If your chain sliders are wearing on these bikes I'd consider loosening your chain. Keefer recommends 68-70MM of chain slack. I put a chain on my 450 FE and haven't even had to adjust it. It's a game changer! Great riding bro!!

I think you saved me a 10k mistake. Been riding a 22 GG mc 450 for thr last 1.5 years. Been listening to all the pods saying how the 350 is good for a guy like me Vet B. I feel my 450 is smooth, I ride map 2 with TC on. I'm a fatter guy 5'9 190 and don't have great corner abilities yet still want to jump everything and have the bike control to do so. Riding the 450 makes all of this possible for me, and after watching your videos on the 350 makes me question if the 350 could do that for me. Thanks again for your no b.s. videos calling it how you see it. Also here in NY we have similar conditions to you guys.

Thank you! Glad I could help. I totally get what you're saying, very similar situation to mine. I have no regrets going back to a 450. Did you end up pulling the trigger on a new bike?

@moto-x No I haven't bought anything yet. Still on the 22 GG MC 450. Going to see how contingency money is by years end and debate rebuild the 22 or jump into a 24 or 25. Could you feel the on track lightness that everyone says the 350 has VS. A 450?

Thank you! Yeah, the track has lots of elevation changes which I really enjoy. Gotta get back this way sometime!

Great insights and comparisons to 450. I’ve owned a 350 and now on a Beta 390. I’ve been saying for a while I’d love to see a YZ 385 F and FX! Next bike will most likely be a 24 YZ 450 de-tuned.

Thank you! You can’t go wrong with the yz450 👍

Great video and info. Been riding a 250xc at the local track and in the woods. I do love that bike. But thinking of getting a dedicated MX bike. 5’11” 200lbs, 56yo. Is that a public track? And where is it? Looks fun and mellow.

Great video and analysis. I have watched a few videos where they talk about wanting a little more low end grunt and willing to give away some of the top end. I haven't seen anyone who adjusted sprocket ratios - do you think that might work? I'm vet 6'3 and 165 lbs so thinking a 450 might be to much to throw around even detuned? Riding a yz250f at the moment - east coast guy. I guess that I'm not the only one who yells at themselves while riding lol.

Thanks, much appreciated. Great question! I found the stock gearing was good for pulling out of corners without loss of power, yet gave each gear long enough where you're not having to shift every second. I did go up one tooth on the rear but it spooled up too quick and required even more shifting. The challenge with these 350's IMO is that you still need to ride them higher up in the RPM's vs. a 450, which tends to tire me out faster and just requires a more aggressive riding style. Yes, the new ones make a bit more low end (like my 24) but get in soft sand or any type of mud and it'a very similar to a 250F. If you're use to your 250F this could be a great upgrade giving you a bit more yet still manageable. For me, I really liked the ability shift a little less on the 450 and having that low end torque helps in the soft stuff. When the tracks are good and dry it's great. I think the new 450's with the maps, tuneability, etc. really gives a good option to tone the power down. I prefer the YZ450F but I have spent considerable time on a Rockstar Husky 450 and loved that bike. It was everything I thought my 350 would have been. Are you in New England?

@@moto-x Thanks for your reply! We ride and race in Atlantic Canada with New Brunswick (Just north of Maine). I'm returning to the sport after many years off and started on the yz 250f 2017 but looking down the road at what I want next. Oddly, I find the 250f very torquey and snappy in the corners almost too much so for what I was used too - first 4 stroke. I would be willing to give up some of that snappiness in the corners for less engine breaking and more rolling speed and longer gears. 2 stroke is a bit much for me at this point in life though. I find the yamaha burns through the gears quite quickly too. It's a great bike but just trying to figure out my next one lol.

Debating this 350 or 300 (or husqvarna version). Coming from trail riding a 450 race bike which is what I was given. Haven’t ridden in 8 years. 300 sounds pretty fun. Mx track, trail riding woods and hopefully some hare scrambles. Thoughts on which to go for? Got a family, just getting out and riding for fun. Nothing serious.

