Watched this while taking a break from studying a course related to my current degree program -- which I often had doubts pursuing for the past three years. If anything, I felt reaffirmed by this: that yes, I should still press on. What struck me is when you mentioned that we should first consider whether we are shifting out of passion and love. While these two words never felt 100% true with me in my current program, I could neither see myself loving another related program, by reason of unaligned interest or my personality -- one where I feel I would do better. I was lost. Truth is: I wanted to leave "out of fear" of not passing the licensure exams and also because I lacked belief in myself. Add to that, it can be frustrating when your efforts don't translate into the results. All the while though I felt like there was a guiding hand or a quiet voice telling me to stay still. And thanks to family, I did gain a bit of confidence. Your advice of consulting others is on point, but most of all, thank you for reminding me that having doors shut in front of you (and even failing) is part of being directed to where He wants you to be. Communication (via prayer) is important.

You're just soooo lucky to have very supportive people around you, i'm in the process of shifting right now and all i can hear from my parents is "ano? Hanggang ganyan ka nalang ba?" "Di ka na ba mag aaral?" "May pagganyan ganyan ka pa kasi e" "bahala kang mapariwara sa buhay mo" "bahala ka mag asawa ka nalang" and many more, i came from a very religious family pero i just can't understand bakit there are people who are as lucky as you and as unlucky as me, i just feel unmotivated, tinatanong ko na lang din sarili ko if titigil nalang ba ko? Hahanap nalang ako ng trabaho na "mababa" sa paningin ng mga taong nakapaligid sakin? Give up nalang ba? Kasi nakakatakot din baka magfail din ako sa course na pagshishiftan ko e, pero sabi ko ako ang talo pag nag give up e, plus nakakainspire po story mo, i hope God would give me the same strength and courage he gave you as i transfer to another course

Hi Kaye! For what it's worth, I've had my fair share of toxic circles too! Know that there are healthy communities out there and that there are people who are willing to walk with you. Hope you come across them somewhere along the way like I did!
As for the interview with the dean, based from experience, you just have to be honest and respectful sa answers mo. I think the main question they ask naman is the reason why you want to shift, so maybe think about how you are going to explain the reason in a clear and concise way. Rooting for you!!
Thank you so much ate, I really need this. I've been really stress out lately bcs Idk if I should really shift from IT to CS. What I really want is CS but I got into IT due to a reason that our school temporarily freeze the CS major this year. Idk if it will open for an enrollment next year but I really hope so. I am trying to learn to love the course I am currently in, but dami talagang what ifs like I wish sa ibang school nalang ako nag enroll and so on. I don't really know what should I do and decide. It feels like I am lost, it's very frustating but thanks for reminding me that God is always there. Currently I feel alone and feels like no one can help me with the problems I am currently going through but God has always been there for me. It just feels like the doors for the course I love are all close, it feels like it is not for me but if it God's will , he will grant our prayers. Naiiyak nalang ako habang nanonood vid mo ate haha kasi I can relate it currently, the feeling of doubts, frustations. Thank you so much really, you've helped me a lot .

Hi, I'm also an IT student planning to take CS course. CS talaga yung first choice ko pero since I live in a province, akala ko walang CS course dito kaya I took IT, then nalaman ko na may available na CS course kaya balak ko nadin sana lumipat, kinocompare ko nadin mga subjects ko sa subjects ng CS and most likely mga 2 to 4 subjects ang need ko habulin, hopefully na I can still graduate at the same time sa mga regular students. Besides na I love the course, kinoconsider ko din yung sa finances and yung kung gaano kalapit yung school kasi maga f2f na and di ako pinayagan mag dorm kaya if you're planning to shift, there are lots of things to consider din lalo na yung mga iisipin ng family mo, but if you can really picture yourself happy in BSCS course, then go for it kahit 5 years magtatagal sa college, mas worth it yung pagod pag nasa tamang course/school
@@christinang478 thanks for the advice ate, rn mag sesecond year na akoo, nagtanong ako sa uni namin if open for enrollment ba ung BSCS unfortunately hindi pa din kaya tuloy na talaga ako dito sa IT. lipat sana ako ibang school kaso kinoconsider ko ung gastos, tsaka iba din medyo komplikado na talaga pag lilipat pa ako ibang university. habang tumatagal din medyoo nagugustohan ko na din tung kurso na to pero syempre CS padin pinakagusto koo. Teach ko nalang sarili ko like online courses sa mga ibang subjects sa bscs, sa curriculum din namin dito sa school konti lang pinagkaibang subjects sa CS tsaka IT.

