I remember catching some of this match live on ESPN back then. Agassi was in the early stages of his worst year on tour. In some ways, the start of the slide, at least mentally, began after Agassi's loss to Sampras in the 1995 US Open final. Muster played really well in early '97 and beat Philippoussis here in the Indian Wells quarters. Do you have that match or any Muster matches from Indian Wells in 1997 or 1998?

In the middle of this chapter in his book now, you are definitely right, the loss to Pete at the us open destroyed Andre, who was in a fragile mental state anyway.