The 350 is a great all around bike. I think a 2-stroke is a more versatile bike though. That being said, the new TBIs would not be my first choice. There are some things they need to sort out IMO. I also like the simplicity of the carb bikes, no electronics to fail and very reliable. I ended up buying a 23 gasgas carb 250 two stroke and put the 300 kit on it. For the type of riding you want to do I think either a 350 or a carb two stroke would be excellent. 350 will still be a little less nimble in the woods and it still has engine braking. I’d probably lean towards a two stroke a little more. Let me know what you decide.

@@moto-x thanks, I think I’m leaning two stroke. 450r was probably not ideal set up for me at the time but the idea of less/no engine breaking and being lighter sounds desirable. Does gas gas make a 300? Any other brand I should consider? Also wondering if tbi will be fixed in 2025..

@@moto-x also, you’d go 300 over 450 for scrambles and woods? Or are you thinking 450 for all? Great video btw. Thanks

I’m having this very debate internally lol. 2023+ 350SXF or 2023 YZ450F and dial in via the tuner app?

    • @moto-x
      @moto-x  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I will have a video on this as well, but for me the de-tuned 450 is better, more versatile, my lap times are actually better which shocked me, and I feel the suspension isn't as bound up because I don't need to ride the upper rpm range. Now everyone is different. How much riding do you do per week / month?

Love your videos man, you seem very knowledgeable and enjoy watching your videos. I am moving to Florida and am having trouble deciding my next bike…I would say i’m a pretty aggressive rider maybe in between beginner and amateur. My last bike was a 250 2 stroke and was a fun bike but I feel i would enjoy a 4 stroke again since they have such a nice planted feel and would inspire confidence. i can’t decide between the 250f, 350 SXF, or YZ450. I’ve been discouraged to get a 450 because everyone says they have too much power for the average rider…but I’ve rode a buddy’s and really felt comfortable, I mean cpowerso much torque and fun to ride, the thing is everyone talks about them like they are way too powerful…but is that really the case when it’s 2024 and you have different mapping and the tuning app? That’s why I feel the KTM 350 SXF would be a good sweet spot if not a 450. I also am thinking about the 2024 250f but am just not sure if it will be as exciting and responsive as what I would like coming off of a 250 2 stroke. sorry i’m all over the place lol but any insight you may have for me i’d really appreciate it! 🤙🤙

@@piercetiralongo thanks, much appreciated. Previously I would have said get a 350 without a doubt, now I think you have choices and need to think carefully. Some 450s are too much, but when they can be tamed down via tuner or map, they can be just as easy to ride as a 350 with a little added grunt. For me I’ll take the tuned sown yz450. How tall are you and how much do you weigh? I think you can go just as good on a 350, I just felt like I had to work harder and had to run it up much higher in the rpm range. I also wanted more low end, especially in mud/sand. I will say my yz450 is phenomenal and I’m happy I made the switch back to the 450. Let me know if you have any questions. When you’re forking over 10-12k for a bike you want to make the right choice.

@@moto-x Do you think the YZ 450 would be a good decision for me considering the power it has? is the power manageable via Tuning app? I weigh 180. I like hard hitting bottom end/ mid range too considering my riding style. Appreciate your insight!

Its a great bike will do GNCC MOTO the reasons why you like the 450 more is because your a lazy rider just wants to sit on it & not change gear
The 350 has as much horse power as the HONDA, SUZUKI 450 it's easier to ride harder for longer
You should of spent your money on a riding Techniques
Lesson and GAS, RATHER THAN SAY THE BIKE IS NOT VERY GOOD

@@matthewtoes6433 lol. That is your opinion, I have mine. I wouldn’t say I’m a lazy rider, I race two strokes all the time and the 350 requires you to shift almost as much as a two stroke. It also lacks torque of a 450. 350 is a great bike for the right rider, but many will benefit from the simple torque of a 450. Riding technique applies to all bikes, if you have poor technique on a 450 you’ll have it on a 350 lol.
