I love that you review so many random movies, including classics. I have looked up old movies on TH-cam because you say they're on there. I also like that you will review newer stuff that I've already seen. I especially liked your take on The Village. Great movie review channel!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy the variety of reviews, and it's great that you've been checking things out on TH-cam! There's a treasure trove of films on here right now, and I love it when I can provide a link so anybody watching my video will be able to access the film in question.
JW, I love your movie reviews. Great show. You are right about the Beast from Yucca Flats. I saw it on MST3K and it's BAD. Keep up the good work. 👋 Steven Romero
Dear Ms. Weiselberry, I remember seeing "Two on a Guillotine" (1965) on TV a couple of times back in the day. Then, I knew Cesar Romero exclusively from Batman-66, so I guess I was long under the impression he only played wacky and weird characters. Another nice set of reviews!
Very happy about your reviews, mini- and mega alike. 😊 I remember Herbert Lom being good as Captain Nemo in _Mysterious Island_ . By the way, on November 3, Godzilla turns 70 years old. 🤯
“ Two on aGuillotine “ used to be in pretty regular rotation on the old “ CBS Thursday or Friday Night Movie “. As kids we used to wonder if he was going to return to the living on the night and time he said. Then when creepy things start happening around the house..? Thanks for the reviews. Always love the mini-reviews! Interesting, coincidence: movies with One, Two and Three-adjacent ("thrid") in their titles.;-) Yes, the Connie Stevens movie reminded me of HOUASE ON HAUNTED HILL (the first one).
Connie Stevens is very well known to those of us “Of a Certain Age”. I have very fond memories of her from the Cold War romantic Sci-Fi comedy Way Way Out, with Jerry Lewis in one of his less slapstick film roles. Maybe a review in the future Jerome? I too saw The Third Secret for the first time in October, coming away with similar feelings. The dialogue is overwritten by half, but I found the unusual structure intriguing and Franklin’s performance is a gem. My favorite aspect though was the striking widescreen B&W cinematography by Douglas Slocombe. My biggest question mark was whether the story warranted such gorgeous widescreen compositions…perhaps the story would have more stifling with more standard cinematography? The film’s not particularly successful but I do find myself continuing to consider certain aspects long after viewing… Enjoyed all the mini- reviews in October…keep them coming Jerome!
Always love the mini-reviews! I saw "Two on a Gullotine" as a kid and it really scared me. Connie Stevens was also on the "Hawaiian Eye" with Robert Conrad. Gonna check out "State Secret" for that great cast.
Hello J. Busy month for you; thanks for reviewing these non-spooky movies as well. So glad you got to see One Life and like it as much as I did. It was a special experience for me at the local theater - and the house was pretty full as I recall. Last month I don't think I saw a single movie since someone gave me access to Hulu; I've been catching up on Tracker, High Potential, Fargo. All very good. Enjoy the late fall weather, take care.
I stumbled on your channel about a month ago. I love your reviews, you are always candid and honest. I also love that you still seem to be using an older camera, it suits the style of your channel perfectly! You have become one of my go-to channels for classic films.
I love how this video includes “I hope my red blemish wasn’t distracting” (it wasn’t at all; I didn’t even see it) but doesn’t mention AT ALL the swapping of shirts - to a “Jurassic Park” one, no less! - without comment. Such trickery! 😂
😂 wonderful... If you had grown up in my neighborhood in Atlanta In the 1950s, with the theater three houses away right up the street and another theater three blocks away and every Saturday we all lined up and paid $0.25 to get in to see the Saturday matinee I think you would have been a great terrific addition to our movie group!
Only just found your channel through your great 1970s disaster movie videos - now a subscriber I look forward to catching up with your other videos 🙏🏻🙌🏼
Another great video. Your continuity director must have taken the day off. From a nice orange shirt to a black Jurassic Park shirt and then back to the orange one again. HAHA. Just kidding of course.
