    This is so simple, and sensible. My singing teacher said to imagine the notes as pegs on a washing line, rather than high or low. This is an excellent embodiment of that advice. Thank you.

    Hmmm, I was always told as a child that I was tone deaf and couldn’t sing, so I haven’t tried since. I’ll give your exercise a try.

    Thank you so much for this video. I am a bassoonist teaching aural training. I have a student who was struggling with matching pitch. It turns out she never sang as a child. I watched this video and tried this with her and it worked! I am so amazed!! A million thanks 🙏🏻 and I am now subscribed.

    Really cool, I tried the solfeggio pattern and it sounded good. Too afraid to check with a tuner though.

      That’s wonderful! It’s a good start to approximate the pitch.

    Some people at the karaoke may realize I am your student, when I start pointing at them. :-)

    i have played the guitar for over fifty years and have done over 1000 gigs But I can't sing. (Probably because of lack of confidence) I now want to sing what should I do?

    My son loves to sing. But when he was a child his little brother told him to stop singing. And now he can't carry a tune. I would like for him to be able to sing with me. I'll be talking to him about some of these things he missed by never singing in choirs.

      Wonderful! Know that he can learn to sing in tune with a little practice. Just matching one note at a time on the piano a day can help. The idea is that it's OK if he isn't accurate at first.

    Would an instrument tuner be helpful down the line? Especially for people who may not have a good sense of pitch?

    • @Ronnisoprano
      @Ronnisoprano  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes! I use a Snark, which clips onto an acoustic guitar. Great for immediate feedback after a student starts to get the feel for matching pitch.

    I used to sing really good but someone made fun of me and I did not sing a note for 40+ years. Now I want to sing and yeah flat I am. This exercise looks interesting but what if your ooooo notes are all off?

      Hi Satori. Did you try this exercise for ear training? the beauty of it is that you aren't matching anyone else's pitch. you are training your ear to find the same place and pitch you, yourself, had sung a moment before.
