    Yes, Hua Hua has some "I don't know what..." that makes we love him, his music, his voice, his presence. We cry with him, we laugh with him, we feel his love and respect for his Martians... I am from the other side of the world, I don't understand his language, I am 60 years old, I'm not even from his generation, and when I listen to him singing I feel the same as I used to feel in my youth when I listened to Queen, Michael Jackson, Scorpions, etc. I can't explain it either. Thank you for your reaction!

    Thanks so much for a great reaction to Hua Hua's version of Heaven. And total respect for Tengri's original song. Tengri definitely had the raw power of someone expressing the pain and sorrow for something lost, a very personal experience. Hua Hua's gorgeous version, I felt was more of a longing for something sought for; but not yet found or perhaps missing a place. His emotional expression of the song just drew me in. I agree, he sings from his soul and there has been no one else who has quite captured my heart as he has. 💗💗

    I feel like Hua Hua would be very happy with your reaction. The premise of this show in a nutshell, is that there are a small group of established singers, and amateur singers will come on to challenge them. The amateur singer gets to sing a song of their own choosing while they choose the song that the established singer has to sing. One of the things that I absolutely adore about Hua Hua is that he would put 100% effort in to competing but in the end it was always about the music first and when someone came on who Hua Hua thought was talented, he would encourage the audience to vote for the other person and he would literally work with some to help them compete. A Martian came on one time and Hua Hua actually helped her compete against his professional friend by working with her and then going to the background to sing with the background singers since she was singing his song and was nervous about him sitting in front of her watching. He saw her talent and said that they (the established singers) already have the stage and those amateurs with talent should have a chance to stay. No ego involved. Hua is the real deal...a beautiful, kind soul. I love this man which is why I have flown all the way from California to Wuhan, China, and am laying in bed, wide awake in the wee hours of the morning, so excited to attend my first Mars concert!

    Tengri's song is amazing & Hua wanted to pay tribute to the beauty of the song, he has a lot of respect for Tengri.
    This cover is instant goosebumps for me, the feelings he portrays are so beautiful, he really uses his voice as an instrument.
    This performance was about 3 years after he won his first competition and became a professional singer, the show puts professional singers singing a song picked for them 24 hours before against amateur singers who could choose their own songs well in advance.
    Interesting fact he wanted to play the flute solo himself, but was not able to because of the timings.

    Tengri’s version you can feel the tragedy and longing for reunion in it, while Hua Chenyu’s version is almost ethereal in design. Composition wise both match the title, but Tengri’s version of heaven is clearly his homeland and daughter, while Hua Chenyu’s is something else entirely, and it feels like two separate and individual images of their heaven. It’s so well done.

  • @TatyanaMincheva

    Thank you for the reaction! Hua Chenyu was actually one of the professional singers on the show, he didn't choose the song, he was challenged to re-arrange it by one of the amateur singers. And he did a good job of making Heaven his own style. I love Tengri's version more because of it's raw power. I use Hua's version as a cure for the soul. Both songs are so different that they are no longer the same song in my mind, just the same lyrics.

  • @holbeckmax
    @holbeckmax ปีที่แล้ว +18

    Tengri's is an emotional punch due to it being about his homeland (Mongolia) and in memory of his daughter who died aged 6. That is why it feels so raw.
    Hua Chenyu's cover is one of my favourite performances of his. All of his performances on The Next are special. Just to correct you a little Hua Chenyu was one of the professional singers on both series of The Next (the youngest). Amateurs (including one of Hua's backing singers) challeged a professional to a sing off. The amateur came with something pre-prepared and chose the song the professional had to rearrange and sing. The professional had 24hrs in which to do this. The audiance voted for their winner.

