I the spring we cruised HA for the first time. It was also our first TA. We loved it. We found the cruisers to be so friendly, talkative and polite. Loved the bread and fish dishes.
Another great video from another great itinerary. You’re sailing my home and native land…never been to eastern Canada though… my holidays have always been international. At 60, it’s time I change that! Definitely planning to do a Canada/New England in the near future! Giving me lots of inspiration!
I think that I really want to take that cruise but a one-way starting in Boston and ending in Montreal. That way, I can take VIA rail into Windsor, ON and fly back through Detroit. Doing that eliminates the need for an Air Canada flight which almost derailed our Alaskan cruise. Great video.
Such an amazing view from your cabin port hole on deck 1 because you're so close to the water line! Beautiful small ship, doesn't seem crowded anywhere! Another great vlog, Meredith 😁
Thanks, Ben! No crowds at all and it was so cool to be so close to the water line, first time getting to experience that and I would definitely do it again! 😀
Another fun update on your HAL cruise. I think you'll enjoy quaint little towns ahead. Very different than the big cities the last few days. (And who doesn't enjoy a relaxing sea day and a good book?) Carry on!! :)
I think it's cute and funny and appropriate that "Mer" means "sea" in French. You've probably been told that countless times already, but I thought it worth repeating. Google translate tells me that "a sea day" in French is "une journée en mer." This is the third video I've seen from your channel, and I'm enjoying them all.
@@grumpy_older_man thank you so much! I love that - and my full name (Meredith) is Welsh in origin and means “protector of the sea” which I also think couldn’t be more fitting! 😄
What a beautiful sunset, it's just spectacular. I can see myself enjoying the crow's nest as well. Also, that Halibut Sandwich looked delicious. Can't wait to see what the Orange Party has in store for you. Happy cruising
I love the Crows Nest to do puzzles and read. Today I booked Quebec City to Boston on HAL for next May. It will be my first solo cruise. Could you address sometime how it feels to eat solo in the dining room? That’s my biggest worry.
I always bring a book (usually my Kindle) with me to dinner so I'm not just staring aimlessly around me while I eat 😆 but I don't find dining solo to be uncomfortable or awkward at all! I focus on enjoying my meal, my book, and occasional chat with my server - years ago I used to think people were staring at me, but I no longer notice or it doesn't happen as often as I used to think it did. Just enjoy yourself! ☺
@@MerCruisesSolo When using the Main Dining Room (anytime dining) you will be asked if you would like to share. Don't be afraid to say yes, as those you will be seated with also made that choice. A low pressure way to met others.
not to be tacky and correct you but you already left Quebec and now you are cruises the gulf of St Lawrence.. I have been on this cruise4 times with HAL Love the smaller ships..
Thanks Meredith for another nice video on the Volendam. Is the brunch only on sea day? On our 10 day Montreal to Boston trip at the end of this month we have only 1 sea day.
@@norberteng9496 I only saw it on the schedule on the sea day! But I didn’t look too closely on some of the other port days. They may offer it if you arrive later to port. Thanks for watching!
Sorry….first day out of Montreal as you show circled, and you are on the port side from the direction shown….you would see the river bank all day…and one of the most beautiful parts of it. The ship position you show is NOT where you’d be the first day…..way too far out in the gulf. Sorry…you’ve lost credibility with me on this one!
@@pennyhebert5436 sorry to say you are wrong! That screenshot was taken at 11:15am on our 3rd day (sea day) and we had just come from Quebec City… Montreal was 2 days prior. So yes, it is accurate.
@@MerCruisesSolo my point though is the day you circled on the itinerary - the one you were talking about - wasn’t that day that the screenshot showed.
In the video, I believe you circled the wrong day. On the 1st day (June 29), you are slowly going downstream on the Saint-Lawrence River. The river is narrow enough to see both shores. On the 3rd day (July 1), you are in the Gulf of the Saint-Lawrence River, as you have shown on a map. At that point you are basically at sea. Cold water, cold breeze (guaranteed) and stormy at times. I enjoyed your first video. That is why I come to watch this one. I hope you have enjoyed Quebec City, my hometown, and Montreal, where I grew up.
