My Pyr is super chill except for nail clipping time. Never have gotten the quick either. fortunately he keeps them trimmed when we walk, only have to get the hind dew claws

Great video Paige! Very informative. We need to get better about clipping our Great Pyrenees nails more often.

Love it, Scar is so difficult with clipping because of trauma when she was a puppy, I have to give her peanut butter while I do it or I’ll have the Vet do it when we go every now and then. I think we have the same clippers. Rewarding is the most important part ♥️

Thanks for making this very informative video.
I have a question. At what age did Mellow stop growing and gaining weight? Our Pyr just turned one year’s old and I have found conflicting answers. Some say by age two and others by age three.

For height mellow stopped growing at around 2, as far as weight he still put on a little bit of weight till 3 because he was filling out.

Ever think of becoming a veterinarian in the future? You would be excellent.

Originally I was going to become a veterinarian but I have decided to become a paramedic instead.

    NAIL CLIPPING IS ABSOLUTELY UNNECESSARY.
A 30-MINUTE WALK (FREE RUNNING, NO LEADS, AND NOTHING ELSE).
Your DOG WILL BE HEALTHIER, MORE RELAXED, MORE SATISFIED...
YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL AND GOOD DOG.

My great pyrenees dew claw nail is super long. Over an inch and it seems irritated. What do I do? She is licking it.

@@scoutdixie4412 If it's the front legs, it's a question for the vet to treat the area around the swelling with a disinfectant, and if he thinks it's necessary, he can also surgically remove the fifth toe. I've heard that this is a relatively common problem with Great Pyrenees. If it's the back legs (I had this problem with my dog a long time ago), the surgeon removed the toe, without my dog even knowing that he was removing it (under local anesthesia), since he didn't see what the vet was doing... For the front legs, I'm not sure if they always remove the toe (I don't believe that's the case), but on the back legs it's a common problem, the toe is completely unnecessary and vets routinely finish it in a few minutes, all together, local anesthesia, cut and sew. After a few days, the bandage and stitches are removed.
