I am watching this interview on 10th Oct, mental health awareness day, and it couldn't be more appropriate! What an inspirational story of resilience. As a Counsellor I applaud you for highlighting your mental health journey and advocating for therapy. People need to heal from childhood trauma otherwise we keep self-sabotaging as well as bleeding onto others.
I also noticed that the health system failed you. Psychiatrists and Psychologists need to work together for the sake of their patients. As a Psychologist, I refer my patients to a Psychiatrist when I suspect they may need medication. Psychiatrists in return need to refer their patients to Psychologist for therapy after prescribing medication, so as to deal with the root cause of the problems.
