“I did read it as a little kid….and look what happened to me”. 😂 That made me laugh loudly. Thank you. But in all seriousness, I loved that you shared these books with us. Thank you. All Quiet on the Western Front also changed my life - made me read even more WWI related books and Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo made me a pacifist too. The film version is disturbing but just as impactful.
Hello sir, I hope you’re doing great! I just found your TH-cam channel and you have some great videos. ( watching for America) Keep up the great work my friend 🤝🎉
@ absolutely. I usually try to read a concise biography before reading any author’s work. I read Frankenstein twice, the second time after learning about Mary Shelley’s life, and it changed so much.
Hello AL, how are you doing? Can't wait for my exams to get over so I can read these books! also, can't wait to watch the full video and cry about not being able to get new books because of fucking school 😭 Can you please recommend me some German book for beginners, I want to learn German and have no idea where to start
@aquariuslibrarian starting from absolute scratch 😭 Oml I love German so much, it's my dream to speak good German someday. Any help/advice would be lovely 😭
@PetiteDimanche I'd start with very simple childrens books. Then once you know your basics you can start reading more middle grade stuff if thats something you like, maybe Cornelia Funke, Paul Maar etc. And once youre at about B1 level you can start reading the REALLY cool stuff. Reading Hermann Hesse in german is a totally different experience than reading his translated works for example

Didn’t know you had a channel yourself! Subscribed!
Awesome! I'll make a video when your package arrives :)
Biographies are super underrated. I think the size of them can put many people off. To me, they are the best way to start learning history.
They also teach us to put literature/ other thing into historical context, which is super important and interesting imo!
