Hi,how are you? I recently have bought a D700 and want a tele. What do you think about this lens (70-210 F4)? What is your opinion, using it on a D700 body? Thanks in advance.
Hi Daniel The D700 is a wonderful camera and the 70-210 f4 lens works perfectly on that camera as this was a combination I used for app 5 years. The older lenses are best used on cameras with a 10 to 20 megapixels anything above that the lens is not at it's best. All my lenses are vintage in combination with a D4 and DF body's both 15MP. It is a wonderfully sharp lens that I think you will not be disappointed with and is built like a tank unlike the modern plastic lenses. Hope this has been of help. John.
I agree with your comments regarding post corrections. Vignetting, CA, barrel/pincushion is done real time with Nikon lenses using jpeg. No sense paying for optical corrections.
In the summer I took a lot of pictures with one of this lens (AF 70-210/4) in a small Chinese school (with my Nikon D3s). Most of the photos in the slideshow were taken with this excellent lens. Bought it for $ 130 in close to new condition. Here is the link - th-cam.com/video/Cqybcc7IwEU/w-d-xo.html
Hi it is a lovely sharp lens built when they used to make lenses with metal rather than horrible plastic. Your images are amazing by the way. All the best
@@johndexterphotography1658 Thanks much! To be honest I always planned to buy another great Nikon lens - 80-200/2.8 MK3, but instead his even better picture and much faster AF h has 7 weakness in compare with this lens - 1) minimal focus distance (1.5m instead 1.1m which is very useful when you shooting inside rooms and also its give us much more magnification), 2) size (people pay more attantion to you) and 3) weight (with also not lightweigh FF camera you have really heavy set), 4) - 70mm is much better then 80mm again when you make photos inside houses, schools, 5) Price - its more then twice less, in fact 150 USD is not that money which one will broke our wallet if lens will be demaged, but 350-400 for 80-200 is really not small money, 6) More simple constraction and not that very wekk-knows soft spot on 80-200, which one today or tomorrow will broke, 7) its not pump design, after 2 years of use with my Nikon D3s there is no dust inside camera or lens. Happy NEw Year!
I would recommend the Nikon 75-300mm AF zoom lens as it is a fine performer and has a built in tripod mount. The 70-210mm f4 is an outstanding lens.
Thank you so muchh!!!