I wish this video existed when I shifted for another course and then end up just dropping out overall because the problem is actually not the course, it's actually my mental health :') Now I'm coming back to college after healing and possibly to the same program I first took because it's still calling for me sfhfhfxhf This is why think DEEPLY if you want to shift or there are just other factors that's making you think you want to shift. Also please be super honest with yourself. Get help din. I thought about it for 4-5 months, yet here I am. Now, I have to live with regrets, the fact that I'll be delayed and that my relatives will always question me and my college decisions. But I'm glad I have a strong support system, so still, susubukang kayanin ang pagsubok ng buhay.

hii, i just wanna seek advice here. I'm currently 1st year architecture student and planning to shift. First of all I am not good in drawing but still pursue this thinking I can learn different skills here. Right now I am failing some major subjects due to many reasons talaga like burnout, stress, di na din kinakaya ng katawan ko, madalas 2-4 times ako magcoffee, and this 2nd sem nagkaron kami ng f2f na depende lang sa prof kung want nila kami pumasok tapos 2 hrs biyahe, but then there's still an online class pag uwi huhu. Also I have an ojt everyday. Due to that complicated reasons I fail to finish some plates and now failing some major subjects. I want to shift to tourism course but after watching this vlog I realized I am not that passionate about that course. Actually I'm not sure what I'm passionate about. I don't really know what to do. I'm so confused, i pray every night, I cry every moment, I'm just a mess right now. I don't know anymore, should i continue? should I shift? how will I know if this is the right course for me? why i dont see myself in any particular degree? I'm begging y'all, please somebody help me clear my mind.
Hi Lavjoyce! First, I want you to know that your feelings are valid, especially during the first few years of college. It's common for students talaga to doubt their choice of course. It seems to me that you are on the verge of a burn-out so instead of providing a way out of your situation, I suggest to take a breather. Slow down ka muna maybe sa daily pace mo or try to map out your thoughts about this. Having conversations with people you trust or even journaling can help you organize your thoughts and help you think more clearly about your next possible steps.
You are more important than what you do. I hope na beyond everything that you are going through, you will choose to prioritize your physical and mental health --- not naman to suggest na to take a break from everything, but to try to explore other routines that might help you navigate through things better.
Adjusting to a sudden change in workload can be really overwhelming! Just take it one step at a time, one foot after another. Kapit lang! ✊

aww, kakagaling ko lang sa pagb-break down kasi i was so down kanina when they said na i will go back from being a 1st year student. And when you said in this video na you shifted and you really prayed for your course which is Psychology, bigla akong nabuhayan. Why? because i wanna shift to Psychology too and ilang beses ko na rin siyang dinudulog kay Lord. I am so inspired with this video. Kaya pala ang gaan ng loob ko and ang comfortable na panoorin ka kasi we want and we love the same course. I am very inspired by this. Thank you so much. Hi atee! I am an incoming 1st yr BA comm student in a state university, i am planning to shift to either nursing or psychology. Now my question will be about psychology since i was informed by our psych department that shiftees will need to take an exam. kayo po ba nung nagshift kayo, may exam po ba? if yes, may i ask po if about saan po sana yung exam? like saan related you questions, i know this may depend on the arrangements or policies sa universities where we are in, but atleast may idea nako kahit onti haha saka yung interview rin po sana if ano po yung mga questions nila aside from the reasons why you want to shift. Hi Patty! Good question! Yes, I took an exam and went through an interview rin as process for shifting. For our exam, more on general psychology yung questions then for the interview, more on stating your reason why you want to shift and the layers between that. Hope this helps! ☺️

Ate what's your plan po after getting bs psych? Will you proceed to med school po? I'm a CE student po and I'm really contemplating whether to shift to BS Psych or BSA. I'm afraid kasi I know I love BS Psych but I can't guarantee much about job opportunities. The thing naman in BSA is I'm not really quite sure if I can survive it since marami rin ang nagsshift away from it. Engineering really got me into the pit of self-doubts, I don't know what I'm good at and I don't know what to choose now:((
Hello! I think I can help by presenting some possible career paths of a Psych major. ☺️
I think one of the most common misconceptions is the limitation ng job opportunities for BS Psychology students. BS Psych hits a lot of fields. One can go the educational route (counselors, teachers), the industrial route (Human resources, office work), or the clinical route (therapists, researchers, scientists). One can also take Master's degree which has a lot of variants to hone one's craft and increase job opportunities even more. The course can also be a pre-med and/or a pre-law course. BS Psychology graduates even contribute to the gaming industry!
Malawak yung scope ng BS Psychology that's why if you'll choose to pursue it, I believe maraming options for career paths. As for job opportunities, maraming factors that can affect (economically, geographically) but I also believe it depends sa field that you'll pursue.
Bottomline is I think if you want to shift, explore your courses of choice para ma-weigh mo rin talaga ng maayos. BSA is also a nice option naman! Although kilala siya na mahirap yung course, I really don't think na may madaling course rin naman.

