Well done Neil.... Great video as usual and that Lizzy is a fabulous find and in amongst the iron too..... Loved the out-takes at the end...... ATB to you and yours...... HH...... Ian
Ian Jay Thanks mate.. It was a gamble to use the 6" coil... Wow it paid off.. Trouble is I've been digging a lot of Iron since thinking that's a tiny happy with it lol... Best Wishes Neil :-)
These are nice videos you have making from the ctx. I enjoyed watching them. This year i wanna visit Great Brittain with my ctx and i hope to find some nice things. Great Hystorie in Great Brittain. Keep up the good work. !
Hello Neil, Great Hunt the Macro lens gives a great image. I'm well pleased for you. It must have been cold out in those permissions there's snow on the mountains already but I bet the Hammy warmed you up. All the Best Pete Maher / Penysarn - Anglesey
Peetmarr60 Thanks Pete... I hope your keeping well my friend.... I try my best to show a close up as a lot of channels fail to do this & it is frustrating lol.. It was cold, I remember my neck had a chill.... The hammy was a beauty, I new there was lots of iron there... I only went for the small 6" coil because I'd had a hammy there on a previous dig, wow I'm made up... I want to wish you & your family a Merry Christmas & a Very Happy New Year... Take care... Best Wishes Neil :-)
Excellent results and always good to see a hammy coming up, especialy from pasture. It is so important to use a smaller coil when the area is trashy. You loose depth but greatly increase the chance of getting only one target under the coil. I hunted a park last year with Tommy and concentrated on the trashy areas using a 9" coil while Tommy was driven mad by the constant wailing from a large coil. I got 2 gold rings......Tommy needs reminding of that from time to time, lol GL&HH
Pondguru Outdoors Thanks Richard.. I remember that hunt you had with Tommy in the park... Majority of detectorist only use large coils.. How many silvers/hammy's do they miss when there masked by iron... I'd already found a Lizzy 6d here, & new there was a lot of iron around.. I gambled & it paid off... I'm made up.. The CTX6 is a excellent coil, I was digging coins out @ 9" on RAFMAN's permission in the summer using it... A lot of detectorist won't use a small coil, they can be just as much productive in the right place... I'm so made up to separate a tiny hammy from that big piece of iron... Take care... Best Wishes Neil :-)
Yes more trash = more need for a smaller coil and it really does pay off. A big coil on a busy site can be very frustrating. Often the busy areas may have been turned over or disturbed some other way so depth isn't the main concern. The small coil does lose depth due to the smaller magnetic field but makes up for it in target separation when winkling out the goodies from the trash. GL&HH
Relic Hunting Denmark 🇩🇰 Thanks mate.. The small coil is an excellent bit of kit... Not a lot use the smaller coil... Take care... Best Wishes Neil :-)
Cracking hunt Neil and loads of goodies showing up and then WOW how kool is that little Hammered Coin, looks like a Lizzy Threepence Farthing but could be mistaken, still an awesome find indeed buddy :-D ATB GL & HH LittleJohn Metal Detecting
Little John Metal Detecting Thanks John... Small coils can be just as much productive sometimes... I'm so made up... I think it's a penny?.. Lizzy only displayed dates on her 3 pence's & 6 pence's.. I wonder what size her farthings were?.. I hope your keeping well.... Best Wishes Neil :-)
Sorry Neil my bad it was you talking about the Farthing or something just before that must have made me put in Farthing lol, Lizzy Three Half Pence try that :-)
Hi Neil, Nice vid mate, you done well rooting that hammy out from the trash and iron, not in bad nick either, hope you and the family are well. take care mate GL & HH Tom
Tom Wood Thanks mate... I couldn't believe my eyes... But since that dig, I'm digging tons of iron on purpose lol.. Living in hope there's a hammy with every bit of iron... ha... Best Wishes Neil :-)
some very decent finds Neil, that buckle was ace! spectacular hammered! looks like a Lizzy penny although the two that I've had in the past have been really really tiny like eddy farthings. decent hunt mate
ArcturanMegadonkey Thanks Paul... Majority of detectorist just use big coils. When detecting in the iron, I dread to think how many hammy's they miss.. I bet I've missed loads... I'd already found a Lizzy 6d here, on a previous dig & new there was a lot of iron around this spot, I gambled using the 6" coil & it paid off.. I'm made up... I hope your keeping well.... Best Wishes Neil :-)
I'm a big fan of the 6" too. Minelab says that due to the way the DD works, the size of the coil doesn't really make a difference on depth. So the main difference is differentiating signals in trashy or iron laden spot vs. covering more area.
So Be It... Thanks for watching & commenting... 6” Coil is a great Coil... I’ve done so well in the iron invested areas.. Deepest find with it was the length of the pro-pointer... I’ve recently bought the CoilTek 10 x 5 Coil, just for the bigger footprint... That’s a great Coil too... I’ve always told people it’s a leap of faith going to a small coil... Majority think bigger is better... It’s knowing your field & knowing what Coil is needed... The 6” Coil does mop up hunted out sites... Best Wishes CMNW :-)
Chevyvanman 1976 Thanks for watching & commenting... your local then, I'm in Bangor... I detect on some Sundays, not as much now until we get longer light... Everything is a rush at the moment lol... What detector do you use?... Best Wishes Neil :-)
