamas. And it is crazy busy. So I now how it feels lol 😂.
Woo Tower3D is back!!! More!!! Do a series of videos touring all of the available airports. Wish they'd introduce international airports. Imagine Sydney, Heathrow, Dubai, Paris CDG, Schipol, Manchester, Frankfurt all on this game.
hahaha very funny video! good video! and jeff, if you want that youre plane exit from the runway at taxi way you want, and that will make less problems, you can say: "CALLSIGN, EXIT AT TAXI WAY XXX.
It's not graphically the same, but did you ever play the Tracon series? It's pretty good for area control especially approach and departure. Or for a more realistic area control there's ATC Pro but the skill curve is way difficult!
This has been one of my favourite games, and as an introduction into the world of ATC games it's been great. I went into Tracon 2012 after this, which has a similar basic style but more complexity as you're controlling departure/center/approach respectively, but for the ultimate reality I went with ATC Pro, great STARS interface and voice interaction with controllers either side of you - something you fancy trying out?
No ATL is literally the busiest airport in the world. Georgia is basically the biggest trading hub on the east coast. Tons of flights connect through here, and we have the savannah/Brunswick ship ports down south

I'm really glad this series made a return! You and Buggs are hillarious as ATCs
Seeming you and buggs want to play more diverse games, instead of DOJ, you should coop more stuff, would be awesome.
Jeff you gotta give them taxi instructions to the gate. The map is you're best friend to see the route you gave them. Also DAL29 was an arrival. Use the STRIP on the side to verify that. Other than that you're amazing.

Yes, I miss these, I loved this series. Hope you and buggs do more
I just love how he's yelling continue taxi to planes that have not been given taxi instructions yet :P
At some point, it should dawn on you to simply repeat taxi instructions.
I haven't listened to atc radio in a long time. I forgot how hectic it is. I was getting stressed watching this. Great video as always, Jeff!
I just bought this game yesterday after watching a few of your videos. I can't believe how quickly time goes by while playing it.
I noticed a couple things in the future you should know. When telling a plane to Continue Taxi, make sure they have a highlighted path first. If they don't have a path, they wont move. Omg...more more and more so funny seeing you and buggs try and do this. IT'S SO HILARIOUS...you do a good job

