I have been "there"... Right in that moment... Crying out before the Lord... In the deepest darkest moments... Do You see me?, don't turn away from me... do not hide your face from me💔...😭😭😭 holding a dying 3 yr old, losing a job I worked my whole life for and burying my mother... And so many other dark painful moments...yet HE showed up

My second favorite scene in the entire series thus far. Most favorite is when Jesus says "I saw you under the fig tree" and when Nathanial recognizes WHO Jesus is and Jesus says "There it is." That recognition MUST come as an experience, not merely a mental belief. That scene says it all!

I wrote a song about this scene
    Pray like you know
    that he hears you
    Love like each soul
    depends on you
    Read His word
like he is washing your mind
Forgive like your own mercy relies
    And walk in His Light
    Chorus...
    Walk in His light
    Leave the darkness behind
    Forgiveness you'll find
    There's nothing to hide
    From His all seeing eye
so let us walk faithful in
    His truth and His light.

"Incline your ear to me"..."do not hide your face from me in my hour of need".
Even in despair, Nathaniel knew he needed to cry out to the Lord. How many times have I failed to humble myself to do the same? Still early in my walk and learning not to turn away in silent rage.

I literally just finished my morning prayers and Bible study about 30 minutes ago. I caught myself angry with God and asking why he has not been speaking to me. I was saved in February of this year. And up until the last couple of months, I felt God’s presence non stop. I felt I talked with God anytime I wanted to.
But these last couple of months have been really hard on my family. Financially, about as bad as it can get. It’s been a terrible strain on our mental health and now hurting our marriage. I was still grateful however, because we had our health. However, my wife is now having some health issues.
During my prayer today, I got almost angry with God. Wanting to know why he stopped letting me hear his voice. And why he is seemingly ignoring me when everything around me is collapsing.
I am new to the Bible and been studying only a few months. I had never heard this story. I’ve probably read it but didn’t really put it together.
I didn’t search for this clip yet when I pulled up YT today, it was the first one on my recommendations. Praise God.

  • @meganjenkins1494
    @meganjenkins1494 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

This scene really hits home for me. I’d given up a lot of things to God in a similar manner (not literally burning my pages…but deleting work and declining grad school). That feeling of failure when the things you’d worked so hard for for years of your life just…poof. When it all just becomes ash, nothing fruitful coming from the work and planning. It’s hard to have faith after that kind of humbleness and frankly humility of not having something you’ve worked hard come to nothing in the eyes of all your family, friends, and peers. It’s defeating.
That uncertainty of where to go from there and not hearing from God or feeling that sense of His presence. That uncertainty of what the future holds and/or how things could get better. It’s hard to see hope when you’re sitting in scattered ashes and shards of dreams that got burned and shattered.
Not saying it won’t get better, because God can do anything, but am acknowledging the sacrifices that get made along the way are painful.
(I’m still sitting in that state over a year later…) but God is good and Jesus is king nonetheless.

@ Megan Jenkins.... it's almost as if you've written the exact words that were on my heart. Past two years here...still here... in the midst of all this despair, I've felt so disconnected by Him, YET STILL SOMEHOW held. I know HE is STILL God
..I know I needed things broken in me, desperately needed to be broken, I acknowledge and accept those lessons...It worked..Everything was taken from me...
--but I can't help but feel as if someone forgot to update the white board in Heaven...like uh ....
"guys...guys, hey.....hello, did you forget to take my name of the ~ALLOW SATAN A CRACK AT THEM IN ORDER TO TEST THEM~ list something?"

This scene reminds me of the poem.
"One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

Every step of the way I’ve had encouragement (such as this) come to me in the toughest moments with my anxiety and thought control spiraling out of control. Whether it’s been people/friends from my young adults group reaching out to me, unusually relevant prayer posts on Instagram, and now this, I’ve been encouraged to keep fighting. Thank you Lord Jesus, and thank you, the members of The Chosen, for the encouragement.

This was one of my favorite scenes in the series so far. I also had one of those moments, and it’s the one I now look back on years later as the moment that changed everything for me in my relationship with God. It was the first time I ever really felt seen or loved by the God I had always believed in, and like Nathanael, it didn’t take me long to realize the truth.

However, You have chosen to call us Your own. I love the whole series, and no one is ever ignored by God. So well done. Thank you for message

Reminds me of Elijah in his darkest moment, when he prays for death after being on the run and pursued by enemies for years. He became suicidal, wilting under the intense pressure he felt. And Elijah was described in ancient Jewish literature as, "A prophet like fire, whose word burned like a torch." If men far better than me can experience dark moments and come through, I have nothing to complain about. It reminds me of Hebrews where we're told that God disciplines his sons. If he doesn't, then what kind of father is he? God will bring us to heel, one way or another. I take comfort in that.

I see this and relive several of my prayers to The Lord for decades of no change and suffering but I will always praise His name even if my pain and suffering won't stop, even if my attempts to use my gifts to God's disposition and help others never worked out as I planned. God's way is wise and good. I will forever have m hand held up to Him I shall not give in.

I hear you preaching to yourself... I do the same thing. Sometimes that's all we can do when life seems hopeless. It's like we have to choose to remember how good God has been to us in the past, and trust that He is still the same good God even in our difficulties and trials. It brings to my mind Psalm 77.