I didn't watch any spooky movies for Halloween, but I did read Blackwood's "The Nemesis of Fire" and Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Good and spooky enough.
A linguistic expert was hired to create a new language for State Secret! Jack Hawkins hated having to learn it. I love Herbert Lom's guest star role and Glynis Johns is adorable. "There's just one problem. I have no talent."
Hope you get well soon, Miss Jerome cheers ALOT of us up, she's proof that the younger generation has good values and traits- plus she's funny( her Bloopers videos are hilarious - I'm hoping she'll put one out for Christmas!!)

Happy Sunday :) I personally would never be sick of watching your mini-reviews but I’d imagine you may feel a little relieved that you don’t have to edit another one for a while lol. I watched Dear Zachary after you’d first mentioned seeing it a couple of weeks ago and I saw One Life a little while ago because it was available on Sky Movies, I’ve also seen maybe five minutes of The Third Secret on TV. Dear Zachary is a film I still think about, I feel like I could say a lot about it but also struggle to talk about it, words seem inefficient. Why did that woman have no understanding of love? Love is the opposite of selfish it’s selfless. Why did the justice system fail little Zachary so tragically? It’s so sad :( …. I never saw it coming. The strength Kate and David have shown is incredible, every decision they made was with heart and soul. It would’ve been very difficult not to let rage takeover when in that woman’s company. I wish David, Kate and their family and friends some peace. One Life was great, I really liked it and Anthony Hopkins was incredible, it could be my favourite Hopkins performance, he brought a sweet calmness to the part and I loved how the marriage was portrayed, it was lovely. The film did make me a little teary a couple of times. Lee the story of WW2 photographer Lee Miller starring Kate Winslet is now available on Sky so I’ll watch that this week, there’s another Hopkins film on there titled Freud’s Last Session that I may check out. Haven’t seen anything else apart from the forgettable five minutes of The Third Secret, if I learned what the third secret was in those five minutes I can’t remember it, perhaps the secret is that the film is a bit iffy lol. The State Secret on the other hand sounds promising so I plan to watch that one tomorrow night, I’ve always thought Douglas Fairbanks Sr or Jr is a great film star name, its a name that requires a moustache, and sword, it’s a name that says this guy can probably beat up a polar bear and the film has Herbert Lom too lol. Two on a Guillotine is another that seems like fun. We didn’t have any shopping channels over here until the Sky digital box was introduced and now we have 14, I’ve never really looked at them for more than a second until now, QVC is there and also a couple of High Street channels, lots of Christmas stuff on the channels as flick through. Thank you for these terrific and insightful reviews and for adding some more interesting films to my watchlist. ~ Thank you Ms Weiselberry ~ :)
Mm, there are some perks to doing the mini review videos, but I'm happy to take a break now. :) Yes, Dear Zachary is definitely one of those things you continue to think about for a long time after. It was a massive and infuriating failure of the system, with a dash of corruption thrown in, I think. Their patience and tolerance were tremendous, given what they knew must be true. Clearly there were times when they felt absolutely disgusted by the circumstances, but they persevered for the baby's sake. Haha, the number of shopping channels we have has similarly exploded in the last decade or so, but years ago, it was all about HSN and QVC. I considered them major rivals (I favored QVC and could have delivered a whole speech listing the reasons why), but later I learned they were actually related somehow, owned by the same people or something. That kind of burst the bubble. Nowadays there are a bunch of shopping channels, but they all look pretty much the same, and on the rare occasions when I pass one, I wonder how many people are actually watching and buying stuff. QVC and HSN seem to still be going strong, and I'd credit their longevity to their robust embrace of the internet long before Amazon came along and revolutionized online shopping. But I do wonder how much longer they'll be able to survive. I'm so glad you enjoyed One Life, and I hope you get a chance to check out the other movies that are of interest sometime. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these films! I always look forward to your comments on whatever you have (or haven't!) seen. :)
@@Weiselberry Young Weiselberry was team QVC over HSN? Hahaha, It’s so quirky to have been able to give a speech as a youngster as to why one was superior to the other, the reviewer was emerging even then, I love that lol. I watched the 6 most disturbing abandoned building encounters video last night :0 I do not understand the appeal of exploring abandoned houses, I don’t get it at all, they act like they’re Ernest Shackleton exploring the Antarctic when it’s just a dark house they’re in, a house like the one they live in. Diane Cilento was in one of my favorite films, 1967’s Hombre with Paul Newman (and other notable actors). She was also in the often lauded Wicker Man, a film I’ve never been able to bring myself to watch. Cilento was also married to some actor named Sean Connery.
