Project update video of my static 1/6th scale Dragon German Panzer II ausf.b light tank project. In this video update, The model is complete and I go over the work that was made to the tank's paint and markings
More can be found on www.eastcoastar...
Priming the model is a good step. As for the smaller items like the tools and the MG / 37mm cannon primer is not needed. I simply built up the guns and when complete they get painted. For my small arms I usually paint them with flat black spray paint and then add the drybrush weathering. As for applying the base coat this is done via a small spray gun. A good quality airbrush is also suffice to to the task.
As for paint I use my own mixes, but for an early war period German tank like this you can use tamiya german grey, or if you want to do some counter shading weathering like my model you can use model master german uniform grey for the base, and a darker shade of panzer grey for the airbursh shading.
Hi Thanks, for my welds I use an industrial epoxy. Most poeple use and have fantastic results with Miliput, or Aves epoxy sculpt.
Hi,
That really an amazing work! Could you indicate the brand of the epoxy tube and past to creat welding, you are using? Where can I find the spring you are using on fenders?
Thank in advance.
regards
My next project will be posted soon. I already built a jagdpanther in 1/6 and it can be seen on the ECA website.
I have the PZ.KPFW.II AUSF B I got it for Christmas of 2012, I am having problems getting started with the paint part of it, I started priming everyting for paint, but I am not sure how to continue with some of the smaller items like the MG. 34, can you give me any advice as to how I should proceed, and how did you paint the tank, did you airbrush anything?
Amazing work !
That's really nice.
And for the spring on fenders ?
regards
This sounds like a stupid question but can the drivers escape hatch open? Or is it molded on the upper plate or a add on detail?
It's molded shut. If you want to make it functional you will need to do some work.
whats next maybe u should do a panther or a jagerpanther
What are the dimensions of the model? Like length, width, height?
I don't know off hand, but on amazon a seller describes it as 28 x 15 x 20 inches
awesome job!
All of my project springs I find at a local hardware store.
Zurk fittings ? Just finished the old tamiya panzer 2 yesterday now I need to go back and paint them now :( , I was hoping to weather the tank today , but Zurk fitting and wooden antenna box need to be addressed now. Next you be telling me it didn't have a turret bin
Zerk fittings, The small nipples that allow you to connect a Grease gun tip so you can add lubrication to axles and other lube points
It's been a while since I did any research on the PZII ausf. B, but from my memory it didn't have a turret bin, I may be mistaken though so you might want to do some digging.
The tamiya kit do not have any moulded details for the lube nips, after I typed that I just popped a few dots on the wheels and rollers every picture I seen there painted over in camo or its a black and white photo so I never knew anything about them , thanks for the tip. Well the turret bin situation I think may be a tamiya oversight they say it's applicable to a panzer f/g the little research I did "after I glued it on mind" they only used by the dak. It's a pity I done the eastern front 18th panzer decals. Apparently the ss wiking division used a Panzer2 ausf G but I have no pictures as proof
Generally when the fittings are not molded in I tend to leave them off, or add a small drop of red paint to simulate where they are.... really depends on the kit. As for the bin, it looks to be a DAK fitting not sure if it was used / seen in russia... but again I might be mistaken.
since your basically at the point of no return for this one I'd leave it as is, luckily the kits are fairly cheap and you can do another if the markings bug you to that point.
That's what I did just added a red dot in the right places I used a crimson red as its a darker hue and don't pop so much on the panzer grey. It bothers me if I am honest but I personally do not know anybody who would be able to spot my mistake so at least that's a blessing. It's my first 1/35th tank so I shouldn't be so anal about tiny detail's I just cannot help it. Your totally right cost me a whole £9.99 but I least I learnt a few things for in the future zerk fittings wooden aerial holder so I appreciate your maybe long winded videos but there very informative. Many thanks merry Christmas and happy new year . P.s is there a paint firing dirty dozen Sherman in the planning since your named oddball
No static only
Can it drive
that is so fucken nice
