Oh yeah, it's far too overrated. I did the mistake of visiting it once. When I was on the slopes, I had trouble telling if I was doing a cross country skiing trip or an alpine skiing trip.
Yes! Please don't come to Loveland. It's cold ,windy, and the lodges are small. A-Bay has wet, sloppy bacon bloody marries. Please visit Vail, and Keystone is right up the road.
One of my best skiing memories comes from Loveland. On a not-too-snowy snow day, the clouds were low, and the full mountain was open. Coming off the lift at the top, there was nothing but a sea of cloud below, with only the tallest peaks poking through. Totally removed from the rest of society that's just right at the base. It was such an awesome view that I don't think I'll ever forget.
I grew up skiing at Loveland. As an adult who can go to any I-70 resort i choose, I still prefer Loveland. The terrain is diverse, the views on the divide are awesome, and the local vibe is nice.
The food here is the best. The lifts are slow but gives you time to catch your breath, if you can. I went on a windy-ish day and still had fun. The snow was falling and I didn't go to the top-top but chair 8 was a blast. I liked this resort more than A basin.
I visited in Feb. 2022 as my first Colorado ski trip. Wind chill was -10 and I nearly passed out while driving out of the parking lot due to altitude. I'd still love to come back 😂
I ❤ Loveland! Some of my best memories at resorts were @ A Basin, Loveland and riding Loveland pass. I just love the small shelters with the wood burning stoves. It feels so much more inviting than the big lodges.
Unless you require Vail like ammenities, Loveland is a fantastic place to ski except on windy days. Loveland has the best early season snow on the Front Range. Chair 8 has outstanding terrain when the snow is good.
You should review Keystone this season. They've put in a new above treeline lift and made some other changes that have made the mountain a personal favorite
I just came here last month after the storm - my partner is new to snowboarding and we went to the beginner only side at Loveland Valley on a Saturday. I was surprised at how few people were there. It was a great place for him to learn!
I worked there almost 30 years ago while in college. Love that place, doesn't look like too much has changed really, except the lift between the two lodges. great video, my only gripe...it's not a resort. As you mentioned, there's no lodging or "base village." It's just a good, old run of the mill ski area. Which is all one needs most of the time.
When I first moved to Colorado in 2019 and before I joined the mega-pass train the year after, I got season passes at Loveland. Overall, it’s a decent “working class” ski area, but the ancient lift system is my main gripe. It just doesn’t stand up to the resorts around it based on that.
I got kicked out of high school *twice* because I was always riding Loveland instead of going to class. I will always begrudge them for the way they placed lift 9, though. That area was essentially a big, natural terrain park. The best collection of good side hits, big and small, I've ever experienced on any mountain anywhere. So many epic sessions went down in that zone, and they put lift infrastructure on literally almost every single feature. Straight wrecked it. People were universally gutted by the loss of that terrain. Switched to A-Basin the following season, and eventually to Copper after that, and only rode Loveland 1-2 times ever again.
Totally disagree on the lift placement and infrastructure critiques. Warming huts and restrooms are placed wonderfully for those not wanting to lose a second of their day but need to warm up or pee. I’ve never been wanting for any feature or comfort. The lifts are placed based on prevailing winds so they can run in all but the most extreme weather. This is a feature. Go ahead and see how many above timberline lifts winter park or keystone have rolling on a storm day…compared to Loveland
True! I was there last year during a particularly rough day (super high winds, very low vis) and the only lifts they had running were 2 and (checks notes) 4! Which literally brings you up to the top of the mountain (although not all the way to the top of the ridge line). The place is great! (Also slow lifts are definitely made up for in the lack of lift lines at all times of the day)
I skied Loveland last year for the first time. It's greatest advantage is convenience. While I had a great time on the hill, it felt like I was at Boreal on the top of Donner Summit in that I was spending more time in line and on the lift than I was actually skiing.
I would not recommend Loveland for a destination skier. It serves a very specific purpose for Denver area skiers because it's easy to get to and offers very diverse terrain. It's not a resort but a rather funky, wild and old-school ski area. It's often windy plus there is very little grooming. I say this as a long-time Loveland season pass holder. Also, never take "The Face" down from chair 8 to the tunnel under I-70 to return to the base if you want to preserve your skis/boards.
Ah yes, Loveland(and every other Summit County ski area). Wake up at 4:30 in the morning to get stuck in traffic. Get to Loveland at 8:30 am, Ski for 5 hours. Realize I-70 is closed. You now never want to ski again. Finally, by midnight your back home and by the next weekend you want to do it again. Just go somewhere else that isn't Summit County, 6 hours of your day will be in traffic 😢
Trail ridge is the highest through road. Roads to summits of Pikes peak and Mt Blue Sky are highest. Eisenhower tunnel is the highest on interstate system.
The word Loveland, The first part is Love, the second part is Land, not Lund, Loveland, not Lovelund, and slow down talking, you are unlistenable, if that's a word, Oh by the way, I am not a language professor, I am a retired automatic transmission rebuilder, that's had bad it is
Yes, Loveland totally sucks, please don't go there! (definitely not a local that loves the lack of crowds....)
Oh yeah, it's far too overrated. I did the mistake of visiting it once. When I was on the slopes, I had trouble telling if I was doing a cross country skiing trip or an alpine skiing trip.

