Every little helps: please read more below:
For Buddhists, birthdays are opportunities not to receive but to give to others and on his 72nd birthday, Ajahn Brahm has chosen to celebrate by supporting Anukampa's aims! Ajahn is inspired by our success in establishing a small Bhikkhuni Vihara in Oxford that has become a sanctuary for spiritual practice. Guests say they benefit profoundly by serving the Bhikkhuni Sangha and deepening their meditation with guidance from the nuns, within a loving and harmonious community. Now, with women expressing the wish to ordain and an overspill of guests, it is time to make the next step - from terraced house to monastery proper!
Currently we can accommodate two monastics in single rooms, two female guests in a shared room and one male/transgender guest on a futon in the shrine room. With your support as part of a global community, we hope to purchase a property with space to train monastic aspirants, provide appropriate seclusion for the monastics and welcome more guests.
Will you help the Bhikkhuni Sangha flourish in England and spread the liberating teachings of the Buddha? If you are in Perth there will be a fun auction on August 6th and if you live elsewhere or miss that, you can still join in the spirit of generosity by offering a gift for Ajahn's birthday and the Bhikkhuni Sangha at large by donating here any time this month or whenever you can. We do have thousands of supporters world-wide and if we can bring all that support together, great and small, we are on track to achieve our worthy aims!
Thank you for your support and may you be liberated,
Anukampa Volunteers
This teaching is part of the 8-Day Retreat “Breath By Breath To Awakening” given by Ajahn Brahmali in support of Anukampa Bhikkhuni Project. Donations are welcome to support our work at www.anukampaproject.org/donate.
The Buddhist path is almost ridiculously simple: kindness and awareness of the breath. This is enough to take you all the way to Awakening. Why, then, can it seem so hard? During this retreat we will focus on mindfulness of breathing and its supporting conditions. We will look at the obstacles that stop this practice from flowing naturally. And we will consider the qualities of mind that we need to develop to allow the flowering of the mind. You may not be Awakened by the end of this, but you will be much closer than when you started. If you don't want to make spiritual progress, don't come to this retreat!
Anukampa is a UK Charity and pioneering project that is raising funds to develop the first Theravada Bhikkhuni Monastery in the UK, where women can train towards full ordination. Donations of any amount are very gratefully received to help us achieve this noble aim, welcome you as guests and continue to spread the priceless Dhamma teachings. Please visit www.anukampaproject.org/donate for more information.
