Yazidi religion is one of the oldest religious traditions of the ancient world. According to the calculations of the Yazidis, this tradition in Arabia is 6,763 years old, that is, 4,748 years before Christ, this tradition is going on before the Jews, Christians and Muslims.
It is believed that Yazidi is a branch of Hinduism, the custom of lighting lamps in Yazidis temples and worshiping fire in the form of Havankund is also similar to Hinduism.
The Yazidi religion itself is very special and mysterious. The customs and traditions of this religion are very similar to Hinduism. It is said that this religion was created only after being influenced by Sanatan Dharma. Predominantly, Yazidis live as a minority in northwestern Iraq, northwestern Syria and southeastern Turkey. Yazidi religion is one of the oldest religious traditions in the world. According to the religious books of the Yazidis, this tradition is six thousand years old. The literal meaning of 'Yazidi' is 'Worshiper of God'. This word is originally from Persian language. Yazidis call their god 'Yazdan'.
यजीदी धर्म प्राचीन विश्व की प्राचीनतम धार्मिक परंपराओं में से एक है। यजीदियों की गणना के अनुसार अरब में यह परंपरा 6,763 वर्ष पुरानी है अर्थात ईसा के 4,748 वर्ष पूर्व यहूदियों, ईसाइयों और मुसलमानों से पहले से यह परंपरा चली आ रही है
माना जाता है कि यज़ीदी' (Yazidi) हिंदू धर्म (Hinduism) की ही एक शाखा है, यज़ीदियों के मंदिरों (Temple) में दीपक जलाने और हवनकुण्ड के रूप में अग्नि पूजा करने का रिवाज भी हिंदु धर्म के जैसा ही है.
यज़ीदी धर्म अपने आप में बेहद खास और रहस्यमय हैं. इस धर्म के रीति-रिवाज और परंपरा हिंदू धर्म से काफी मिलते-जुलते हैं. कहा जाता है कि इस धर्म का निर्माण सनातन धर्म से प्राभवित होकर ही किया गया था. मुख्य रूप से यजीदी उत्तर-पश्चिमी इराक, उत्तर-पश्चिमी सीरिया और दक्षिण-पूर्वी तुर्की में अल्पसंख्यक समुदाय के रूप में रहते हैं. यजीदी धर्म विश्व की सबसे पुरानी धार्मिक परंपराओं में से एक है. यजीदियों की धार्मिक किताबों की माने तो ये परंपरा छह हज़ार साल पुरानी है. 'यजीदी' का शाब्दिक अर्थ 'ईश्वर को पूजने वाला' होता है. ये शब्द मूल रूप से पर्शियन भाषा से है. यजीदी अपने ईश्वर को 'यजदान' कहते हैं.
