Just tried this style and loved it! Instead of being stuck in the house or under a dryer all weekend, I was able to go to church, on a date, etc, all while my hair was drying and curling!!!!! And, once I took the pipe cleaners out, my curls were gorgeous. I was worried that the wire from the pipe cleaners might snag or get stuck in my locks, but it wasn't a problem. Thanks for the great directions!
when i started to research for my locs tbey82,think nappy thoughts, and u was my inspiration u all r the best with suggestions and answers which is always on point its 26 ,months for me being locked and i still enjoy watching u all. thank u all for being faithful you tubers
This one was really helpful to me... I was thinking about cutting my locs off, until I ran into this video... God, my husband, and you saved my locs... Thank you for being here...
You made perfect sense....I honestly didn't keep track of time... I did it while watching tv but I would have to say it didn't seem any longer than when I roll my locs the other way....
love the style and technique. who would've thought an arts and craft tool could come in handy for sisterlocks. i'm going on 14 months for my mines and I will have to try this. still new to the whole styling procedure for myself. doing my best now to master curling with the rods I've done for the lst time myself
Very informative video. A nice new take on pipe cleaner curls. I love how seemingly endless the possibilities are with this super cheap item. Keep the videos coming:-)
This is very cute. Although my locs are shorter than yours, I am definitely going to try this. I hope i can bend and pin them up just as cute as you did! Thank you!!!!
Wow, I like it! My hair is natural, 5yrs, but only for a few more hours. I'm finding all these cool styles after deciding I need to relax my hair again. I did everything but locs, though locking seems to make the hair grow much faster. Mine would definitely be down my back by now. I just cannot spend the days required to maintain 2 strand twist. I've grown weary of the long hours/days of managing my hair, the shrinkage & long hours of managing my hair (repeated on purpose). I want to try this.
Well............ I DID THE STYLE!!! AND IT CAME OUT SO CUTE! THE FUNNY THING IS, IS THAT EVERYONE THOUGHT I CUT MY LOCS!! LOL! THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VID!! ;-D,
The style is beautiful and very afro-centric. I've never ventured out without a scarf with pc's in but will try this method it also looks like you will get a more consistant coil this way.
Awesome!! I have tried pipe cleaners twice and the curls were all tight. I now know its because of the technique I used (wrappng the locs from the bottom up like I am using a perm rod). This is extremely helpful.
I tried this 3 times and they came out great!!! Someone did them for me at first. I actually did the last set for my daughter's wedding and guests stopped me several times to find out what I did to my hair and to compliment.
I had an Epic Fail with pipe cleaners today. Out of all of the You Tube Pipe Cleaner Curl Videos, Yours was the easiest to do!!!!.Love that look on you..I wish I would have saw this yesterday... If u wanna laugh watch my pipe cleaner Video... Be blessed!!
You are very welcome... After I got all the inquiries while trying to explain it to people at the NNHMD event on Saturday I knew I needed to do a video to explain it more clearly :)
This is tooo cute girl! Now that I'm locing I will def try this. Btw, I remember you from Fotki days, lol. My name was Natitwists. Still looking good and inspiring people I see. :)
I'm a month into my loc journey. We started with 2 strand twists. I love updos, so I will be experimenting & will definitely watch the loc petal video.
Wonderful!! Please post a video response if you try it. I would love to see what other spins people will put on this style since you can be very creative with this look....
While I did achieve this style on dry hair I recommend that you at least spritz or dampen your locs before doing this style.. Please let me know how it works out for you
After you wrap all you rlocs around the pipecleaners you just bend the pipecleaners into a pincurl shape... There is really no exact way to do it... you just decide how you want to bend them and do it... Hope that helps...
Ooh, thanks for this tut [and thanks to tbey82, also]. I've got lock knots in at the mo, but I'll definitely try this in the near future. I like the idea of bending the locks this way or that for alternative results. :0D Such a cute look!
Thanks... I hope this works out for you... Please let me know... I really like this style and while my locs are not as long as yours I do hope they will be one day so it will be nice to know that I can continue to do this style even when they are longer....
Please do!!! I got some new ones so I can fold them properly. I've colored my hair and my roots are not dark anymore so the way I was doing it the pipe cleaner really shows but yours does not seem to show at the roots.
I hope this works out for you... A lot of sisterlock wearers have tried pipecleaners to curl their hair...just search here on YT..Best of luck and happy styling :)
I agree... with such a cheap and easily accessible item you can do so much.... Hope we the craft industry doesn't get wind of all these great uses for pipecleaners and drive up the price :) Thanks for watching!
+Eve Alex Not sure what you mean? I know people with much longer locs who also have created a similar style... You would need a longer pipecleaner of course.
Yes... definitely thank tbey for helping me to better understand or I might not have come up with the final style :) I have yet to master locs knots so for now this will have to suffice... Please let me know how it works out for you...
You have to play around with it..I have seen people with locs longer than mine wear this style... My locs are a bit longer now and I can still create a similar look
I was thinking of using wrapped florist wire, which I have rolls of at home. It's a thick gauge, which when I wrap in floral tape would be about the same as pipe cleaners and I could cut it to length.
Great video, I think I'm going to try this. I'm still in the budding stage do you think I will get better results taming my frizz first? I've been trying to avoid re twisting to often.
+Jenuine Lover I think you should tame your frizz at your roots a bit before using the pipecleaners because your hair could get tangled around the pipecleaner.... But that doesn' t mean you have to retwist.. You can just wrap the loose hairs around the base of the loc without doing so tightly... Hope that helps
I know it's been 6 years but I love this