Totally. Honestly one of the most 5/10 areas ever.
Shhhhh
i'll make sure not to go ;)
*plans trip to loveland immediately*

This is my spot, love it. Such a chill place, especially during the week.

I love this channel so much. Thank you guys for the spectacular content 🙏
Love the skiing here. Especially the north side. Excellent beginner area, especially because everyone down there is a learner or teaching.
I visited in Feb. 2022 as my first Colorado ski trip. Wind chill was -10 and I nearly passed out while driving out of the parking lot due to altitude. I'd still love to come back 😂
They recommend you spend at least 3 days in Denver before going up.
I ❤ Loveland!
Some of my best memories at resorts were @ A Basin, Loveland and riding Loveland pass.

This season coming up will be my 50th year skiing and a big chunk of it has been spent here. See you in a few short months.
Going for the first time this season. Do you know the best long time groomed runs?
Unless you require Vail like ammenities, Loveland is a fantastic place to ski except on windy days. Loveland has the best early season snow on the Front Range. Chair 8 has outstanding terrain when the snow is good.

Loveland is a hidden gem. But slow lifts aren't ideal.
aight im going

i love loveland one of the best and most fun ski trips with my dad
Loveland is my fav. Minimal lift lines, not packed, fun skiing and terrain types. Best is lift 8 on the north
My season pass cost me $650 (Not on renewal discount) and worth every penny. Comes with free passes to other local mountains. My go to day trip!
Ever since I went to Eldora I've had my eye on Loveland. One day soon, thanks!
We got Nershi from String Cheese Incident jammin' at the Loveland Corn Harvest last saturday!
Denver to Loveland is a lot closer to 1 hour than 2, is the time estimate from the airport?
It could also be 3 hours. There’s a ton of factors involved.
Locate near hwy 6, leave at 6am. You'll be in the half lot by 7:30.
I leave Golden early and almost always make it to the Loveland parking lot in 45 minutes.
I'm in central Aurora, and it takes 1.5 hours, as long as there's no major accidents.
I live in Golden and have skied Loveland over 50 times. As long as I leave early, it has always been a 45-minute drive.

Please do a video on Sun Peaks
Loveland is epic.

Been waiting for this video for a while now! I drove by it on the way back from A-Basin and it looked pretty sick.
By the way, how's Europe?
Thanks! Europe video content coming soon!
Coldest resort but best close resort to Denver
I would not recommend Loveland for a destination skier. It serves a very specific purpose for Denver area skiers because it's easy to get to and offers very diverse terrain. Georgetown is the closest place to stay at about 8 miles away and no passes to cross
Thanks
I want to ski at Loveland sometime
Great video but i keep hearing Loveland's and the s is killing me, never heard it with an "s" before and it bugs me way too much.
Chess dream lift

loveland is in clear creek county not summit
@@JaredG_WV yes I know, I was talking about loveland and all the summit county ski areas
@@LongsYt if you leave at 6 or 7 on a week day, you'll get there easily before opening
@@Andrew.Aravis no not even close on peak weekend it can take 4-6 hours
@@LongsYt uhm I drive to Loveland all the time to ski on a weekday, and weekends. The longest drive I’ve ever had is 2 hours
oh i’ll be going soon pretty sure i get an employee discount on their cafeteria food 😎
I like these videos and appreciate the information, but also why is your voice the way it is?
His voice is great why would you insult him?
@@cherryfineartframes5834 I never said it wasn’t great, I just asked about the style. Don’t paint me as a bully, I’m a good person.
Free refills on chair 8
Isint trail ridge road the highest highway in the country?
Eisenhower tunnel is the highest interstate highway. Colorado has two other roads over 14,000 feet.
Trail ridge is the highest through road. Roads to summits of Pikes peak and Mt Blue Sky are highest. Eisenhower tunnel is the highest on interstate system.
Rerank steamboat pls
Locals mountain. Has some fun terrain, but lacks amenities tourists look for.
Chair 8 pow laps
Chair 9
Never skied at Loveland, but it looks impressive from I-70!
Sugarloaf review when?
Its horrible, 4,8 and 9 don't even offer coffee!
you can stay in georgetown
loveland actually sucks idk why anyone goes there
it doesn't tho?
"The" would indicate its the only one...
Loveland is terrible don’t go there. Short lift lines and wide open above timberline terrain takes all the challenge out of a day of skiing.
The word Loveland, The first part is Love, the second part is Land, not Lund, Loveland, not Lovelund, and slow down talking, you are unlistenable, if that's a word, Oh by the way, I am not a language professor, I am a retired automatic transmission rebuilder, that's had bad it is
You are not correct. He creates the best ski resort guides and his voice and pronunciation is great.
