  • Today on The Railway Room is a look at Cuckoo Junction, a large 00 gauge model railway which runs on a shelf around the edge of a room. In addition to the 00 standard gauge, it also features a 009 feeder line which runs from a terminus on a ledge above the standard gauge fiddleyard down to the main junction station. This video focuses entirely on trains running on the 009 section, whilst a video showing the rest of the layout will be uploaded in the future.
The rolling stock seen is resident on the line, comprising a mix of new RTR items with kit-built items retained from the now dismantled Rheilffordd Coed-y-Bleiddiau. Most of the buildings are also held over from that layout. Rheilffordd Coed-y-Bleiddiau video: • Rheilffordd Coed y Ble... The locomotives are mostly visiting from my own (now also dismantled) layout Dolgarreg Ddu. Dolgarreg Ddu video: • Dolgarreg Ddu - Welsh ...
    Locos seen are:
'Sybil Annie' - Chivers Finelines Quarry Hunslet kit running on an Arnold chassis
'Dolgoch' - work in progress Dolgochification of a Bachmann Rheneas, using the Narrow Planet kit
'Robert' - Mosskito Kerr, Stuart WHR diesel kit on a Bachmann Plymouth chassis
'Henry' - kitbash using leftover parts of a Mosskito Kerr, Stuart diesel kit, running on a Kato 11-109 chassis
'Jenni' - Roxey Mouldings Kerr, Stuart 'Hampton' kit running on a Fleischmann 7000 chassis
    'Blanche'- Bachmann Penrhyn mainline Hunslet
'Earl of Merioneth' - Bachmann double Fairlie
'Heron' - kitbash railcar on Kato long wheelbase chassis
    No 2 - Minitrains WW1 Baldwin 2-6-2T (repainted)
    'Princess' - Kato/Peco small England
The audio is all taken from my own videos on real narrow gauge railways, and can all be found on my TH-cam channel. There is more info on my model railways on my website: fortheloveofste...

My grandson loved seeing the narrow gauge running. He's hoping to get some more work done to his 009 layout this weekend 🙂👍

That's great, hope it goes well! I really ought to get some more work done on mine too...

Thank you very much! The sound is all painstakingly edited together using audio from my own videos on real narrow gauge railways

    Good stuff as ever.
Have you considered doing sound files - if you are this good at editing.
Sven at Tramfabriek does his own so maybe it's do-able

      Thank you!
That's an interesting idea, and probably doable in theory. I wouldn't know how to format and package then for a decoder though, and as a DC user I wouldn't be able to use them myself

Great video. I am interested in the provenance of the locos and rolling stock. I am currently building a model of 4415 and just wondered who produced the one in rhe video.

Thank you. The 2 Kerr, Stuart diesels were both constructed from the same Mosskito whitemetal kit. Robert (in green) uses a replacement plasticard footplate to fit a Bachmann Plymouth chassis. The kit includes a number of alternate pieces to build a later Sudan version of the loco, so I used these parts with a number of plasticard scratch built pieces to construct Henry (in blue) on a Kato 109
