You can not tax your way to prosperity. Going foward what we need is 1. 7yrs tax holiday on all new business. This incentivizes more business to open where there were none as a result creating jobs. 7yrs tax breaks gives them enough time to stand on their own to become going concerns. Govt can collect payroll tax from start of business. 2. We should have a progressive tax regime whereby the more workers you hire the less taxes you pay. This incentivezes businesses from laying off, hiring new employees. But a distinction should be made for big, medium, small businesses when considering the tax breaks. 3. Zero tax should be imposed on equuipment for production. For instance if you import machinery or any agri equipment or any value addition equipment that should be zero rated. A farmer or dealer importing a tractor should pay zero taxes. This ensures more production of food and creates effeciencies lowering the cost of food for the consumer.