Although it was shorter, this video had some great reviews and thanks for recommendations for movies I'd never heard of. Here are some I saw last week: Thief 1971 - on YT Haunt 2019 - on tubi The Strangers 2009 - on tubi Synchronic 2019 - on tubi Pretty Poison 1968 - on YT
Several of these look interesting to me. I'm planning to watch State Secret next chance I get. I was doing some reading about it and found that the language used in the film is Esperanto. An invented language using words and structures of other languages, intended to aid learning by many cultures. It was hoped that it would be widely adopted and become a universal language to unite the world. Guess that didn't work out so well. Although the world could definitely use some uniting!
Hi! I saw Two On A Guillotine numerous times during childhood when it aired in rotation on network TV as someone already pointed out. And you'd better believe I had a credit card on file with HSN and bought a boat load of Connie Stevens skin care. It was really good! To this day, I wish I could find a shampoo and conditioner anywhere near as good. And I had Kali cologne, too! She was a lovely lady, well, still is, I'm sure, and had the distinction of being one of the stunningly beautiful ladies who unaccountably married Eddie Fisher. How...why...?
Saw an anthology film that I quite liked called Three Cases of Murder 1954. The first and third stories are fantastic in nature. They are very good and wouldn't seem out of place as episodes of The Twilight Zone. The middle story is solid but has a familiar plot. Orson Welles leads the last tale. Alan Badel impresses. Glad you liked One Life. Australian Diane Cilento went on to marry Sleuth writer Anthony Shaffer and appeared in the Shaffer scripted cult classic The Wicker Man 1973. Your blemish is beautiful. Thank you.
You'd like Juror #2 if/when it comes to streaming platforms. It could easily be a movie from 80 years ago! Also Clint Eastwood directed a movie age 94 which is quite a feat.
I enjoyed your reviews. I remember Diane Cilento as Sean Connery's wife. In YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, when James Bond (Sean Connery) and the female Japanese agent (Mie Hama) are in a boat and encounter poisonous gas, they dive into the water to escape the gas. Hama was sick or something similar, so Cilento, in a black wig, doubled as Hama after they dive into the water---it's Connery and Cilento in the underwater scene. Since you're a Godzilla fan, the two female Japanese agents in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE were played by Mie Hama and Akiko Wakabayashi----earlier, they appeared together in KING KONG VS. GODZILLA.
Wow, I was just reading about some of this yesterday! I watched the Japanese spy comedy Ironfinger, one of two James Bond spoofs Mie Hama costarred in before getting to be in the real thing.
@@Weiselberry I also hope you saw my earlier comment for Godzilla's 70th anniversary, Toho announced that Takashi Yamazaki of GODZILLA MINUS One is returning for a new Godzilla movie.
Fairbanks is great in the fun swashbuckler The Fighting O'Flynn. Would also like to see you delve into '60s Italian Gothic: Castle of Blood, Kill Baby Kill, Black Sabbath, Crypt of the Vampire, et al.
Two on a Guillotine is the only one of these I’d seen and agree with your assessment. The others look intriguing. I like Pamela Franklin. You should review The Lion in which she befriends the king of beasts.
