- Silkie chickens have fluffy plumage that feels like silk. They always look like this. They have their fluffy feathers, but there are other differences from other chickens too. They have black skin and black bones and their earlobes are blue. They come in a variety of colors and sometimes there will be a new color when they’re crossbred.

I have seen these chickens before and they are indeed silky soft and very beautiful in a way.

Where do they even sell these silkie chickens? I’m guessing they aren’t in the USA or are they? I need to do research...
I live in USA and yes they sell em where im at (southeast NM) the feed stores here have em in the spring time through early summer

A silkie chicken would die for a egg they put their egg in front of food, water and their own health. So a silkie chicken are the most loyal egg layers.

I’m replying 4 years later to this video i just found, but the girl wasn’t doing a British accent, she’s clearly an American who just has a hard time saying the “r” sound. It’s a common speech impediment.

Been breeding and showing Silkies in England for years Yes they are calm so make good pets for kids if they are looked after properly (they are not toys ) they lay smallish eggs and not that many But they are great broodies and mothers

Chickens in general make amazing pets if hand raised, but I would definitely recommend ornamental breeds (silkies, polish, serama, etc.) over egg laying breeds. It has little to do with temperament or compatibility, but egg layers have a higher chance of getting reproductive disorders that overall shorten their lifespans. Some of these would be egg peritonitis, ovarian cancer, among other things. I absolutely love all chickens, and egg layers tend to have very outgoing personalities, but they live shorter lifespans due to the stress of producing eggs, and it’s such a heartbreaking tragedy when one of them pass away.
Ornamental breeds like silkies, though, do not produce as much, and therefore aren’t as susceptible to reproductive diseases. The only problem I have with silkies is their broodiness, and that is because the Texas summers can be brutal on broody hens- but it can easily be remedied by offering plenty of water and keeping the coop well ventilated. Silkies are such awesome mothers, and will tolerate almost anything as long as they feel safe. Overall, amazing breed. I have 1 myself, and she’s the sweetest bird ever, while still being the most dominant hen in the pecking order surprisingly.

Yeah chinese eat tyem because they said it can bring back their strength or something like that😂 here in Philippines most people call them CHINESE CHICKENS because yeah they originated in china and chinese eat them... Filipino poultry workers also believe that they can bring strength back🤣 but the silkie im talkin about is a bigger silkie idk if its like some meat type because i got one like 6 years ago and its the chinese chicken and i got onw again yesterday and its the pet one😂🤣 yeha im weird
These aren't really unusual pets, lots of people get them for hatching. But yeah, people love them as pets. Also, China is the country that has them as a delicacy. Not, other countries. I think it's just China and Japan MAYBE.

It really bugs me how he doesn't let them explain themselves fully before speaking. Heather was trying to explain the birds properly and he kept interrupting to make stupid jokes, bugs the heck out of me!
Steve Harvey is not even funny. He was disrespecting these two girls. Didn't he hear that these were pets, why would he make a stupid joke about eating them. They should have appeared on a show that would have been more positive and encourage others to care for and respect these sweet little birds.

I have a black silkie hen and she is my pet but I want to her to live with me but I will like to know if Arizona allows pet chickens in neighborhoods. my pet chicken does not make loud noises mostly soft quiet noises.
TheMidnadarkness It depends on what town you live in. It's best to check with ordinances in your town. However, it's also much better to have at least 2 chickens so they don't get lonely. Good luck!

Black skin and black bones. Then there's a bird with black feathers, claws on it's wings and completely blue skin and a plant with a red stem with hair and a leaf that's twisted like a rose.

those are a breed of bird kid. Anything is edible, even you but it's frown at some societies to indulge in cannibalism. a shame really, and dogs taste like beef.
They taste wonderful the meat is naturally tender you could find them in any asian store/supermarket.
+akita setton don't think they will taste that great. or at least not as you are used to chicken. They aren't bred for meat. The chickens you are used to eat are selected over hundreds of years for edible purposes.