Best pipecleaner tutorial I've seen for short/medium length locs. Thanks for posting!
Omg!!!!! I was just thinking I wanted some kind of new style to do with my locs and BOOM!!!!! Here you go!!!!! Thx a bunch!!! Can't wait to do them.
Thanks... Couldn't have done it if you hadn't explained it so well to me...I am forever grateful
This one was really helpful to me... I was thinking about cutting my locs off, until I ran into this video... God, my husband, and you saved my locs... Thank you for being here...
that style is so cute...great for summer to keep your locs off of your neck. And the curl was amazing, I like the elongated curls.
You made perfect sense....I honestly didn't keep track of time... I did it while watching tv but I would have to say it didn't seem any longer than when I roll my locs the other way....

Thanks for the tip. I'm 2 years natural and researching locs but that a tip I can use with my two strand twists! I cant wait to get to the store :)
I really like this style. I am trying to do new things to prevent getting bored. I am going to try this this week.
Wow, I like it! My hair is natural, 5yrs, but only for a few more hours. I'm finding all these cool styles after deciding I need to relax my hair again. Awwww....that's so sweet of you to say! I am glad to know I have inspired you and congrats on holding steady for 26 months strong :)

Awesome,... I will be doing this after these current curls have no life left ...thx a bunch..
Wow, how cool...can't wait to try this! Thanks for being such a reliable source!
How cool! I've seen people wear their pipe cleaners but didn't know how they applied them.
I will def be trying this. Wonderful idea. This will be a great style for my summer vacation.
love it!! i was trying to find new ways to wear my locs because its getting warm and my locs are mid back. too cute!!
I really like your hair. Thank you so much for this video! I am going to be doing my hair tonight and I am going to try the pipe cleaners.
Awwww... thank you for sharing the video. I so appreciate it and hope others find it helpful
That hairstyle was very creative,i might try that on my locs....thanks for posting! :)
I tried this 3 times and they came out great!!! Someone did them for me at first. I actually did the last set for my daughter's wedding and guests stopped me several times to find out what I did to my hair and to compliment.
That is wonderful! Thank you for letting me know that my tutorial helped you.
where do I get the pipe cleaner?
I got mine from Walmart
+sonia thomas Walmart or any store that sells craft items...I have even found them at the Dollar Tree
Very cute and it looks fairly simple to do..........It's definitely a must to try.
Yay!! So glad you found the video helpful :) Thanks for watching!
Wow!! This is 1 of the smartest ideas i've come across!!
I tried it and found that my hair was a bit too long to create the exact same look soooo I made it into a mohawk! Thanks for the foundation!
Neat!!! You might have actually found a way for me to love pipe cleaner curls!!
Ruby Rage I hope you will try it again... I left a comment on your video.
Looks amazing! I just cut my locs to my shoulders so this looks like a style that I will try. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you..this pipe cleaner explanation had been the most helpful to me..
You are very welcome... After I got all the inquiries while trying to explain it to people at the NNHMD event on Saturday I knew I needed to do a video to explain it more clearly :)
ok thanks, I must try putting them in this way. l loved all the style you did with them in.
Yay!! I am always glad when I can provide some clarity :) You are very welcome....
Hi Love. This is awesome. I shared this video in a loc/natural hair group on facebook. :)
Such a great tutorial! I will definitely try this after I retighten my hair next week :)
This is tooo cute girl! Now that I'm locing I will def try this. Btw, I remember you from Fotki days, lol. My name was Natitwists. Still looking good and inspiring people I see. :)
I tried this and it came out great!
I have not yet started posting video's but soon I will.

