Hey man I built this same build, and my younger brother cracked the end of the pipe, I had a few ideas of reinforcement so it doesn't happen to anyone else. I would recommend using sprayfoam on each open end for about a foot deep this way it won't split
I know this is old but try using ABS instead of PVC abs wont break it may bend but ut will never shatter like pvc ...falling on a cold pvc rail full of screws sounds dangerous to me ...pvc as a tendency to break in cold condition ...if abs is not available there is a stronger rated pvc to be used so it wint break as easily
I just saw a video you made 5 years ago and then clicked on this not knowing it was you and when I saw your dad STILL helping you build your backyard parks man you BOTH just gained a subscriber. I lost my dad when I was 11 and all the times I’ve had to do this at the local community hill by myself just for it all to be gone the next time I went back it made me wish and wish he was still here, you have no idea how lucky you are man. Make sure you remember to remind your dad time to time how much you appreciate him, I’m 21 now I haven’t done this stuff in years I also now have a 3 year old, you’ll realize even more then you do now just how important your dad is in your life you’ll find yourself teaching your own kids the exact same things he taught you but while your doing it you won’t realize but when it’s finally done and your watching your little ones ride everything grandpa taught dad how to make you’ll remember that the very man you are that day helping your kids is all because of your old man, wishing you guys both the best in life man let’s see a video of pops hittin that rail!!
@@JoeClarkVideos dont get step on bindings they give less control, and the boots you have to use them with suck! i had a miserable day when i used these bindings with the boots i had to go with them
Dude this is so sick! I am hyped for this season! New gear + I have built a bunch of features to create a legit backyard park! Keep up the great work with these videos!
I love you idea and your video is really inspiring . also good to see your Dad work with you together! you must have learned to be handy from him. See u later , i have to go to home dept now!
Btw you did good! You put the pvc on the 2x4 first KNOWING it would be easier to center it and secure it to the 2x4. Must be pops expert skills rubbing off
For future reference, you didn't have to take the PVC pipe back off the 2x4, you could have just used pocket screws through the legs and into the 2x4. Sick build though!
I used a 4in by 10ft PVC pipe for this specific rail. Not sure the exact model or type. It was purchased at The Home Depot. You can find a variety of PVC pipes at your local hardware store. Let me know if you have other questions! I'm happy to help in any way possible.
@@JoeClarkVideosthanks so much for the help! Also, is there a certain type of wood I want (for durability), and what else might you do differently if you did it again?
I used pressure treated lumber, which will resist the elements better than untreated lumber. Next timed I’d make the rail slightly shorter. This summer I lowered the rail by 3 inches. Otherwise, I’ve been super happy with the design. It’s held up very well so far!
Grate 4 bars of Ivory Soap using a cheese shredder into shavings in a bucket. Add about 1.2 gallons of hot tap water and then 3 ounces of glycerin and hand mix in the bucket. Let sit overnight in the same bucket and then it turns into a gel which you hand smear in a 2 foot wide strip down the center of the ramp. You only need to apply the gel once or twice a day. It has staying power & it makes you move really fast
o, you may not see this but I wanted to know if doing this damages your board because I want to build one but I only have one board and I don't want to ruin it. if you respond thanks
This won't hurt the board at all. Compared to metal rails and boxes, this is gonna be super forgiving to your board surface. The pvc with break before your board will, and that's pretty hard to do. I hope that helped
Holy crap this is insane Joe said he’d check out my channel well it’s not this one but the channel is called Swift Boarders ik its cringe but since u wanted to check it out that’s what it’s called this is the greatest thing to ever happen to me

Dads are the fucking best. Your dad looks like he is a super nice guy.
he's an amazing guy, I'll make sure to read your comment to him! he loves starring in my videos hahaha
You should get a pair of step on bindings. The backyeadboarding is the perfect with them getting in and out of thr bindings all the time.
i do need a pair! hopefully going to get to try them out this winter!

I just bought a 10'x4" PVC as well a few days ago...thanks for this video! How much was the total cost in wood?
21 dollars i think? i got 2, 12 foot 2 by 4’s!
I also picked up a 4”x10’ pvc pipe recently!😂
I like your board ;) i got this same RIDE
I think both trees were beautiful.

i need another section!
Sorry for the forever questions--any suggestions for which type of PVC pipe type or model; and which screws? I'm trying to nail this build.
awesome vid!
Let’s just say your dad built this for you since he did the hard work
i need to see what that army jeep looks like
Is the green carpet thingy just carpet or something special?
after hearing the news that my park city trip got canceled, i’m building this out of rage
Dude mine did too I was so sad we were supposed to go to park city for a week. I didn’t build the rail though lol.
@@NuggetsCS mine is kinda sketch, i don’t nearly have enough room as him so the run up is super steep and short but it works

hey how high is that rail, and man good job on the set up
@3:39
I love the platform. You said you bought the turf at Menards?
i did, it works great!
How much space do you need and how did you build the ramp
also what is the green thing making the snowboard moves?
Does the soap kill the grass that you use
not at all, i made sure it was safe!
Joe Clark what soap do you use
How much in all, how much did the turf cost? Awesome
For future reference, you didn't have to take the PVC pipe back off the 2x4, you could have just used pocket screws through the legs and into the 2x4. Sick build though!
What turf did you use
the cheapest stuff at menards, ill try to find a link and send it to you!
What is the green carpet that you slide on called?
This go hard

pretty stiff but i don’t mind
Where did you get those dry ski mats?
menards! here’s the video link where i build the set-up a few years ago! th-cam.com/video/DM-iysVqOc8/w-d-xo.html
How far on the wood should I install the legs?
How did you connect the legs to the rail?
What kind of matting is the green stuff
Yo I’m making this rn did you cut angles in the wood or just screw them in?
the legs are cut at 15 degrees then screwed to the base of the rail, hope that answers your question! let me know if you need any more help!
@@JoeClarkVideos thanks be I’ll let you know how it turns out
You use pure water for the jumps?

Hey can u do a tip video of hitting rails like that. I can hit them but I need a vid to teach my freind
definitely! good idea, i’ll post it on friday!
