      That's exactly what it was, and it was interesting to see. If Japan saw these news reals, it would be easier for them to make a decision before the attack. I think maybe that was what they were trying to get at, I think. Doubtful but, I'm glad I got to see the whole line of BS anyway.

    The Japanese sequence starting at 30:22 is lifted en masses from the postwar series "Victor at Sea". That particular film cut has appeared many times in various accounts of Japanese duplicity.

    Yhe crazy part is that the attack at pearl harbor was part of a major offensive across the whole pacific, the Japanese would end up taking major military installations all throughout the Pacific from the Dutch, French, British and Americans, invaded Vietnam, Cambodia, Burma, Sri Lanka, etc. All within the same days as the attack on pearl harbor.

      In a few days? Did Japan have that kind of sealift capacity? Over a period of months for places near Japan? Absolutely.
      I doubt that Japan would have made it to Sri Lanka or India. The Indians bitterly resented British imperialism, and many still resent it. I doubt that they wanted to be Japan's junior partner any more than they wanted to be the UK's partner.

      @@54032Zepol There is a very cool book called "The Imperial Cruise:A secret history of Empire and War".
      The long and short? Japan learned their nasty habits from the US and others. We encouraged them to abuse Korea and later Japan.
      Why? Someone had to "keep the Asians in line".
      The Japanese Imperial Navy was trained by the British. They were a handful!!!!

    Japan attacked Pearl Harbor because the Japanese Army and Navy were the ruling bodies in Japan, not the Government and that's what militaristic Countries do. The Japanese Army had previously attacked China without the knowledge of consent of the Government.

    It's interesting to see such a compilation of news reel versions of what our own version of propaganda was accentually from back then. I would hope our younger viewers realize that we didn't even have TV back then, this would have been shown in movie theaters or you would have heard an audio of them over the radio. Only larger cities would have had the movie theaters, most rural Americans would have heard them on a radio, and that was a larger portion of the Country then you realize.

      The office that I worked in has one of the enigmas in our museum. So I didn't learn any of this on TV. I think there are only 2 of them left in the world. Believe it or not, MIDWAY is a pretty good movie about how our codebreakers figured out what Japan's next moves were.

      Japan attacked Pearl Harbour because the Allied blockade of the Island nation left them little or no option as they saw it. The American led blockade was engineered to force Japan into military action or lose face giving in to negotiations that would have left them at the tender mercies of the US trade deals. The Americans made it easier for them by moving the Pacific Fleet to Pearl Harbour. It might as well have been a False Flag operation to get the American public behind the war effort that would eventually make the USA the power in the new world. It worked beautifully.

    21:43 Renown did not fight Bismarck with Rodney; King George V did. While the Bismarck was loose, the Brits were getting their butts kicked off of Crete and beaten up by Rommel in Africa. Sinking the Bismarck played better in the British and American presses and newsreels.

    Bcs we had their fuel. And if Japan ran out, they would have to pay and go thru us to get fuel. Also, most all of our military assets were docked at Hawaii to try and hide them. But that didn't work.

    • @johncox2865
      @johncox2865 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your assertion that we were somehow trying to ‘hide’ the American fleet at Pearl Harbor is both uninformed and absurd.
      How could you hide a gigantic fleet on the largest military base in the Pacific?
      Hawaii was rife with Japanese spies and everybody, from Roosevelt on down, knew it. You can’t lock up an entire population for the sake of security.
      We weren’t hiding anything from anybody.
      The simple fact is that nobody anticipated such an audacious attack on a superior foe.
      Give credit where credit is due. Yamamoto was damned good at his trade.

    • @lauriewagner6804
      @lauriewagner6804 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We finally used codebreakers to figure out what they were saying on their enigmas where and when they were going to attack afterward, such a MIDWAY. So yes, Japan and Germany were using enigmas to find our ships. It's not that that they were too big to hide, it was that they were too far away to find. So by using enigmas they found our ships.

    • @commoncents7330
      @commoncents7330 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Docked at Pearl Harbor to try and hide them? It was our main naval port that was able to service large ships such as Battleships and Carriers in the Pacific Ocean, and a middle point between Midway, Guam, and various other south Pacific island bases. So I no way whatsoever were we trying to hide anything. As the Japanese knew there was nowhere else we could service our Pacific fleet. Also, you say because we had "their" fuel, but I ask you what makes it theirs? After they brutally attacked the Chinese, among other nations, we had an embargo against them. They caused their fuel shortages by being aggressive and had only 6 months of fuel storages till they ran out so had no choice but to attack us unprovoked in an attempt to destroy our ability to project power and defend the oil-rich territory in the south Pacific. However, they missed our carrier fleets by pure luck and thank God they did because that's what saved us till we could outproduce them. So no, just no to everything you said.

    • @Adiscretefirm
      @Adiscretefirm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They miscalculated, they assumed if they took the Dutch East Indies for their oil our forces in the Philippines would be used to cut the supply lines. The US had not entered the war in Europe after several allies had been invaded, there is little to no chance we would have gone to war for a Dutch colony if we didn't go to war for the Netherlands.

    • @patrickforest8981
      @patrickforest8981 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Adiscretefirm Maybe, but Japan saw the US as a rival, and some estimated that their only chance to beat the American was at that point since the American were rapidly increasing their navy.
