New viewer from the UK! My old man has a Harley now after 30 odd years of being bikeless since i was born and he's loving life running around every weekend! Enjoying the content man! Ride on!
For the IGN on no-lights and then IGN on with-lights. The change happened in the early eighties and was a federal law for manufacturers. Not sure on the FLT's but on my 86 Sportster 1100 (evo) all Harley did was put a jumper on the key switch from the IGN terminal to the Lights terminal and left the Lights wire on the Lights terminal. On the switch, the IGN is on in two positions, and the LIGHTS terminal is only on in one. So by jumping it, power is provided to lights in both positions. On the Sporty, since having the lights-on for a narrower bike is a good thing (and EVO 1100's are the light ((Lightest stock EVO's made)) and very torquey) what I did was move the Lights wire directly to the IGN terminal and then, that gave me a "Accessories" terminal so that if I wanted, I could add heated grips or a wire for a heated clothing (gloves/vest).. On my '78 Shovel FLH, I have aftermarket LED headlight with halo ring. I did exactly what you are planning. I did it more so that if I forget to turn to "Lights" people can still see me. Eastern PA is not as bad as NYC, but we are not far behind. Also, on the 78 FLH, the Acc position powered the oil pressure light but not the Neutral light, so I swapped the leads on the switch so the I have a neutral light in Acc position, since I know eng is off and don't need Oil Press light in that position.
@@tmack1 thank you! I hope it’s that simple on this bike, awesome to know what I want to do will work (maybe) and that something as simple as a jumper, or removing a jumper, is the solution! Thank you for the insight! 👍🏻
