You should put that lint trap in front of your $100 in-line booster, that way it doesn't get clogged up.

Yup. I just swapped them around. Thanks for catching that.

Sorry to say, but your entire vent system is not up to code. There’s quite a few things you may want to consider. The duct used looks to be a thin gauge aluminum rather than 28 gauge required by IRC. The joints on the elbows and connections are not sealed properly. More importantly, Inline booster fans are no longer approved by the IRC and most every dryer manufacturer states to not use them in the manual. The one you have is not designed for a dryer exhaust and is not capable of handling the heat or lint. Also the fan being that close to the dryer is does not increase the air speed whatsoever. They were designed to be installed a minimum of 15 feet from the dryer to assist the air as it slowed. Installing one closer than that can damage the dryer. The dryer you have is more than capable of pushing 65ft+. You can verify this info by looking up your dryers model number. I will say you did great by replacing the foil venting with semi rigid as the foil really increases the static pressure leading to more lint accumulation. My suggestion would be to remove the fan, seal all joints and seams and install a single damper style exterior cover. If your set on using a inline fan I’d suggest looking into a code improved Dedpv but imo it’s completely unnecessary with your vent setup.

It's been working like a dream since I added the booster. No more damp clothes at the end of the cycle. We switched the external lint trap to go in front of the booster, so it wouldn't clog.

By showing what was built up in your rigid pipe you disproved every thing you were claiming about the flex hose.

I had used flex hose previously. It clogged the rigid pipe with lint. I am switching to rigid hose with another lint trap and booster. I will do another video showing the results in the pipe. We'll see!

@@diyorbust842 Proper maintenance is the key regardless of the piping you have.

Why not just vent the thing thru a wall instead of up and out? I don’t get contractors who vent a dryer thru a roof or using feet and feet of line. Put the laundry room on an exterior wall. Done.

Unfortunately this area is in the middle of the house. No way to vent through a wall.

If you put a match to that old vent hose, you will have an eye-opening experience. Don't use that cheap crap.

Yeah, no more flexible hosing. Only semi-rigid for now on.

At what point do americans just admit that a vented clothes dryer... a machine with a 6,000 watt red hot heating element that blows 100% of that expensive electric heat energy out of a 4" hole in the wall... is maybe a worse idea than *dehumidifying* the moisture out of the clothes with a heat pump dryer? Switzerland admitted it in like 1997 lol.. but then, they're an *actually developed* nation. Seriously, heat pump dryers make sense!

Heat pump dryers are nice - however take 2-3 times longer to dry less clothes (reduced capacity) and are 2-3 times more expensive.

Blowing the hot air directly out of your building is such a waste of energy. Better use a heat pump dryer.

Resistance electric vented dryers are the absolute most boomer american idea I can think of... "Burn it all and blow it out of a smokestack! Make those lazy millennials pull themselves up by the bootstraps like we had to when we inherited all the land!"

I wouldn't go that far. Let's just start with get a job and move out of your parent's house before you are 40. Or maybe stay with a job for more than a year because they didn't promote you from associate to CEO. 😂

Dehumidifier will dry the cloths for less then a quarter of the juice .
