I am using my reflectics to make a solar oven. I didnt get the opportunity to do it this summer, but can't wait to use it for that

I have a DIY cook pouch. Also have a separate piece as a sitpad. In the winter when your at camp you can put it in your shoes like insoles as a barrier from the cold ground to help keep your feet warm.

Does it crinkle a lot when your walk?

@@wanderingcalamity360 Not really but they only got used around camp. Biggest drawback is they take up a lot of room in your shoes. I've since picked up a set of these thermal insole style inserts that are thinner and easy to slip in at camp. I haven't used the insole that much yet to really see how they will be over time.

Bought a roll, yesterday, at Lowes for $16.25 (16"x25') and a roll of foil tape for $3.29 (2"x30'). Have a number of projects planned that'll justify the expense. (1) Insulation for several ice chests. (2) Vehicle windows (3) Pot/food cozies for Grab/Go and Get Home bags. (4) Insulation pad for rear of my car when the seats are folded down.
None will go to waste, as their are uses in the house, car, camper and in the woods!
    Thanks for sharing.

Reflextix can be cut to fit between the fly and tent body of a 4-season tent. You need some kind of spacers to keep the reflectix pressed tightly against the outside of the tent body (but this addition is very easy). You'll be amazed at how warm the inside of the tent will be compared to the outside ambient air temperature. Just your body heat alone will keep stuff from freezing inside the tent that would otherwise freeze without the reflectix heat shield. A small candle also can be used to provide some heat (just be extremely careful to avoid carbon monoxide building up as this can be deadly).

Can I use this as a base inside the tent. And put the air mattress on top?

Good DIY options and good way to reuse the off cuts too. Could put on the bottom under the insole layer of a boot, a trail or camp type, guide/ridge line type marker, improvised slippers in a tent, fan a camp fire, shade(reflect solar energy away) , warm up my face(reflect solar energy towards) , clip it onto the inside of a jacket (block windchill and reflect thermal energy back to me) . Although this stuff isn't breathable , the light/heat reflective and insulated characteristics can be useful.

I lined my tech bag with it and made a slide in gap for handwarmers so it keeps my batteries and gear 'warm' throughout the night.

I’m gonna try it as a pad under my Therm-a-Rest, and try making a solar oven with it. I’m wondering too about trying it as a canopy on hot sunny days. Anyone try any of these yet?

I think velcro tabs are better for the closure

Will relectix withstand temperatures of 350 to 425 ? I am wanting to insulate my Coleman oven. I know the oven is not backpack related but relectix is.

    • @kitty4536

Foil can withstand that temp but the plastic bubble wrap in between can't.