I enjoyed "One Life," but having seen the original footage of the studio/tv show with Nicholas Winton, I couldn't help but be a little disappointed at an opportunity missed in the movie, as the footage of the actual show is so very powerful. Watching the movie re-creation of the scene, I said to myself, "Aw, they missed it" (the emotional impact). IMO, of course. As they say, "It's hard to compete with the original". Anyone who hasn't seen these moments, you can see them here on YT. Be sure to find vids that have longer sequences of the tv show.
Movies like TBOYF might be better enjoyed in a theater. Maybe. I live with retiree sister taking turns caring for disabled mother. And its almost impossible to quietly watch & enjoy anything over 1hr on TV. Your vids are always a weekly bright spot, Gorgeous. Thank you.
Entertaining video and great and informative reviews as always. On an unrelated note... I had a question about your content backlog. I figured I'd put this comment with your most recent video.... Have you reviewed Galaxy Quest? It's my 3rd favorite "Star Trek" Non-Star Trek movie, or really my favorite "not actually Star Trek but still Star Trek in spirit" movie. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
Your excellent review of “ dear Zachary” placed this on my “ never to watch” list… smile…. I have found I like my movies to be as escapist as possible….laugh… zombies or angels for me.
Why hasn't NPR, Sirius radio channels, or even one of the regular cable channels, picked you up for a regular "nostalgia" or "classic movie" review spot. You would already get 32K immediate fans, right?
Not yet, but I'd like to. It's hard to find in the US, unfortunately. Somebody uploaded a bunch of episodes to TH-cam a while back, but they didn't stay up for long.
@@Weiselberry There is a British retro TV channel, Talking Pictures TV, they have a sort 0f ad channel on YT but there are some contacts listed there. It might be possible to obtain or view them through these but I'm not sure about this.
Interesting reviews! As for Dear Zachery, I understand why you warn about "disturbing" content and I appreciate it. Speaking for myself, I'd say I'm not easily disturbed and welcome material that might be a little raw to others (though I don't watch slasher films). I enjoy a review that is a little outside the reviewer's comfort zone; it shows a certain daring that some of us older folks might enjoy. Edit: I just watched Dear Zachery and I fully understand just how disturbing the story would be to many...wow!
An excellent selection of films on the whole, 'Secret State' in particular being one that I've seen a few times. 'One Life' is a film which I want to see, but as of yet I haven't, your review has only made it more desirable. A U.K. TV film that I recommend for you to review, is, 'Rainy Day Women': th-cam.com/video/Eu6w9eiB1DY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XwRhm80SDrUbj6sS I hope that you enjoy it and review it.

Mm, there are some perks to doing the mini review videos, but I'm happy to take a break now. :)
Yes, Dear Zachary is definitely one of those things you continue to think about for a long time after.
I’m so clueless on the matter, I learned QVC was short for Quality Value Convenience exactly three seconds ago, I’m assuming HSN is Home Shopping Network lol. Hipsters Slippers Now? a channel created specifically for selling slippers to hipsters, it’d have a very small viewership.
I checked out the channel Chilling Scares and watched a couple of the videos on there only to realise that I’ve actually been to the channel before. I went down a rabbit hole of creepy things caught on doorbell cameras, Every now and then I’ll decide to watch one of these creepy videos and then regret it, I’ll watch it at night too and then have to watch something cheerful afterwards before going to bed which makes me extra tired. I remember one about people living in vans and the creepy experiences they had. Someone call the Metropolitan museum because we’ve discovered a 2004 ikea sofa lol.
~ Thank you again Ms Weiselberry ~ :)

I watched State Secret last night and thought it was really good and was riveted to my seat from the beginning. Thank you for sharing another very enjoyable film. :)
~ Thank you again Ms Weiselberry ~
I've had Dear Zachary on my list for ages but I can't yet bring myself to watch it. Still nice to hear your thoughts on it
Always fun.
Peace on earth.