  • @rosareis8191
    @rosareis8191 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    Fil, I must have explained it wrong. Hua and the others you see in the video are the professional singers. They are challenged by amateur singers, which you don't see in this video. The amateurs gave Hua songs that were very difficult to rearrange (like this one) so that he would be defeated. In some cases yes, but Hua won many of these challenges. As he sings he pretends he is playing the harp, because Hua plays the harp in addition to many other instruments. Hua gives 2 days of Mars Concert in Wuhan Saturday and Sunday. We have many martians there from our facebook groups of martians. So I'm going to share this reaction there. Thank you very much 💖💖

    Hua is one of the great for sure. In this case Tengri sang about his lost past living in his country that’s a whole other standpoint.
    It’s not Hua‘s remembering of his youth and country of the way to live - it’s Tengri‘s live and longing to his mongolian homeland (or daughter)
    Therefore you feel Tengri’s natural emotions more.

    Hi..you got it wrong about The Next program ..this copy paste explains it..:"The Next" (also known as "Sound of War") is a singing competition/show where anyone can challenge mature singers, and fight for dreams to reach the top. From the start of each episode, 7 ordinary people from all walks of life will choose a singer to challenge, and each singer warrior (singers) would choose to accept a single challenger. The song the challenger chose for the singer warrior will then be revealed, and the singer warrior must compete with their challenger by singing the chosen song. The singer warriors have 24 hours to rearrange to chosen songs, and after 24 hours, they will face their challengers on the stage of "The Next" with 400 audiences who would cast their votes to decide the winner. On average, the rearrangement of a song goes along the lines of choosing a style, composing a demo, rearranging, settling the music sheets, rehearsals, etc. This process usually takes 1 week, but in "The Next", the time is shortened to only 24 hours, with 4 singer warriors sharing one music band.
    So Hua Hua is one of professional singer warrior and this song was chosen for him by his challenger and he rearranged it in 24 hours..

He wanted to play the flute himself. During the rehearsal he realised he can't because the flute part starts before his last singing note ends 😅. So they had to find another flute player in the last minute.

    Something that always strikes me when thinking about Hua's version vs Tengri's, is that from what I understand, this performance occurred before the Singer performance by Tengri with Hua in the green room watching. When it cuts to Hua, you see his reaction of what I interpret as awe and perhaps some chagrin from watching the original artist perform the song he already re-interpreted. I absolutely love both performances, but Hua is very humble and likely feels his doesn't compare to Tengri's. He went on to be mentored by Tengri on singing style, which seems apparent to me after the Singer 2018 season.

    He was GIVEN this song, and... 24 hours to rearrange, stage and perform it. Tengri wrote it from the heart and heart broken. Even his original version is more Industrial sounding than the version by Tengri on Singer 2018. No, Hua Hua was one of the Judges. Judges were Challenged by Competitors. Judges then became Mentors in later rounds doing duets. Not sure if you have Reacted to Hua Chenyu and Su Shiding doing "Nanping Evening Bells"? That was this same programme (The Next). But with Judge/Mentor Hua Hua, and Contestant Su Su. 👍

    I don't even think it's fair to compare the older man's version to this very young man's. Obviously Tengger is singing this with maturity and a depth of emotion based upon decades of living and in the case of his daughter, losing a cherished child. Thats not something the younger singer can convey effectively, having no such experience. I think both did a marvelous job within their own realms. I suggested the Tengre version about a year ago and I'm glad you got around to it. I appreciate Hua in general and this more wistful version in particular. He did a good job of reimagining the song to suit his personality as you should when covering a classic otherwise what's the point? But I was introduced to the song via Tengre and his version will always be the one for me. I was captured by the authenticity and craftsmanship of his singing style and the inclusion of the ethnic elements at the beginning but most of all by his visceral passion both in his love for the subjects of his song and his anger about the ecological damage that's been done to his country and his sense of loss. It was palpable. I think if you listen again to his version and retake the journey without interruption you might enjoy it even more. The whole is more than the sum of its parts.
    As I often feel in this circumstance, I don't really care for comparisons. I'm glad that I don't have to choose because we have both and there is a place for both.