This is fabulous!!! Great way to achieve the petal look without the rubber bands.
Paula Johnson Thank you I actually have a tutorial for rubberband free loc petals as well
I'm a month into my loc journey. We started with 2 strand twists. I love updos, so I will be experimenting & will definitely watch the loc petal video.
Paula Johnson Congratulations...I also started with two strand twists...Patience is really they key...Enjoy your journey
Wonderful!! Please post a video response if you try it. I would love to see what other spins people will put on this style since you can be very creative with this look....
Great tutorial, easy and to the point! Thanks a bunch, will definitely try this
Trying this today! I always wash then do the pipes but never do it dry and my hair wasn't long enough for the extra curve but now it is!!!
While I did achieve this style on dry hair I recommend that you at least spritz or dampen your locs before doing this style.. Please let me know how it works out for you
Thanks a lot. I never used pipe cleaners but I definitely am going to do this tomorrow
Awesome, thank you, I'm getting ready to go on vacation and will be in the water so this is perfect and right on time!!!!!
I love how you helped me learn to use pipe cleaners, but can you do a tutorial that shows how you did this style updo??
After you wrap all you rlocs around the pipecleaners you just bend the pipecleaners into a pincurl shape... There is really no exact way to do it... you just decide how you want to bend them and do it... Hope that helps...
OMG I LOVE YOU!!!!! Thank you so so MUCH!!!!! Now I can do this with my hair what a brilliant IDEA!!! Might I add u r beautiful. =)
I will be trying this, of course I tried the other technique and this registers... Thanks!!
I need to try this one day once I have the time and patience
You are welcome... It was easy enough to do... Once you get pipecleaners in you can get as creative as you like :)
So happy that it worked for you!!

Absolutely!! I plan to rock this on a regular basis :)

Loveeeeee it! Makes so much sense now. Endless thanks!
If you try it I would love to see the results... In fact I would love to see a video from you period Miss Lady :) I hope you will try it...
Great Look. Restarted my locs in 2013. This is very easy. But do you use any type of pipecleaner or a special type.
Please do!!! I got some new ones so I can fold them properly. I've colored my hair and my roots are not dark anymore so the way I was doing it the pipe cleaner really shows but yours does not seem to show at the roots.
best pipe cleaner curl tutorial, thanks.
love this going to give this a try.....THANKS for sharing....GOD BLESS...
Awesome sauce! I will be doing this very soon!
Please let me know how it works for you :-)
Hey Lady... It really is very simple... Did you see the pic I posted on my FB page of us?
Thank you. Your video was clear and easy to follow.
You are most welcome... I know you willl put you own spin on this...
OMG I loooooove this. now ive never left in pipecleaners cause it looks embarassing lol thanx so much. ill this next time
Great tutorial
Well hello there :) I do remember you. Welcome to the loc'd side :)
I hope this works out for you... A lot of sisterlock wearers have tried pipecleaners to curl their hair...just search here on YT..Best of luck and happy styling :)
Very cute style andhelpful video. Thank you!
I agree... with such a cheap and easily accessible item you can do so much.... Hope we the craft industry doesn't get wind of all these great uses for pipecleaners and drive up the price :) Thanks for watching!
I'm going to try this! Very simple
Thank you for this brilliant video tutorial ;-)
This has made it much easier to do a pipe cleaner style.
What do I do with long hair though?
+Eve Alex Not sure what you mean? I know people with much longer locs who also have created a similar style... You would need a longer pipecleaner of course.
Eve Alex what's the wrapping method?
Awesome, thanks so much! I'm definitely going to try this.
Yes... definitely thank tbey for helping me to better understand or I might not have come up with the final style :) I have yet to master locs knots so for now this will have to suffice... Please let me know how it works out for you...
I am so glad to know this is helpful for you...
Very helpful, doing mine this evening!
@nnekalocs you would just straighten the end that's hooked around the hair at the scalp and pull them out. Does that make sense?
how did you get them out? guess you had to unravel them instead of just pulling them off the pipe cleaner?
This is very beautiful. I want to try it, but my locs are about six inches past my shoulders. How can I make this work with long dreads??
You have to play around with it..I have seen people with locs longer than mine wear this style... My locs are a bit longer now and I can still create a similar look
I will add that you will probably need to have a longer pipecleaner to accommodate the length of your locs
I was thinking of using wrapped florist wire, which I have rolls of at home. It's a thick gauge, which when I wrap in floral tape would be about the same as pipe cleaners and I could cut it to length.
So cute!!, did this method take longer to do than rolling the loc starting from the bottom? I hope this question makes sense.
Sorry for the delayed response...@KimD is correct...I also talk about it in my video "Pipecleaner Curls...5days post takedown "...
Were do u got the pipe cleaner curls to buy,i do love the curls.
Thanks... It is so easy to do
Great video, I think I'm going to try this.
Thanks. I have recently started using the wrapping method and it does help. But I'll wait on the pipe cleaners.
love love love this video. very nice. thanks for being thorough