These all sound like excellent choices to add to my "JW Recommendations" list 😀
Diane Cilento was in one of my favorite films, 1967’s Hombre with Paul Newman (and other notable actors). She was also in the often lauded Wicker Man, a film I’ve never been able to bring myself to watch. Cilento was also married to some actor named Sean Connery.
Just watched The Third Secret. I really liked it. But I guess I've always had a soft spot for early English films.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Although it was shorter, this video had some great reviews and thanks for recommendations for movies I'd never heard of.
Here are some I saw last week:
Thief 1971 - on YT
Haunt 2019 - on tubi
The Strangers 2009 - on tubi
Synchronic 2019 - on tubi
Pretty Poison 1968 - on YT
My mom *still* likes to wear Kali! Ah, I'm glad someone else remembers her from the HSN days. :)
I don't mind the mini review format at all. It's a fun change!
Saw an anthology film that I quite liked called Three Cases of Murder 1954. The first and third stories are fantastic in
nature. They are very good and wouldn't seem out of place as episodes of The Twilight Zone. The middle story is
solid but has a familiar plot. Orson Welles leads the last tale. Alan Badel impresses.
Glad you liked One Life.
Australian Diane Cilento went on to marry Sleuth writer Anthony Shaffer and appeared in the Shaffer scripted cult classic
The Wicker Man 1973.
Your blemish is beautiful. Thank you.
You'd like Juror #2 if/when it comes to streaming platforms. It could easily be a movie from 80 years ago! Also Clint Eastwood directed a movie age 94 which is quite a feat.
I thought he'd retired! I guess that was just from acting. Wow.
Thanks for another solid review roundup. As for the distracting red spot, I only saw two rosy cheeks and your beautiful smile.
Herbert Lom with a full head of curly hair was kind of strange to see. I'm used to seeing him as an older actor with no hair at all.
Lom's hair!
Thank you.
Can't go wrong with Jack Hawkins or Herbert Lom.
Speaking of Douglas Fairbanks Jr, check out The Exile. It dates from around 1948 and though not perfect makes for a good semi-historical swashbuckler.
I enjoyed him playing dual roles in 1941's The Corsican Brothers, which is also a swashbuckler.
Aw, Tony Todd passed. I hope you review Candyman (1992) maybe next October!
Herbert Lom? Commissioner Dreyfus??
The very same.
Why hasn't NPR, Sirius radio channels, or even one of the regular cable channels, picked you up for a regular "nostalgia" or "classic movie" review spot.
You would already get 32K immediate fans, right?
I've seen the Connie Stevens movie, it's not bad, enjoyable.
pamela franklin "a tiger walks/1964" filmi ile ilk çocukluk aşklarımdandı.
No blemish can coverup talent. More reviews please!!
Have you ever seen Herbert Lom in the British 60s TV series, The Human Jungle? I highly recommend it. He plays a good guy psychiatrist.
Watched DEAR ZACHARY; may need to watch it again.
Diane Cilento was married to Sean Connery.
Ah, I didn't know that. Did I say her name right, or should it be pronounced the Italian way?
Dear Zachary. I don't know if I've ever been that furious. The hair on my arms stood up.
Miss Jerome Weiselberrg, I have not seen your review of The Story Of G.I. Joe 1945. Is there one?
@@ThomasTheeck-v1v No, I mentioned it in one of my war movie videos years ago, but I haven't reviewed it.
7:44 someone else who doesn't like the innocents. I thought I was alone. I've not liked any adaptation of the story to be honest.
OMG this is the kind of person I'd marry in a second. She is so perfect ❤
If you put some posters on the thumbnail it would be useful I think. Good quick reviews!
oh no, not Dear Zachary...
You don't like The Innocents?
*Unsubsribe*
I kid, I kid.
An excellent selection of films on the whole, 'Secret State' in particular being one that I've seen a few times. 'One Life' is a film which I want to see, but as of yet I haven't, your review has only made it more desirable.
A U.K. TV film that I recommend for you to review, is, 'Rainy Day Women':

I hope that you enjoy it and review it.
