      I had an open belly for 7 months and fistula, stoma and stoma reversal as well. I did not have TH-cam then but i do thing if i filmed it it could help a lot pf people! The whole 7 months hospital experience and rehab after as well.
      I got to be an expert at wound care right now😅 And if you can help people🤘🏼

      Totally agree with a wound care video Vanessa! It will be so helpful for thousands of people & caregivers.
      Congrats on your reversal!!
      I wonder if you might try a stoma shower cap (eBay or Amazon) or even the glad press & seal if you don’t want to get it wet or even cut down on how soaked it gets there but it’s good to know it’s ok, & to just make sure it’s dry. Hoping the home care nurse helped!!
      “NOBODY sleeps in the hospital” (quote from a previous physician…) 🤦🏻‍♀️
      Rest & heal up sista!! 💜

      @@queenofstitcheswarrior2668 same thing happened to me after my stomach reversal. I had the surgery June 30 2020 and I still have a fistula. It just won’t close. My team of doctors are trying everything.

    Congratulations. On my reversal, I stayed 7 days. I had a tube through my nose, I was miserable. But I'm 8 months post reversal. Not quite on a routine yet. But doing much better. The wound care was a bit scary and really strange to watch the hole close up from bottom up. Good luck. It will be all good things from here on. You did great. WARRIOR!!!!. For sure.

    Hey girl, you look so healthy after this procedure! Yes, my wound bled a lot first shower. I decided to put a water proof large bandaid over the wound for my own peace of mind. Use saline liquid after to rinse out the wound before repacking. The visiting nurse will show you how, it gets easier but never pleasant. You are doing great, keep rested. 🦋. Lots of internal healing takes sleep!

    Wow, so much different how they did it with my stoma wound! They only stitched the outside of the wound and the inside they left open. After surgery they put a bandage on and only after 10 days I had to go back to the hospital to let it remove by the surgeon and it was allready healed. I life in Belgium so very different procedure. Be prepared for many bathroom visits a day and use the creme after because it can get really painful! Try to avoid eating fibers and only 'white' food, like pasta, rice and bread. Surely no raw vegetables! I know it is agains healthy eating but to avoid too much problems you have to change your diet, no choice in food anymore. I wish you have very less problems with your bowel then I had, also because nobody told me what was best to eat after this LAR surgery and ileostomy reversal. If you have a problem with anything, Vanessa, you can ask me anything and I will give you more tips. All the best to you!💙

    Hi Vanessa. You are so adorable.💖 I love how honest you are and that you look at things as learning experiences. I'm so glad you got to go home. When I was in the hospital for four nights I only slept a total of 12 hours. When I got home I took a shower and I climbed into bed and I passed out. I feel so relieved that everything is over and you were right to just get it done and by Thanksgiving you will be feeling great. May God continue to bless you and watch over you and your family. Love, Carly 💗

    Hi Vanessa! So glad you’re home now and getting some rest. The first week home is the hardest..trust me lol I recently had my takedown as well going to week 4 and my hole is finally closing! I didn’t have to pack mine when I was discharged doe.. I just had to clean it and put a band aid on it 🤷🏻‍♀️ it is weird at first when showering without anything over it. But it’ll be ok and it will heal in no time & bathroom trips will get better too.. 😊💙

    Wound care is a weird thing, but I’m glad you’re not hurting when you pack it! I had to have my stitches taken out of my wound after open abdominal surgery (bowel obstruction from scar tissue after radiation) due to an abscess and lemme tell ya, that was not a fun time or fun recovery at home. But change your wound as often as you need, use sterile saline, and don’t let that packing gauze get dry inside your wound, if at all possible.
    I hope you had the nurses load you up with medical supplies before you were discharged. Always ask for whatever they can give you! Best wishes and I’m so happy for you. Another step on the road to recovery 💕

    I had a lot of wounds to take care of as well, open belly for 7 months, fistula’s and also stoma reversal. No TH-cam at that time but i think it could help a lot of people if i recorded the process.

    Hello
    I just took care of my mother because she had a bedsore from the nursing home that was horrific. I had to clean the deep wound out that I could fit my fist in with some Saline solution and then touch it gently inside there and throw that out then I had to get gauze and put some Saline Solution on it just a little and cover up the whole area of the wound loosely and then I had to put one of those pads over it with a sticky stuff on it

  • @ac1901
    @ac1901 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Try eating mainly bland foods and perhaps avoid dairy for a bit, its really hard on the digestive system and might be causing some of your frequency issues. I had to pack my belly button area with gauze/saline after a surgery long ago. There was an open hole in my abdomen and its amazing how the body closes up and heals. Good luck with your recovery!

    I seen another comment suggesting a bidet. I second that.
    I had my entire colon removed (total abdominal colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis) on Sept 14. I ended up with an ileus and extremely low potassium that increased my stay to 10 days. When I finally started having bowel movements on day 4 or 5, I had 40 within a 24hr period. I ordered a bidet the next day. I still deal with alot of rectal/anal pain and diarrhea-- the bidet has been a life/butt-saver!!!

    Try a shower band-aid. Buy a good one so no water hets in (I can't recommend you one as I am not in the US), read some reviews and use it exactly as it is recommended. I always used one after surgeries and it worked fine. I used to shower before changing my dressing so that if a little water gets in (which rarely happenes), I will not have to change twice in 10 minutes.
    Get well soon and take your time! I know you have children and it is difficult to rest, but you do not want to go back to the hospital! Listen to your body!

    @reagandeleon1557 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just got home from my reversal today (day 4). The pain is unreal. Doing anything hurts.
    Very minimal bm's at this point, but I'm passing gas. My surgeon said eat anything I want, but everything I've found on it, all says stick with a low residue diet. No red pasta sauces, no raw fruits or veggies. No nuts. No spicy or citrusy foods. No to most meats. Soft meats only (salmon, seafood, chicken). Anything white is allowed - White bread, rice, and low fiber pasta. This diet is supposed to be much easier on the bum. So, forgive me if I cringed a little on your last hospital meal.
    I'll have to do my first open wound packing change tomorrow. I badly need a shower, too. Too exhausted after climbing 3 stories to my apartment. I was told to cover everything, including the bandage with saran wrap, in a shower. So, I'll probably bathe first, then do the bandage change.
    They gave me those wooden q-tips, which actually hurt to me, so I'm using regular q-tips. Hopefully, it will feel better.

      Had my reversal on 7th June.
      Ended up with a temporary Ileostomy after having my sigmoid colon removed and half my bladder removed.
      started back at work 3 weeks ago. Was out of hospital on day 2 after reversal. Wound site is still painful……😞 bowel habits are best they have been in years.
