- With thoughts of extending the Borders railway to Hawick. Here is a look at what might be involved in the next few of miles out of Hawick to the Courthill to Hassendean. Filmed at the end of 2014.
Very interesting. Only time will tell if the line is extending and hopefully all the way to CAR.
Interesting video thanks for uploading. After 40 odd years of non use the surviving trackbed and structures are in remarkably good condition. I don't think that reconstruction of this section at least would present any major problems . Having said that reintroducing the railway to NSB and Melrose would certainly present a few headaches but should still be do-able.
The biggest obstacle must be Melrose because of the road but this can be overcome by re-aligning the track bed north from St Boswells.
There's nothing insurmountable in this section, it looks like an easy section to reinstate.
Yes it a clear run form St Bowells to Hawick. Just a few minor under bridges missing.
Is the line gonna be a heritage railway or a new line for British Railway's railway services?
Logan Brock The Borders Railway will be part of the network rail system when it is completed in September. This video looks at part of what remains of the old line north of Hawick which is the next logical location to extend the new line to. There are no current plans to extend the new line from the terminus at Tweedbank 15 miles to Hawick. Though there has been some recent political support for the idea.