Coincidence yung vid mo ate hehe bigla nalang lumabas sa nf ko kagagaling ko lang sa University na pinapasukan ko to shift course form Marketing Management to BS psych, yung feeling na payag na yung parents mo approved na ng registrar yung shinfting req, okay na sa Dean ng dati mong college tapos di ka tinanggap ng Department na gusto mo pasukan so I end up enrolling to my previous course kahit di ko gusto feeling ko nagaaksaya lang ako ng panahon at pera huhu😢 sobra yung regret ko ko right now kahit nag-try naman ako lahat lahat

Hi Danica! 👋🏻 Good question! I would suggest considering the travel time if you are staying a bit far from your campus. If that's not an issue, I just make sure I have at least a day off if possible and schedule my classes around other pursuits (e.g. non-profit organizations, ministry, etc.). If possible rin, I minimize the days I go to school so if kaya kong iarrange na three times a week lang ako may pasok, I would do so because that would cut your expenses rin kahit papaano and would save your energy for other things you want to pursue on the side. This would also give you time for projects, assignments, and reviewing lessons. Ayun, that's how I navigate through.
As for being the least priority for enrollment, I personally don't feel the major effect of it other than super early or medyo late na yung time slots na free. But for me, as long as may kasama ako like a friend or a block I'm comfortable with, goods na ako doon. 😅

Incoming BS Entrepreneurship student here. Gusto ko po kasi talaga kumuha ng course about computer or technology po but yung uni po na na applyan ko is wala nama pong ibang course na inooffer or simply naubusan na po ako ng slot. Ang plano ko po ngayon is ituloy nalang yung BS Entrep and mag shift nalang din po ng course. Wala na rin po kasi akong ibang uni na naapplyaan kaya no choice na po talaga. Okay lang po ba na ituloy tong plano ko? Sana po masagot ❤️

Hi! With regards to this, it's best to ask your department or student government officers since there are different policies for different universities. This would totally depend sa system niyo in your campus ☺️
Does it prevent you po in achieving a latin honor if you shift?
Hi Jette! Good question! In our university, being a shifter won't disqualify you from qualifying for latin honors. I'm just not sure if this applies to other campuses ☺️

Hi ate can I get an advice kase I failed this 1st sem sa calculus sa CpE and I think na best way po ay ang pag shift pero naiisip ko kung magshift ako baka lalo lang ako mahirapan, kase sabi ng teacher ko best way ay kuhain ko na ang ule yung sub then sa second sem is 4 ang pre requisite ng calc so nahihirapan talaga ako haha iniisip ko na nakakahiya maging iregg haha. Hi Marielle! Personally, I haven't been in this situation so I'm not sure if I can give the best advice for this. Regardless, here's what I think:
I think whether you shift or not, maghahabol ka talaga ng subjects and magiging iba yung subject load mo compared sa ibang students. Therefore, either way, magiging irregular student ka talaga. I'd say if you really want to shift, consider the reason why para worth it yung pagprocess ng shifting and yung paghahabol ng subjects sa new course if ever.
Like what your professor said, I think best way rin is to take the subject again and continue the course. This way, yung other majors mo sa CpE will be credited. Compared sa route na magshishift ka, almost back to zero ka except if maccredit yung minor subjects mo. Although if you want to shift because hindi mo talaga gusto yung current course mo, I wouldn't be against it.
Overall, like what I mentioned sa video, I encourage students to have passion as a reason to shift to another course. College isn't easy kasi talaga so it's best to pursue what you really want.
I understand na parang nakakahiya maging irregular student at first but I feel like in college, we are all running our own races. At the end of the day, you are chasing your own dreams just like other students are so it's not ideal to think about how other people will see you. I actually have a video where I talked about this! Hi! Hopefully I'm not too late but here are some of my thoughts:
Change is inevitable talaga. In one way or another, meron at merong magbabago. I think part of growing up is understanding that and building the muscle to adapt to change. It's challenging talaga!
Personally, I deal with change through believing that God is in control and that He has good plans for me. So kahit nakakapanibago, may pinanghahawakan akong 'di nagbabago: yung faithfulness ni Lord.

Hiii! Although I see no problem with you shifting, still think and pray about it talaga! I really think that the first sem of first year is challenging for everyone because nag-aadjust pa lahat. So really weigh things first before deciding! Hoping for the best for youuu! ✨
