Thank you for explaining about holding the drum in this position. I absolutely loved your explanation of looking in the mirror, waving high and then coming down. I’m a new beginner and this really helped with my technique.❤
Whoa, I just applied these techniques to my doumbek playing and a whole new level of sound and timbre was achieved. My left arm is tired now, but it just shows how important repetition in practicing proper technique is important.
"Don't be a rhythm hoarder or a rhythm junkie"...that's totally freeing. I get so bogged down with trying to learn all of the Middle Eastern rhythms that I never get to actually playing. Great advice and wonderful video!!
I admire this style. He raises a lot of great points regarding this method. It does allow for a lot of movement for performance sake. But I think I personally prefer the on the lap - one hand at the top method.

Thank you, just saying
How do you hold the drum? Does it have a hole in the frame that you stick your thumb through? Would have been nice if this was shown in the vid.
There are two types of solution: thumb hole or cutaway at "6 o clock" on the frame.
Don';t be a rhythm junkie! Great advice.
