    Great video!
    I ticked off the stations on that line as part of a trip to Homebase in Felixstowe as it was the nearest branch with a certain kind of coat hook!!
    Those ‘Fragile roof: no admittance’ signs are merely telling you not to climb on the roof! I’ve seen quite a few of them in recent months.
    Derby Road: I thought it odd that the footbridge was left in place and unused.
    Trimley: Yeah, the ‘thin’ level crossing sign also exists at Canterbury West, where there isn’t enough width for a normal one.
    Look forward to your next video.

    Excellent video as usual, nice Catches of those freight trains 😊👍

    Across the level crossing there is a bit of footpath that gives you a nearly floor level sight of trains going through.

    Brilliant video Sarah. Shame about the cancellation at Trimley but great to see that the onwards travel information did really help.

    Great video as always and your dedication to your art is above and beyond considering how cold it was and was pleased you made it to Felixstowe to conclude your video❤

    Well done Sarah for braving the cold, at least it wasn't windy this time.
    Happy Xmas!

    Thank you so much for braving the cold 🥶to bring us this video. It’s lovely to see that these (relatively) small,rural stations have retained a little character and individuality while becoming reasonably modern and well equipped. I do rather like those wooden benches. Also, FREIGHT 🥳

    27:45 Follow that bus! No I'm kidding haha
    But a line that I have had my eyes on for a very long time is the Felixstowe branch because the passenger traffic isn't what is going to make up the video, it is going to be the freight traffic in and out of Felixstowe and it's many yards

    @ReubenAshwell ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Brilliant video Sarah, it does look very cold in this one. I quite like the fact theres info for day rangers and all that at Trimley, shame about the cancellation meaning you had to get the bus to Felixstowe though but it's a really good thing theres onward travel posters at stations letting you know about the alternative options. :)

    Love this line, so much freight. And Trimley is lovely, just wish they would invest in the old building.

    When you was at Derby Road station, did you notice the lovely new green pedestrian bridge, that's been closed, since it was completed.
    Keep the videos coming, great content.

    I really like those Class 755 Greater Anglia trains! I haven't been to Suffolk or Essex for a very long time when there were Class 90 loco hauled on the main.
    Absolutely fascinating about the Polish Armed trains - that's an amazing fact!
    Really enjoyed this - I must try and catch up with some of your other videos.
    I wish your lovely channel every success!
    Take care,
    Paul

    I think that line could do with being double track and electrified for freight going to the Freightliner terminals

    • @foxstrangler
      @foxstrangler 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Chinese port owners are too tight to pay for dualling. It was planned to be dual from Trimley To Derby Road, but it was cut back to a mile and a quarter at a cost of £63m. The work was spun out almost as long as the Elizabeth Line. There is cabling in place to electrify the line, but the climb from Central and North FLT terminals is 1 in 70 with double reverse curves. No way will electrics cope with that. Then catenary and gantry cranes don't mix. The Friends of Trimley Station have been trying to raise £250K to re roof the building before doing other work. It's the last remaining rural GE station in existence. It's also my local station.
      Sarah, what do you mean cold? When the sea freezes it's getting cold. Welcome to the East Coast!
      Regarding the Ranger tickets, you can't buy them from the machine. Even the conductors say there is little call for them. They used to include, Harwich, Walton and Clacton, but they were removed years ago.

    There was another armoured train in Kent on the 15 INCH Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway patrolling the east kent coast. It even claimed a "kill", as a German fighter crashed trying to shoot up the train!

    The sign on the shelter means 'no climbing on the roof'.

    • @fetchstixRHD
      @fetchstixRHD 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm guessing that they're really intended for doors/gates that would give access to a roof, rather than for buildings/structures which happen to have a fragile roof, and that they just made use of those signs rather than modifying them/getting appropriate ones because it's "too much effort"...

    Thanks for the video! Did you do a tour of Felixstowe station? Original platform is split in two and divided by the Homebase/Co-op car park (with the Co-op and other small shops in the old station building).

    I do like the Greater Anglia Class 745 and Class 755 and I have been on them lots of times. As well the Class 720. Shame about Trimley railway building that does need repairs.
    Unless it has already been repaired or rebuilt. I personally haven’t been to Derby Road and Trimley stations but I have been to Felixstowe once.

    What was the reason for the "purchase" of the class 755 vs other trains running on the network?

    • @fetchstixRHD
      @fetchstixRHD 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Their electro-diesel capability was pretty much the "main" reason as to their purchase, if I recall - allows them to use the 25kV where it's available, and their diesel engines where it isn't. The 745 order was to make up the order size, or so the story goes, but the level boarding side effect is quite appreciated, it seems!

      Not much else LOL. But the Trimleys (there are technically two) do have the interesting sight of their two churches standing side by side: St Mary's and St Martin's.

      @@frankhooper7871 Built by two sisters - one each, with the pub opposite. Used to be Trimley St John's as well, but the hamlet is long gone.

    The original Felizstowe station is now a shopping.xentre with the external architecture preserved including canopies.
    The current Felixstowe station is simply a few yards further down on
    Both well worth a visit.
