Two friends take jobs as truck drivers, unaware that the trucking company is being targeted by a gang of saboteurs who will stop at nothing, including murder, to stop them.
You can honor valid concerns about racial stereo-typing, etc., and still love Mantan Moreland as an actor. One of the finest character actors in Hollywood in that era. He was a legitimate star.
He was a good actor. That's it. I'm sick of all the racial blablablah.

You have excelled yourself!!! A terrific story w/Mantan Moreland & Frankie Darro Marcia Mae Jones. Lots of fast snappy dialogue and plenty of tight corners to keep you interested. A perfect way to spend an afternoon!

There's 5 Frankie/Mantan movies all from the early 40s, the hardest to find is "Laughing at Danger" (1940). I wasn't able to find that one neither on the Russian places that don't mind copyright legislation that much. The two actors made a great combo.

Mantan Morland was a fine actor. But sadly, this was the only kind of role that a black actor could get in 1941 Hollywood. Both he and Hattie McDaniel both rose above their roles and gave great performances. Hattie McDaniel well deserved her Oscar for Gone With the Wind.

This was a great movie, exactly what the Academy Awards Committee is looking for in films: ethnic diversity. Pretty cutting edge for 1941. 2 black Americans and 1 Asian American and who ends up being the hero. And race really had nothing to do with any of the characters' backgrounds or actions. As Sherlock Holmes used to say, "Well-played Moriarity!"
