@@devinporter532 Blaming the defense made sense during Seider’s rookie season when they had Ned and were giving up goals against a 3 on 0 breakaway (that even Andre and Igor wouldn’t hope to be able to stop), but our defense is good enough now that the excuses for bad goaltending are getting thin. That first goal by SJ came by bad goaltending because Husso gave too much space in a tight window. That happened twice this game. I expect better than that. That’s not to say the defense was perfect because they weren’t. But the whole point of having a goalie is to stop the puck from getting in a net. If you can’t stop a puck from 1 player that already has a bad scoring angle, that’s on the goalie. I get 2 man breakaways and such, but this is unacceptable
@@devinporter532 Dude if it happens EVERY SINGLE TIME a particular goalie is in net, no matter how well the team has been playing prior to that, maybe it's his fault? The team doesn't trust Husso. They play terribly when he's in net, bc he stinks and they know it.
Husso always magically has the defense play poorly in front of him. Almost as if it's to do w him and his badness, that the defense doesn't trust him at all which results in playing tight and nervous and screwing up more.
For the second time in as many seasons, the Wings embarass themselves on their home ice against the worst team in the league and both times they allowed a shorthanded goal. Remember this game if we barely miss the playoffs like last year.
Does Husso have unsavory pics of Yzerman or something? How does this dude continue to get starts? 1-8 as a starter now with .866 sv%, how many more games are they gonna let him lose for us before they realize he’s no good? And don’t get me started on Holl
A lot of goaltending is about mental control which doesn't reveal itself in practice. I would guess that Husso makes lots of great saves in practice and he plays well in the AHL, but come an NHL game and under much higher pressure, his mental composure crumbles and leaves you with this performance.
In case anyone forgot, Yzerman the Yzerplan paid Mike Grier to take Jake Walman and a 2nd round pick for future considerations. Walman has as many points as Seider in ten less games and plays on an inferior team. Yeah, Yzerman is such a great gm 😆
Celebrini and Eklund looked very dangerous in this one. Sharks are still undefeated with Vlasic in the lineup. Walman makes his return to his former arena.
Is Husso an issue? Very much so. Is Holl also an issue? Absolutely. But as far as Husso goes, you can't have all 4 or 5 guys go for or wait for the puck and leave a player open. 99% of the time a goal will be scored. It does not matter who the goalie is.

Truly poor defending from Red Wings defense. You can' t blame the goalie of these mistakes, but you do. Its so easy to find a scapegoat from others. San Jose has a bright future ahead.
Red wings looked like they were over committing to the puck all day. The shorty, the Eklund backdoor goal, the Granlund power play goal, all cases where 3 or 4 red sweaters tried to swarm the puck and left somebody wide open on the far side of the ice.

The shorty on the breakaway, Talbot probably plays that a bit better instead of lifting the pad, but that was a clean breakaway, gotta put something on the defense there. The Granlund goal on the power play, again, while red wing team was over committing, you can't just leave somebody breaking in alone on the back side like that.