In real life, you would have multiple ground controllers, with their own section of the airport, in addition to a tower controller for each runway.
Those lost deltas were never given taxi instructions... Check the blue line. When they come off the runway, they never have a route
Also, you don't lose points for deleting, you only lose the opportunity points
Glad to see more Flight Simulation, ATC Simulation videos! Hope your doing good!
I agree
I think whenever you say continue taxi they don't go. try to restate the taxi instructions instead
The planes that weren't moving because they weren't given any instructions thus 'continue taxi' wasn't working?
"Delta 685, Fuck off!" - I absolutely died ahahahaha!
delta 29 you gave him follow company and the company that he saw was a outbound heading for 27R thats why jeff you thought he was a outbound
The planes didn’t taxi bcos they had no taxi instructions. All you said to them was “continue taxi”
I can give them taxi instructions and they still hang up
Bravo, Gents!
It’s back! Been wanting more Tower3D, I live near Atlanta. I’ve seen how busy it gets.
Yall should go on vatsim together.
Watching this with you and Buggs - I had to grab it and play. Very fun, very addictive, thank you for the introduction! My request would be for KLAX.
I love these LOL! You guys should do KPHL together. I think the problem with the exiting aircraft not moving was because you told them to continue taxi before you told them to taxi to ramp/terminal
It really does get crazy there I would watch how crowed it gets during rush hour
I think one of the reasons planes were stuck on the taxi way after they landed was because you didn't tell them to taxi to the ramp / terminal. If you only tell them to continue taxi after they exit the runway, they will not move.
Mark Johnson EXACTLY !!!!! It was getting on my nerves that he didnt realize that
Jeff, you having the planes taking off with the wind to their backs. Should they be taking off into the wind? Or that the wind too low to worry about wind angle for east take off? Also..... They not moving if they don't get the command to ramp.
Imagine going to work and having to deal with this clusterfuck every day. I guess that's why ATCs are paid so well...
CWINDOWSsystem32 Yeah and has the highest suicide rate
I was just playing this the other day and this airport by myself. I love playing this game
Maybe start with 25% traffic ,100% is just asking for chaos.
can you do another one of these videos? Loved these types of videos
Please do more xplane content i really enjoy that stuff
When Jeff said “He’s not even holding shot of the runway, he’s just being an idiot” I burst out laughing 😂.
@Jeff Favignano I believe that the airplanes at the exit ramps won't move is due to the fact that they have no taxi route so when you give them a continue taxi instruction, the airplanes have no route to continue taxi.
yeah I figured that out afterwards
So glad to see you doing this again! I stream this game and I love it haha! I also finally convinced one of my friends to play with me!
Delta 29 was given instructions to a go to a runway instead of ramp
I LOVE TOWER 3D. YAY, IT IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!
I like these guys when they play this game but crazy things is the stress level increases each time a different plane doesn't listen to them the same thing in real life
Jeff, you should start a scale model airplane collection. Film an unboxing video every time you get a new plane.
I’ve been to the Atlanta airport so many times I can’t count it lol 😂 I’ve took delta international to go to the Bahamas. And it is crazy busy. So I now how it feels lol 😂.
I'm surprised that Buggs and Jeff don't work at a real airport in the control tower. They would be good at it
Most Problems you had with the aircrafts on the Apron (Crossing the Runways), You haven't given them Taxi Instructions to Ramp
Atlanta is crazy airport,Bug should hand it over to you when the aircraft near the gate
Y'all need to do regular online again
Yall should get with airforceproud95
FYI, the reason the aircraft was stuck on the turnouts were due to the fact that you failed to provide taxi instruction.
Awesome vid with yourself and Buggs! You should look into Vatsim controlling or flying... I think you'd be able to do some great vids
The ones that aren’t moving are staying out because they haven’t been told where to go. They can’t continue taxiing without a destination.
I love flying to Atlanta. Always a blast
Ive waited so long for this!
Good to hear Buggs again!
What I will remember from this video:
Jeff: Fack fack faaack
Buggs: Brickyard?
Great video Jeff Favignano, I would love to see more of this on the channel since I'm a plane enthusiast
That was proper mental! Never seen KATL that busy before! Great play though!
Woo Tower3D is back!!! More!!! Do a series of videos touring all of the available airports. Wish they'd introduce international airports. Imagine Sydney, Heathrow, Dubai, Paris CDG, Schipol, Manchester, Frankfurt all on this game.
Olly W Don't forget Baltimore Washington International airport is one too
I recently bought this, this Airport is a PiA solo but I love it so far
The next one you should do is St.Thomas, that would be cool
Fo San Diego Because it only had one run way and would be a challenge
hahaha very funny video! good video! and jeff, if you want that youre plane exit from the runway at taxi way you want, and that will make less problems, you can say: "CALLSIGN, EXIT AT TAXI WAY XXX.
It's not graphically the same, but did you ever play the Tracon series? It's pretty good for area control especially approach and departure. Or for a more realistic area control there's ATC Pro but the skill curve is way difficult!
You didn't give the poor planes their route to their gates, where do they go. Poor pilots
definition of stupidity: repeating the same thing expecting a different result. this infuriates me so bad.
I bet you could pull it off if you got Polecat and Dave in there with you guys
what micro phone do u use
They are currently working on San Francisco.
Keep it coming!! Also I hope Buggs gets that survivor with guns and monsters game. You can put that on Pay-for-View!
I've been building new schedules for T3D pro using actual current airport departures and arrivals. Becomes a bit different game then :D
Tower 3d is on sale this weekend!
Love this game should play some more
was really wanting this!
Atlanta Is the busiest airport in the world The third one I know is LAX
I wish, the Devs adds more Major Airports around the world Like Japan, Germany and UK.
why not take off at the top/bottom and let the ladnings be on the other side????????????????
Although a longer route, taxiway Victor is great as it allows you to bypass the crossing of 26L. Great job though with the mess!
I live 20 mins from the Atlanta airport!
Yay I am in Atlanta so that’s good that you are doing hart fields Jackson international airport
Meanwhile the passengers are mad because of traffic
Is there is IAH and if so do it
Do San Diego with Polecat. He needs to try this game!
NO ROUTE = NOTHING TO CONTINUE! UGHHH! 🙄😠
Personally I would have tower keep them till they cross the runway on arrivals. They switch them to ground. In the real world that's how it works.
I Love Tower 3D Pro!!! It’s the best game ever!!!!!
I need more of these multiplayer sessions :D
Jeff you should do Las Vegas
thx for bringing this game back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So can you do any airport?
Can you change camera view to the plane
This has been one of my favourite games, and as an introduction into the world of ATC games it's been great. I live in Atlanta!!! And it’s true, Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta international airport is he busiest airport in the world. 😂
That s true
Connor Kelly jfk would be busier
No ATL is literally the busiest airport in the world. Georgia is basically the biggest trading hub on the east coast. Tons of flights connect through here, and we have the savannah/Brunswick ship ports down south
+Jeff Favignano I'd like to see San Diego & if Cincinnati (CVG) is available, I'd like to see that too!
